Are you psychic? This is exactly what I'm looking for for my new pc! Thank you :)
That's my side job 😎 Very welcome, hope this helps you out a lot!
Timing is everything 😁😎👍
I do not think so , I notice many thinks showing up recommended for me even I never search about them. I got some tool from my local shop and I was speaking with my employees where will be the best place to store this tool . Few hours later saw video about best solution to store this tool.... I think hey google listening everything we are saying as this is just one example ;)
Just a quick heads up. I was having trouble getting the emulators to launch but fixed it by updating the Microsoft visual c++ redistributable package for both x64 and x86. Thanks again for the fantastic tutorial!
Great tip, thank you for sharing! Happy to hear the tutorial was helpful. Game on, my friend!
this is really new
Awesome! Is this less of a beta now (closer to final)? Also, how do you feel about this vs Retrobat? And is there a way to have both installed (used) and only need one set of bios and rom folders??
It's up to the developers to determine if it's out of beta. From my testing, it seemed very stable though. EmuDeck has a lot of options that make re-configuring the emulators very easy, some may prefer it over RetroBat. I've not tried sharing the bios and roms between both EmuDeck and RetroBat, but this may be possible.
So, I'm rather older. I'm finding this all so hard, my Grandson got me this to play my old games at my table. He did a hardrive upgrade and then left to boot camp. Said I would be able to figure this out. Yeah, it's not easy at all... I'm having such a hard time.
When you're new to it, I understand it can be a bit confusing. What area are you having difficulty with and I'll try to assist?
Don't feel bad. I'm 34. Grew up gaming all of my life & I'm finding it so confusing trying to figure out this emulator business. Lol.
@wizzdumb_610 I’m still working on files, many of which I couldn’t care less about. So, they’re ending up in their own folders. Nevertheless, I’ve gotten most of it done. I’m struggling with Phantasy Star Online at the moment. It was my favorite PSO title. Getting it to play seems to be a major issue since I have no servers to connect to. I even emulated the save card for it so I can store my MAG. It’s the best game I ever played online in my whole life.
Thanks
Very welcome!
Just saw your video reviewing 100k retro game HDD and you mentioned that it has just nearly the complete catalog. Would you happen to know where I can buy/download complete catalog?
All links are in the video description, the one for Amazon is not currently available though.
What's your thoughts on this vs Retrobat? Retrobat is too lockdown for my tastes as it doesnt let me change the hotkeys
Since EmuDeck is using Steam Input, you can configure the buttons based on your preference. From a configurability standpoint, EmuDeck might be what you're looking for.
Around time marker 12:20, can you please show and explain how to open up the folder Retrostation_PC_4_U? I could not find it on my end.
The folders that EmuDeck creates aren't going to be aware of the external RS drive. You can copy the files from RS to the folder(s) used by EmuDeck.
@@WagnersTechTalkI'm having the same issue. I know that you're supposed to copy the files from the RS drive to the folders for EmuDeck, but we don't know where to find the RS drive to get the folders to copy from.
How do you add mupen64 or other emulators to emudeck on windows as well as steam rom manager?
If you are installing it to Steamdeck with Windows 11 on it, which option do you choose, Steamdeck or Windows 11 PC while installing it? Thanks,
I've not run EmuDeck in Windows on the Steam Deck, but I think Windows 11 PC should work out fine.
What do I do about the Emulation Station update?
If I Install Windows only on my Steam Deck will this work?
I don't really need Steam OS and don't want to double boot.
Will the Windows-Emudeck Installation make everything work on my Steam Deck?
I've heard from one individual that said the WiFi drivers for the SD OLED aren't working. I don't own that particular model, so I can't confirm. Before installing Windows on the SD internal SSD, I'd recommend performing a test using a microSD to make sure everything is working just fine for you. For a full guide on how to do that, please see here: wagnerstechtalk.com/sd-windows
As much as I'd like to love this program I just can't for the main reason of scraping takes way too long and it's not Screenscraper's fault. I have a PAID Screenscraper account. I have 100 games in Neo Geo. Using EmuDeck it took like 30 minutes to scrape 100 titles. Using the Screenscraper app for Windows and going into my /roms/neogeo folder, it scraped the same 100 games in 1.5 minutes. The only problem is Emulation Station doesn't see any of this because it created 1 image and I guess Emulation Station wants to see 6 images. Another issue with that is it counts as 6 things downloaded from your overall limit for the day instead of just 1 image! The interface is horrible in Emulation Station for scraping as there is no direct option to pick Mix V2, no, instead it wants to download each of these images separately (3d box, wheel logo, media image, screenshot) taking up more hard drive space, in order to create one single image like Mix V2.
On my handhelds there is a Screenscraper option to only scrape new games that don't have any new media in the past 15 days or so. So if I add 50 games to Neo Geo it will only scrape those 50 new games. Emulation Station on the other hand wants to redownload ALL the images all over again, or I can painstakingly scrape each individual game one by one. Or lets say I'm in the middle of scraping my large SNES collection of 700 games and get to #578 and I hear a storm coming so I have to shut down my computer and when I restart the scraping it goes back to scraping the FIRST game??! Who thought this was a good idea? It's terrible. Takes up way more space than necessary and takes up way more time too. I also tried to be slick and save some time by copying over videos I had already downloaded previously and Emulation Station doesn't see that so it just redownloads them all anyway! Any suggestions on how to speed things up?
Also, when I first installed EmuDeck it did not create the rom folders inside folder Emulation. Nor would it launch Steam Rom manager. It just stood there. I figured out what the problem was and you have to DISABLE YOUR VPN to get this to work! Seriously??!
Thank you for your very detailed feedback regarding the screenscraper in ES! Please reach out to the EmuDeck developers on their Discord here: discord.com/invite/b9F7GpXtFP , they may have some recommendations. If a solution is identified, please comment back here with the results. They have been very responsive in the past with questions.
@@WagnersTechTalk Thank you for the prompt reply. You're the best! I figured out how to transfer previously scraped media on my own from say an Anbernic device or whatever:
Put your gamelist.xml files in: drivename:\Users\Username\EmuDeck\EmulationStation-DE\ES-DE\gamelists You may have to enable SHOW HIDDEN FILES to see this directory.
Put artwork and videos in:
drivename:\Emulation\storage\downloaded_media
ame_of_system\ folders: miximages (for your Mix v2 images or Mix v1) and videos (for your videos) You may have to create these 2 folders.
Doing this I was able to transfer my library of 1,000 GBA games with videos and boxart in about 2 minutes which would have taken about 5 hours letting Emulation Station scrape them. LOL!
Awesome brother, glad you were able to get the artwork moved over and thank you so much for sharing what you did! It's people such as yourself that make this community so awesome!
Can you play commercial games on EMU deck such as GTA, Minecraft, Call Of Duty, and Red Redemption?
What you install is entirely up to you, but some of those may be playable.
Hello, Why is there no SNES emulator on the parsers list?? Im baffled by this
why is B a duckstation settings pop up???? And LB 1 fast forward????? How do i clear hot keys? This isnt set up for any ps1 game play as i need those buttons. What ever they did messed all the hot keys up for everything and i cant default them
Is there a way to make a ES shortcut to my desktop so i can just open it
from my desktop and start playing without opening steam and steam library and then
non steam games to get to ES?
Yes. Launch Steam, locate ES. Click the Settings (gear) icon. Then Manage -> Add desktop shortcut.
@@WagnersTechTalk thanks you. I was rattling my brain with such a simple thing. I don't use steam & only have like 2 games on steam. I keep all my games in a folder labeled games in my start menu.
Where exactly do I find the bios and roms???
John , on the select emulators page, why is Emulationstation listed as an emulator when it’s an overall frontend and what happens if you select Emulastiknststion, mame, and Retroarch to all install ?
I think the main reason is to avoid creating another collection in Steam for frontends (there are only two of them). You're right, it isn't an emulator but having it in the same group keeps everything in one place. For the MAME option, if both are installed (retroarch and mame), it also installs standalone MAME .265. That's my understanding, at least.
@@WagnersTechTalk If I install emustation then it already adds all the emulators ?
During the setup wizard, you select which emulators you want to install. See 04:56
@@WagnersTechTalk ok. So I still have to select the other emulators as well. Thanks. Im Interested in trying this.
Awesomeness
Thank you for watching!
Una pregunta, steam me puede banear por usar emudeck en pc?
Es que estoy jugando juegos de xbox 360 en steam con emudeck pero no se si en algun momento me puedan banear.
I've never heard of such a thing happening.
@@WagnersTechTalk Muchas gracias por tu respuesta bro!
I got stuck at parsing it says enabled parsers returned no apps, I don’t know what else to do
May be that it didn't find any games in the Emulation sub folder or the parsers were all turned off.
Well it worked after I paired the controller, but switch doesn’t work on emulation station I keep getting a error about yuzu when I’m using Ryujinx and the sound isn’t working on the emulator
Any data you save on a storage device for EMU deck, can you just use it to install on another windows device with the existing data.
I'm not sure I understand the question.
@@WagnersTechTalk Can you back your data and restored it on another device where you can continue playing wherever you last left off on your other device?
retroarch was the legacy
When will be available on the macOS???
Two days ago they released an unstable release for macOS that has bugs on their patreon. Not sure when the initial public release will be.
@@WagnersTechTalk well let’s hope by the end of summer it’s ready and hopefully iOS and iPadOS as well since emulation is booming right now for Apple. Thanks for the info!!!🙏🙏🙏
Could you also play EMU deck offline?
For setup, being online is needed. Once setup, it's launched by Steam.
Will EmuDeck Work On Any Laptops
Any Windows laptop, desktop or handheld PC will work, yes.
@@WagnersTechTalk Thanks
i hate how many issues i have with emudeck. its not simple at all lol. i just use launchbox (paid version)
What issues are you having?
suyu?rog ally?
there is launchbox aswell like emudeck
Yep, there are other options too. One I also like is RetroBat, more info. here: wagnerstechtalk.com/retrobat
@@WagnersTechTalk yeah thanks but i already have like 3k games in launchbox lol all retros with amiga aswell
Ah, the Amiga... my 2nd computer was the Amiga 1000, loved that machine!
@@WagnersTechTalk mine was the amiga 500 my first computer then started with consoles etc like the nes and up hheehe
For me no game parsers showed up i followed your whole guide what a shame
Try uninstall/reinstall and seek if the parsers show up then.
Special Comments.
I need a STEAM login to use this.I find it very inconvenient.
Basically ps2 ps3 and SW.
If you install stock Windows tools should work 100% of the time.
I will only use Emulator Station for old retro game.
This is a great idea, but I don't want to have to do the STEAM login every time
It's inconvenient and most up the battery.
cover art Should use a small set of offline
Windows Handheld with low SSD capacity.
I prefer not to get it from the internet.
One image and video already has xxMB
Thank you for your feedback! If you don't want/need Steam, you may be interested in RetroBat: wagnerstechtalk.com/retrobat
the best so far is to use emulators as such i feel like steam you have to have an account and as far as i know they don't offer anything for free you have to pay probably a subscription fee and then it's very complicated for a lot of people to set things up these without simple but it is more complicated than the native emulators for PS2 for example there is an emulator that automatically searches for rom files if they are put in a single folder all in one place for PS1 is the duckling this is exactly like the emulator for PS2 also if it is put in the games in a separate folder then it has the ability to automatically search for the games you don't have to just copy from the index settings the folder to scan and how many times you start it Scans so it's much easier while on the psx 3 there you have to insert the disk into the explorer click on the disk it opens in explorers and becomes a virtual drive in the psx emulator indicate the direction where to read the disk that drive and it behaves like the real console too automatically the game and launches it installs everything you need that it still needs to install something but it can be played, it's quite easy to play on Xbox, you have to click launch the disc, then in the folder where the respective game is put, I look for it, click on the disc and it opens if it's good and not defective and you can play it there are also unplayable but many of them can be played for portable playstation there anyway you give it the folder to scan and it finds the games automatically and displays them with the respective image of the game for example assassin's creed line of blood show with game cover image soda filter so on and so on it's easier for me to use the emulators as is rather than setting this up
Yuzu emudeck Down
Yuzu was shutdown by Nintendo.
@wagnerstechtalk I had downloaded switch but it’s not working it keeps bringing up yuzu but I have the other enabled, what can I do to play the switch?
Also the sound isn’t working
Nintendo, Sony will hunt paid emulators and will bring to lawsuit. Emudeck, Launchbox etc will shutdown.
There is a risk when money is involved.
Ok Karen
