- This song, composed by Charlie Chaplin, was requested by my Mum! She asked me to play it a while back and I really love it. It's been recorded by everyone, from Nat King Cole to Lyle Lovett, but this is my stripped down version and I'm so happy to play it for my Mum, who has worn the most beautiful smile on her face every day, despite the challenges she's faced. She's an amazing woman and I love her so much!

Wow. You are on my wavelength. We played "Smile" at my father's funeral. When people asked me why, I said "because he made me smile his whole life".
Thank you.
That's so lovely Don, thank you for sharing that. ❤️
Beautiful SMILE, indeed! Thank You!
You certainly brought a smile with this selection. Thanks
Only have heard Nat King Cole’s version but this definitely brought a smile to me 😊

Thanks Mark!
Me encanta como canta Tara
Thank you!
Wonderful job on singing "Smile". Love the violin along with your voice and guitar. It seems to me that the late Charlie Chaplin silent movie star wrote this song. I am a Charlie Chaplin fan and wrote a song about him. Oh maybe when your not to busy I think "The Winner Takes All" would be a great song for you to sing. Originally performed by the group Abba. Also Mireille Mathieu a French artist does a fine job on it from France. Her version is in French.. I am amazed at the speed in which you learn your songs upon request. You are so devote to your art. Thank you Tara.
My daughter is a huge fan of Abba, she would love for me to learn that one! And you are correct, Charlie Chaplin wrote the music to Smile. What a talented fella!
I wrote a song about Charlie Chaplin it appears on You Tube with two different pictures One version has Charlie Chaplin as the You Tube picture the other of me. If you feel so moved pull it up. It is entitled "Charlie Chaplin". Thank you. I am enjoying your channel and hope that the subscribers keep flooding in to you! By Bye!
I like that song. I know that I am probably a little older than you are. But you keep coming up with songs that I have never heard before. Where are you from ? I know everything just about from the 50s up until now. Still you surprise me with songs.
I'm from London, Ontario and I've been playing music since I was 3 years old - they literally had to put me on a chair so I could reach the microphone! Over the years, playing with all different musicians I've learned many styles and fallen in love with every era. Plus I meet people like you who request songs I've never heard, so I'm always learning. I love music!
@@TaraDunphy I have a friend that lives in Ontario somewhere. He speaks French . Also English he was born in the states. I live near Asheville N.C. I love to sing also . My brother however is the musician. Don’t ever stop singing 😂
Another masterpiece,Tara. BTW,did you get a chance to listen to “Lily of the West” by Peter,Paul and Mary. It’s on the Moving album from 1963. They call their version Flora. Regards, John
I did listen and it’s really interesting- I liked the calm vocals set against an almost frantic backing instrumental track. It’s incredible how a song can be played so many ways!
