- With his horn-rimmed glasses and esoteric subject matter, Messersmith is no rock star. But he's a pop genius, with creative ambition to match his songs' considerable charm.
Set List:
"Toussaint Grey, First In Life And Death"
"Knots"
"Violet"
"A Girl, A Boy, And A Graveyard"
"Tatooine"

Thanks Sidney! Come say hi at the show!
um, thanks!
Come back to uwec, oh wait the university sucks now
- I'm glad I found this guy. His music is awesome. And the supporting band has great musicianship and harmony. Real music.
Jeremy Messersmith, you have a beautiful voice.
I just discovered him today! so good. his music is somehow really reassuring/relieving.
So good to read the comments below and realise that so many people love real music. I am not alone!! Deese guys are dang good!
Seeing him live would be beautiful
Score another one for Minneapolis! We have the best music scene in the country! :)
He deserves to be so much more famous I can't believe it
Kisses from France
literally everything that he does is fucking perfect. Holy moly.
Jeremy Messersmith gets it and has it. Crazy brilliant whimsical narrative with a bold pop sensibility. The lyrics never quite leave you and all behind a wall of melody. Depth upon layered depth of intelligence as well
Nice.
Absolutely perfect and beautiful. I always hear The Beach Boys in "Get Up Violet."
My favourite NPR Concert... You POP! 👍🏼👏🏼❤️👍🏼
I just saw Jeremy with a group of friends in DC on Friday night. He opened for Eric Hutchinson, but without his band. He played acoustic and then his ukulele unplugged with some super fun songs. I'm hooked!
I enjoy listening to it.
Simply beautiful! Keep up the excellent work Jeremy!
Such a great songwriter.
This one of those artists who actually know how to write and perform pop. Great pop voice.
wow their talents shine
I love the picking patterns in all his songs c:
Amazing
I wish he would come to Rochester (MN) for a show.
thanks a lot NPR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

desde España mis felicitaciones
From Spain: Good work, Congratulations
Good to hear real musicians playing music
The audio mix for this video is great.
05:35 "Violet" is one of the best written pop songs I've heard in a long time! Brilliant songwriting!
I love your channel! The Gorillaz song making one is what introduced me!
So glad Toussaint Grey is the first song so I can just refresh it constantly.
Knots is still my favorite song of all time and he plays it so well
Found him on Chuck with A Boy, a Girl, and a Graveyard. Listened to him ever since. Just missed him on his happy ukulele tour, and hate he’s from Minneapolis, can’t see him live.
This music inspires me
love so much!
Man, nerds are awesome
Thumbs up for "Tatooine" at 13:40
Oh and it never hurts to throw out a Steve Earle reference every now and again!!! Well played
love it!!
no doubt rising folk-musician star !!! i'm waiting next Jeremy album !!!
Very nice!
Amazing.

This was really beautiful, thank you.
Real talk.
Terrific!
Here’s my NPR Tiny Desk Theory
So many artists genuinely peak, deliver incredible performances on their tiny desk appearance far beyond what their studio offerings … offer
It’s evident in so many artists appearances that appear here. NPR Tiny Desk concerts are this strangely perfect set
If I were an artist as august as appearing here I would try to replicate, nah, bottle what occurs here
that baby face blows my mind, and the voice has gotten some depth to it, but still gold.
Ok, Jeremy is really inspiring
Since I couldn't find it anywhere else, here are the names of the performers:
Jeremy Messersmith - Guitar and Vocals
Pete Sieve - Guitar
Andy Thompson - Percussion/Keys
Ben Rosenbush - Cello/Keys
Special thanks to Becky for the help!
In love.
jeremy messersmith's "ghost" on the mahogany session is just as good!
Good days to come to you in the states , yours from KUWAIT , any way sing a song about KUWAIT WERE WAR ENDS. love you all unique
Great Cello
Those were the shortest 20 minutes!
Reminds me of Marshall Crenshaw !! Very Cool Music !! PEACE JIM
This npr review is bogus... poor journalism. This dude is a rock star.
I just saw him last night with Eric Hutchinson. He was super entertaining and funny! He was playing solo, though, and also brought a Ukele! His performance was great.
sufjan-esque . . . i like!
💕
This was too short. Want more.
This guys got it.
First song reminds me very much of White Stripes We are going to be friends.
'knots' reminds me of 'sinister' era belle and Sebastian...like a lost b-side or something
@ericschainuck its a 5122 DC electromatic if anyone was curious
I always think of WWII airplanes when I see his name.
violet was awesome.
for a 40 year old guy with the Star Wars mythos hard-wired in his head, "Tatooine" is sheer genius.
10:18, stop being such a boss, geez
9:20 nice
He reminds me of Adam Cullen
Check out his CD Paper Bag Games on iTunes
Does he do concerts??
it's Carlsagan42s musical brother
Ahhhh. Real music without contrivances. Ain't it grand!

Genius may be a bit much, but he's good.
Im a complete asshole...trainwreck. this helps🤘
horn-rimmed glasses...yeah im sure he's the only person that wears those.
people sure throw around the word "genius" a lot.
Frankenstein is the name of the creator, not the monster
