Everyone thinks their way is the right way, and points out the cons of every other way. So, now I'm stuck in this stupid cycle I can't get myself out of because of my food consumption is affecting my choices... XDDDD

I have a question for you.
I'm 16, and while I was growing up, my parents almost never told me "no" about sweets & fast food. If I asked to buy me "something sweet", my dad would come back with a cookie pack & a bag of gummies.
Now, as a teen, I've developed bulimia and I can't starve. Like really, I have a very bad relationship with hunger. I'm trying to cut (not all) sugars from my daily life, because I tend to over eat those. Do you have any advice ?
I'm mostly healed from bulimia, but I'm scared I'll start again..

Bulimia recoveree here: I had the opposite problem where my parents were strict about food types in the house and no matter how skinny I was, I was always told I could stand to lose five pounds. I went through periods of starvation, body harm, and binge/purge. I also had a really poor relationship with hunger, literally always eating and never feeling full.
I’m 31 and have seriously decimated my upper GI by forced vomiting. I have to sleep on an incline, I can’t eat much fat or large portions without feeling ill, and my body takes forever to digest now. I don’t want to scare you but…I also kind of do. I WISH that I had never started purging. It’s caused me so much grief. I don’t want anyone else to go through this.
I’ve only just started practicing intuitive eating, and this channel has really helped me restructure my mindset toward food. Just remember that your body needs sustenance and that you can still enjoy food, even if you’re trying to be better about your health.
I really like planning out satisfying and healthy meals, ones that I look forward to and can’t believe that I’m getting something so tasty even though it’s good for me. Using flavorful seasonings instead of excess salt and/or sugar is one trick. Another is substituting say greek yogurt for sour cream so that I can still eat a satisfying portion size without feeling as guilty (just like the lettuce instead of a bun in order to eat more fries). And sloooowing down how quickly I eat. If I use a small bowl, I’ll eat a lot less food and feel just as satisfied as using a dinner plate (where I will be tempted to overeat and then feel guilty enough to want to purge again).
Having someone to help you on your journey can be inspiring as well. But in the end (for me, at least) it needed to be a mental shift that I made for myself to stop abusing my body once and for all.
All my best to you. ❤ I believe in you!

I would strongly encourage you to see a professional and to tell your parents or a counselor at your school. Starving can cause organ damage and other issues even if done for a short amount of time - I developed stage 2 kidney disease after a few months of untreated anorexia - and bulimia can result in lifelong digestive issues and make you lose your teeth. I know it can feel like you have no other choices, but you do, and you cannot get the support you need from the internet.

Can you do a video about healthy habits for weight loss. How to not turn a healthy calorie deficit diet into an ED. For many your advice is good but for some they genuinely need to eat less carbs and not just to make room for fries. You can starve yourself or be overly nice to yourself. Neither one will produce healthy weight loss. Maybe make a video with scenarios about limiting food intake for weight loss but in a positive way. I believe many will relate to that. Because sometimes you need a few food rules to get to a healthy weight. Your videos help so many already so I definitely think that this would be a good topic to cover. 🩵

If you are getting your macros/nutrients and aren't going 2000 calories more than your recommended weekly calorie consumption you should be fine. You probably won't lose weight unless you were eating nothing but empty calories before but you shouldn't gain any significant weight. I say significant cause everyone's body is different so some may not gain anything and others may gain 2-3 lbs before they stabilize.

At my school we're learning about dieting and the things that they have taught us are just pure false info, they said that one isn't allowed to have carbs or sugar. Making more middle schoolers rethink their foods choices that will soon bring many food disorders at a young age that will follow them into adulthood

My body image issues started because we did a "nutrition" unit in Life Skills and had to keep a food diary. I ate an omelette for breakfast every morning. The protein really kept me going during school and then I would sometimes have buttered toast for an afternoon snack after school. My teacher wrote on my assignment that I ate too many eggs and too much butter and I was going to get fat. Those words reverberated throughout my life.
There are some really unhelpful teachers and classes out there. It sucks when they're mandatory.

Fries are my absolute one weakness food and when I switched to eating my burgers with either just one bun or lettuce wrapped (when available) it helped me SO much in not feeling so gross or guilty. I usually have the first 1 or 2 bites with both buns and the take the top one off and enjoy. I've been doing it for years and it's such a great feeling.

As someone who doesn’t have food rules I didn’t quite identified. I think it’s mostly bc I don’t think about what I eat unless I’ve been eating too much junk food bc it’s unhealthy and I feel it in my stomach. The idea of always thinking what you are eating it’s so crazy to me bc I have a craving and I just go and eat, wtv it is, I don’t even know how many calories someone is supposed to eat or not eat per meal. I really hope that anyone who is struggling with this gets better, you are perfect the way you are and people don’t need to follow a diet to get prettier, you are prettier when you’re happy and good food makes people happy

I also love the healthy diet mindset of "add don't subtract", like instead of eating a plain cheeseburger I add a few slices of tomato, onion, and lettuce and suddenly I have fresh veggies incorporated into the diet and the burger just tastes better and lighter to me
also I occasionally get a low cal granola bar that I genuinely enjoy the taste of soooo much and friends ask me if I'm keeping low calorie that day... no I just like how it tastes and that's what I crave that day, tomorrow I'm eating a few spoonfuls of nutella lol
