Dina looks STUNNING this time. She rarely wore hair like that. Adore her... The trumpeter was lovely and very good.
Bud shook his hand ...almost brought tears. God bless their families!🇺🇸🇮🇱
Class act for Bud Collyer to walk over and shake the Captain’s hand.
The young lady playing the trumpet sounded GREAT! ........... and hello, The University of Miami is definitely a music school!
On 5/15/61, Dina Merrill looked outstanding. I don't recall Bud ever shaking hands with anyone before.
15:43 Good trumpet player!
#2 got the key of C# question wrong. 7 sharps in C# not 6.
I don't know why they insulted Mr. Cronnin, the butler. He was the pinnacle of discretion and would not comment on why he left the employ of Princess Margaret.
Don't feel sorry for him. He was sacked on the day he refused to sign the Official Secrets Act (25 days into the job). A year after he left, he sold his story to the press, which the panel is well aware of here.
There are also stories online that Soviet records released after the Cold War showed he was a spy for the USSR (his time as a butler in the US embassy in London would have been useful). I haven't confirmed those stories from a source I would trust though.
I'm speculating that his reluctance to sign the Official Secrets Act was to avoid being tied to the potential prison sentence if he was found to have leaked information.
@@zarabada6125 Wow! Such interesting info. Certainly shines a different light on this guest! Quite plausible, I think. But I
suppose, impossible to prove absolutely, if anyone wanted to.
Got them all!
On the College Queen section - #2 got the key of C# wrong - 7 sharps in C# major not 6 sharps which is the key of B major.
Was shocked to learn Carole Reinhart is still alive. She's now 80.
I've watched a lot of these, and it doesn't feel right unless I nod back at Kitty.
This is a gameshow, but it's also a show (and of many episodes) where you learn alot about history.
The first (real) contestant on here was the Captain of the famous boat "The Exodus." I never heard tell of it so I looked it up. The British surrounded the boat on July 18, 1947. A Jewish crew member and two passengers were killed. Dozens more suffered bullet wounds and other injuries.
How can I watch the movie? I've looked and looked on youtube and google and I can't find it!
You can buy the film on EBay.
I read a book by Nancy Stuart called Empire Empress about the Post family and Dina's Mother and relatives very good book if you like to read.
I'm glad they all guessed correctly in the final game. #3 seemed like an arrogant S.O.B.
Only $250 for each incorrect vote !!!!????
For that time period, $250 might feel like $500+ six decades later.
$250 of 60s money was worth sizably more than today
1960 house mortgage was 85 dollars
According to Google: $250 in 1960 is equal to $2,524 in 2023. Annual inflation over this period was 3.74%.
So sad to look up the boat Exodus. And we think we have it hard times with everything we have now. They had nothing but love for God...
"Knife...knife...knife!" 🍴
Lol.
Man #2 in Game #1
Lady #3 in Game #2
Man #3 in Game #3
Interesting that they applaud him and ship, even though it was our ally the British that tried to stop her.
