    I don't know what the owner of those boots does for a living, but he is lucky to have you guys working for him.
    Just superb craftsmanship! Thanks.

    I’ve gotta say, something I really enjoy in these kinds of videos is seeing the diversity in your employees, the fact that it’s not all just mid 30’s white men, the way a lot of companies are these days. You guys have all different kinds of people working there and it’s one of the biggest reasons outside of the product itself that I love supporting Nicks (and recommending them wherever I can) but not only that, I really enjoy catching the snippets of conversation because it’s a neat little reminder that everyone that works there is a real person, with a life outside of work, and goals and things they enjoy, and are not just corporate, capitalist machines, it really adds to the humanity of the company and reinforces the whole idea of it being a family rather than a job and a workplace.
    Keep it strong, keep it true!

      The boots could've been made by a team of exclusively Swedish-looking old guys and I'd still buy it if it was good stuff.

      @@Waldemarvonanhalt a valid and understandable point of view, but as someone who is in a minority, and one who doesn’t get much representation in media at that, it’s nice to see some diversity

    How many man hours does it take to do a rebuild and how many man hours does it take to make a brand new boot?

      Good question

    • @ravencanis8998
      @ravencanis8998 Před 2 lety

      @Kalidog101 it’s also the fact that you’ve got your upper that you’ve already broken in if you’re doing a rebuild, so it also saves having to go through the whole break in process again, they still (more or less) fit exactly like they did before the rebuild, so it’s also a comfort thing as opposed to purely cost

  • @jakesshopandtracktalk1835

    I wish you guys would show a typical resole. Everything is always either dry rotted or about 2 years past a safety officer kicking you off the job site. One of the “problems” with a Nicks boot is that it is legitimately still working great when other boots would have been thrown in the garbage months or even years ago. But it might need maintenance. I think I probably should have put new heel caps on back in about August, but I didn’t know that I should have. But then again I’m not all the way to the nails, so I don’t know. I understand that you need people to watch or producing a video is a waste of time, but I use the videos as a resource.

    Camera was a bit close on those close-ups, couldn't really make out what I was looking at except old leather. A bit too dark on other shots.
    On the gusset patching wouldn't one big patch like you did on the one boot be better than the 2 small ones on the other ? I think it will stand up better over time.

      It's cheaper for the customer to have Nick's rebuild his boots than to buy a new pair. A rebuild is $300 as where a brand new pair is about $550. So you save about $250 going this route.

      A nicks upper that’s already broken in to your feet/legs is invaluable.

    • @Nordic_Sky
      @Nordic_Sky Před 2 lety +2

      Having broken in uppers is a big plus. It really shortens the time in getting the new boots comfortable.

    • @corneliuscrewe677
      @corneliuscrewe677 Před 2 lety

      As others have said, a rebuild of everything below the uppers is much cheaper than a new boot. However, I ‘ve heard from several people they will refuse to rebuild a boot in this condition. I believe this is more of a demonstration of what they can do, not what they will do.

  • @chief1193
    @chief1193 Před 6 měsíci

    I don’t understand the rebuild, you replace everything but the upper, why? The upper doesn’t need to stay broken in, it’s the sole that breaks in, and forms to the foot. Why go through all that, just to save the least important part. Waste of time and money if you ask me.
