"He'll brainwash the Flash into becoming Ezra Miller" was a KILLER line! 😂😂😂😂😂
So😂funny bro I had to watch it again right after
Warner Bros are such idiots for not letting Ezra Miller off.
AGREED
Hilarious and true
Even though he abused and assaulted women, Warner loves Ezra
I like that the CW Flash series brought back John Wesley Shipp, Amanda Pays, and Mark Hamill to reprise their roles from the 90s Flash series/movies. Shipp actually got three roles on that show by playing Barry's Dad, Jay Garrick, and his 90s Flash. Dude received major respect despite his version being mostly forgotten.
Edit: And the CW Flash also brought back Prank, Bellows, and Julio's actors too. I never realized they were from the 90s show.
Glad they brought Corinne Bohrer back briefly too. She was so underrated in the '80s and '90s.
You have to give 90s FLASH credit for successfully filling out the checklist of Flash's top Rogues. The special fx weren't up to par in the 90s, so they improvised. MIRROR MASTER and PROF. ZOOM were flubbed, but they were THERE!
I never got into the CW shows but mad respect to them for paying homage like that.
If he's forgotten, when I'm pepperidge farm because I never forgot.
The 90s Flash had the best theme song and the best sound effects when running, too.
I do appreciate that the Arrowverse Flash brought back not only this Flash, but Mark Hamill's Trickster too.
What, mark Hamill was in the aarowverse, when, what episode?
@@1craley878 episodes actually season 1x20, 2x9 3x? Don’t remember the rest
@@1craley878 Season 1 of the Flash, episode 17 “Tricksters”. Very underrated episode.
@@1craley878 S1E17, S2E09 and S3E09. He's basically just playing Batman TAS Joker in live action.
And that he got to say the iconic line "No. I am your father" SO AWESOME!!!! LOLOLOLOLOL
Okay the line “it’s not guns that kill people, it’s these little hard things” * throws bullets at people* was actually fantastic
"Little hard things"
That’s gonna be my sarcastic comment the next time a 2a person says guns don’t kill people.
Sure they’ll be confused af (more so than usual) but I’ll be laughing.
@@joshuapridgen5714 Your conceit knows no bounds
For some reason, can imagine Ezra Miller doing that if he actually did have Super Powers
This line kills me 😂
I love how they never acknowledge that a super sonic punch from the flash would absolutely explode a human skull 😂
Seems like he kinda stopped before delivering the punch.
Mind = blown (apart)
@@randominternetweirdo5479 still the shock wave, bro
Hes holding back 😂
Yeah he knows that and pulls his punches. He's not a killer like Green Arrow.
So, Mark Hamill playing Trickster in the CW Flash wasn't just "hey fun guest actor" it was a callback to the OG show like how Barry's dad was played by John Wesley Shipp. Fantastic.
I was bummed that he didn't come back for a scene with Kevin Conroy in the CW version of Crisis on Infinite Earths (where Barry would be surprised that he was called the Joker in the other universe).
@@calebowens693 That would have been pretty fun.
@@calebowens693 Yeah, sadly he never shows up after season 3.
I thought it was just a reference to him being the Joker (because James Jesse was a Joker-type character) but it turns out it’s him returning to the role that lead him to being the Joker
Don't forget Tina McGee
I loved the fact that the ‘90s Barry Allen played the Dad on The CW version of ‘The Flash’.
And Jay Garrick
@@seanpatrickcain2 AND 90s Flash
He still played this character in Flash. Like No Way Home, CW Flash gave him the ending he never had
How is it for him to know that’s he’s better known for being Barry’s dad than being Barry?
@@ezelfrancisco1349It was before No Way Home.
"Guns don't kill people... it's these little haaaaard things!" might be my new favorite line.
I met John Wesely Shipp at a comic con a few years ago. Really a good, stand up guy who seems to appreciate the fandom for this show.
I met him at a con too. He was a super nice and wanted to take a bunch of pictures with us. All around great guy!
That's good news from both you and @Sharksleep who replied.
My spouse and I also met him at a convention, he was so sweet and enthusiastic interacting with us. We love our signed 90s Flash DVD set.
Yeah, I got to meet him and Jackson Bostwick at same con, and they agreed to a double photo with me.
This would have been…2012? Jackson was still sore about DC renaming Cap into SHAZAM! and all that nu52 nonsense.
same, gotta say, taking a photo with was awesome.
What's not mentioned is that Mark Hamill also reprised his Trickster role on the Justice League animated show too.
I find it interesting that this series and John Wesley Shipp got a lot more respect from the CW Flash series when compared to the 70s Spider-man series and Nicholas Hammond being completely forgotten by every iteration of Spider-man since then
the 90's animated Peter Parker was drawn to look like Nicholas Hammond
It’s because The Flash series in newer and thus in relatively recent memory and was overall more well received than the Spider-Man show.
TBF the only 70's spiderman show people want to remember is our friendly neighborhood emissary from hell
@@Tfbrave True but the American show had better wall crawling effects (how did they do that back then?) Especially in the scene where he jumps up and attaches himself to the roof to avoid some armed swordsmen.
@@WimpyKelv12By rotating the camera to make it appear he's crawling up a wall when he's really crawling on the ground. The Batman tv show from the 60s used that technique often too.
That Seven Of Nineties joke was a deep cut but I am 100% here for it.
Tasha and Seven. Awesome
1:57 To be fair, Barry Allen needed to refuel himself with lots of food to replace the calories he burnt out when running around a lot.
Yep, that was one thing the CW Flash never seemed to remember in 10 seasons.
@@ajclements4627 Actually, in one of the first episodes Cisco invents some kind of superfood powerbar that has all the calories Barry needs for his running shananigans. I suppose that's what he eats in between scènes🤷🏼♀️
@@joajoythe point is to show that kind of stuff, you know....giving character?
@@ninjanibba4259 I agree
Great now I'm hungry.
Next they can do a multiverse type thing where they bring back old Flashes, presumably to capture and arrest the current one.
Hey they set it up already, Ezra's Flash met Grant Gustins Flash in the TV adaptation of Crisis on Infinite Earths, and Grants Flash met the 90s Flash (who's also his dad...who's also Jay Garrick...don't ask), so they can just do it easily
they already did that in the show like 2 or 3 years ago
I understood that reference
That's Across the Spider-verse
this guy died tho duing crisis...
"It's not guns that kill people, it's these little HARD THANGS!"
Oh nah, I legit liked that one.😂
I'm sorry, but "It's not guns that kill people, it's these little HARD things!" is a line that has lived rent free in my head for 30 years.
7:23 cameo from writer/artist Howard Chaykin (Star Wars, American Flagg, The Shadow, Dominic Fortune, Batman: Thrillkiller), who was a writer & script editor on the show.
It was so cool to see John Wesley Shipp reprise this role in Elseworlds and Crisis on Infinite Earths.
I watched this recently and it was totally enjoyable to watch. It might be different from today's standards, but they got it right. Good, interesting, imaginative, fun stories. That's what I want in my shows. I also love the production quality which was ahead of its time for a 90's show.
The show was never given a chance to find its footing. They kept changing time slots.
I’ve never seen it but it does sound kinda fun! Where did you watch it?
@@stargirl7646 it's right here on CZcams!
@@stargirl7646 available on dvd
I saw it when it originally aired and bought the dvds when they were made available.
Glad they brought him into the CW version.
And he died
But he was there.
Did he play the same version of Barry Allen/Flash from the 90s show in the CW show? Or did he play the OG version of Jay Garrick/Flash? I stopped watch the CW Flash after a season or two.
@@bIametheniIe he played both
@@DavidLimReport yeah this Barry was married to Tina McGee
This show deserves a proper remaster on 4K since it was shot entirely on 35mm film stock.
Dude, I'm Gen X. This is all we had and I'm still here for this awesomeness
1:13 That's actually a pretty cool effect, considering the time. What it would look like if someone was moving really fast, got that Agents from Matrix vibes.
That's a classic Gil Kane/Carmine Infantino scene from the comics. One I was hoping to see in the live show and they nailed it!
Gotta respect the cw flash for lasting so long!!! Also I love how they gave this flash a proper ending even though he sacrificed for cw berry It was still epic!!!
Omg. The "brainwashed into Ezra Miller" line made me spit up and laugh while at work.
I remember that show. Given the budget and effects technology at the time, they did what they could. The last scene was him running through the city and everyone standing in place until the direction said ACTION. I didn't know there were direct to video movies though.
Well, there aren't really. The first movie is just the feature-length pilot. The Flash II: Revenge of the Trickster is just episode 11, The Trickster, and episode 21, Trial of the Trickster. The Flash III: Deadly Nightshade is just episode 8, Ghost in the Machine, and episode 15, Deadly Nightshade. So, until the complete series was released on DVD, those three VHS tapes with those 5 episodes were the only home video releases for the show you could own.
one of the most random things I remember this for is . . . it run from mid-hour to mid-hour (I grew up with Central standard time, so 7:30-8:30pm) I honestly can't think of any other hour-long show (counting commercials) that did that.
I love this show, it's still my favourite version of the Flash. I don't care how cheesy people think it is, it's a fun show with a great cast. Plus, it has the best Superhero costume even if it doesn't have the yellow boots.
I haven't watched an episode of the 90s Flash in a long time, but it looks like vastly more entertaining than the CW teen drama Flash
@@BrandonJuhl The boots are just reflecting light, they've always only been red on the show
@@bIametheniIeNostalgia goggles
The suit looks bad with the extra padding
Same here, agreed.
John And Grant are the definitive Versions Of The Scarlet Speedster.
To be fair, the nerds (of which I was one) *were* complaining about Iris not being a redhead (and other changes the show made). We just didn't have Facebook and Twitter back then, so we were just talking to a few other nerds on the few Bulletin Boards.
Yea the writers have gotten worse with time. Half the videos are afraid to critique any new movie. They wussed out
Iris West having reddish hair must be fairly new in the comics. It always looked brown in the older comics.
I was wondering about that... there was no way the statement was truthful given how seriously comics were taken. (Far more than today) Disappointing Screen Junkies has to push agenda and lie.. but it wouldn't be the first time I have seen it now.
I remember more people complaining about Barry not being blonde. To this day, there hasn't been a live action Barry Allen that actually looks like Barry Allen.
@@--Random--just say the n word. We all know that’s what you mean when you say “woke” in context with black people.
I’d have more respect for you. Well… sorta. Maybe like a small hair more.
having been a teen in 1990... this show was a MUST watch... lol... i seriously loved this show and this is still "my Flash".. :)
4:25 that Seinfeld impression is hilarious
I remember when the CW did the episode where Barry and jay ( who also played his dad)went back in time, Jay looks over at the tv, it’s Dawson’s creek playing and he smiled at Dawson❤ love inside jokes like that, especially having original cast members play a role in remakes.
That was not Barry's dad. That was Jay Garrick who pulled Barry out of the speedforce.
Because Barry was about to create another Flashpoint
@@jovanbirkemose9691 correction the same actor played both the Dad and Jay
It was obviously a cheesy show to say the least but teenager me enoyed it a lot and it actually made Flash my favorite superhero ever.
Facts 👍🏿
Still my favorite version of the character, so wholesome and cool
I agree 100%.
5:59 Fun fact: Shirley Walker would go on to do the music for _Batman: The Animated Series_ and much of the DC Animated Universe.
Love his walk.
The 90s movies and shows were a blast in the past.
The 90's Flash TV show is one of my favorite shows. I loved that it was simple, it didn't try to be more than it already is, the effects were fantastic for the time, it was character-driven for the most part and it was just altogether fun. This has always been the *real* Flash for me.
That was an excellent show, and I will tolerate nothing bad said about it. It was every bit right up there with the 1989 Batman. ❤
10 years later, Sci-fi channel used the same template to make Invisible Man tv show. A good-looking powered hero, a British girl scientist helper and a quirky sidekick helping him. Still loved this show. :)
Thanks for finally mentioning the whole Harley Quinn Inspo thing - people keep seeing Hammill and Joker, but they just completely miss the fact Prank was Harley.
5:13 No mention of the Trickster (again voiced by Mark Hamill) in Justice League Unlimited? Actually, I'd LOVE to see an Honest Trailer for JL/JLA!
Oh Man Richard Belzer (RIP) adding another link to the Law & Order universe.
amazing Joker voice in the "does anyone care how I got these scars" joke 6:59
I watched some of it a few years ago when I got into the CW Flash Show. What struck me the most was the excellent score ... Danny Elfman of course! I really l liked the episode where Barry met the retired superhero, a guy roughly based on Sandman, it had some Batman Beyond vibes to it.
The era when people knew how daft and camp the genre was and didn't pretend otherwise.
I remember taping this show on VHS so dad could see it when he got back from business trips.
I loved this show so much. Its why i love the character to this day.
I loved this show back in the day. When John Wesley Shipp showed up in the CW Flash, I just about jumped out of my seat with delight.
This show is awesome. If you think it's bad, you haven't watched it.
It was fun, but it was never given a chance to become great.
All I can say is this: when you're 11 years old and still high on the thrill of the Michael Keaton Batman film, this show is AMAZING. This was a really fun show 30 years ago and helped set the stage and pave the way for a lot of DC properties that came after, including Batman: The Animated Series. It was never perfect, but it was very entertaining!
Since it never played on any of the main channels here in Britain, and since I didn't get cable till 2003, all I ever saw of this was the three movies on vhs. Then managed to catch a repeat of one episode on our version of the sci fi channel when house sitting for someone in 2001. And then I got the Dvd in 2020. I waited nigh on 30 years to watch all of this. And I loved it! More so than the cw version, which lost its way for me from season two onwards. It does take about a third of run to find it's feet - initially the network wouldn't let them use costumed villains so he is just fighting ordinary crooks - but from the episode ghost in the machine on it really clicks. Even more so in the last third when they make Barry and Tina a crime fighting partnership. Comic book action with stories complete in one episode. I don't think it's bad at all. I think it's a great show and it still stands up well.
And nobody says 'we'll get/stop him. I promise.' What's there not to love?
I love this show. It was so awesome that he was brought back for the CW and bittersweet to see him go in Crisis.
It was a lot of fun in its day, maybe the best Flash costume yet, I would really like an action figure.
This is a blast from the past. I have such a hankering to rewatch this show now.
Oh my goddddd I just got to that Ezra choking a lady part. I haven't laughed this hard in so long. I gotta rewind again 😂
Ok, I may VERY well not be getting something here, but... why is that funny?
So with Mark Hamil with a laugh like that and Danny Elfman doing the theme music and such.
Yep. Definitely a precursor to Batman: The Animated Series
Don't forget they mentioned Harley Quinn before her character made her debut in TAS.
@@deensaid7762 true
This show actually seems like fun!
That Heath Ledger impression was on point! Mans got talent.
Callbacks to Jurassic Park 3 are always appreciated.
3:33 : easy, social media wasn't a thing then.
😆 🤣 😂
To be fair, there aren't a lot of 90s shows that hold up today.
I must find some Northern Exposure and Due South to test that.
The first few seasons of Sliders are still great, and home Depot, Drew Carey show, 3rd rock from the sun
Was going to say Farscape but that started in 99 so it doesn't count.
@@jr2904 yes Sliders was pretty good it did suffer with the CGI in certain episodes.
@Cyber_Smoke farscape is one good show, Star Gate, and Atlantis were a couple more. But the majority were just meh.
Weird that the Deadly Nightshade, the titular character from The Flash III: Deadly Nightshade, wasn't mentioned in the list of villains. Anyway, this show is a blast. And, not included in the movies so not eligible for the video, but one of my favorite moments is where Bryan Cranston just randomly threatens someone by pulling a ninja star out of his jacket.
This is one of the best costumes of all time.
I agree that the costume holds up
2:43 - so... apparently the Flash is a food thief because there's no way he was able to order that food AND have it bagged up in a couple of seconds.
The Flash's weakness has ALWAYS been physics just because without it he's quite literally the most powerful thing in the universe.
How does Barry breathe while moving at supersonic speeds?
I actually binged this series before the new one came put
Respect for John Welsey Shipp
My first Flash 👏🏼👏🏼
Love the special effects! This ought to be a gold one! 😊😊😊😊😊
If you haven't seen it, so bad it's good, especially Hamill in the unitard vs Flash😂
I loved this show. I watched it every week. We had to love what little bit of geek stuff we could back then. It was rough back then.
This actually looks pretty good and i always liked his costume
Pikes hideout IS the Foot Clan's hideout. They reused part of the same set.
I loved this series! Just couldn't find it because days and times changed so much. Glad they had him return for a bit in the new series.
Let’s all remember that this Flash had his deserved ending in CW Flash
Oh man, Mark Hamill AND Police Academy 4's Corinne Bohrer?!? HOW DID I MISS THIS
I legitimately really want to watch this show
Yeah, it was bad but it'll always have a special place in my 90's heart.
"He'll brainwash the Flash into becoming Ezra Miller." - welp, you got me again, guys 😂
45:11 The lovely Gloria Ruben from Timecop and Mr. Robot, too!
I'd take this version of Barry over the two Ezras they want us to suffer through during the new film
This show was pretty decent for the time, and the effects were expensive enough that its average for the time-slot viewership, wasn't enough to keep the show going.
Now that Treat Williams has sadly died, you should really do « Dead Heat » (1988)!
💀
Deep rising man
First thing I wanted to watch after I found out he died
Please say "Shut your eyes, Marion. Don't look at it, no matter what happens!"
It was cheesy, but you have to remember this was an era where there were NO Marvel properties in theaters other than Howard The Duck. And the only superhero cartoon was Captain Planet....at the time "The Flash" was amazing
I was 13 when this show was on, and I LOVED it!
the difference between the 2 iris and i mean the CHARACTER, is that the first one wasn't a gigantic pain in the a like the most recent one. and that's all writers fault.
I knew I recognized John Wesely Shipp, the first thing I ever saw him in was The Neverending Story Part II. To know that he was once The Flash is just wow!
Kids today don't understand how cool this show was back then.
Please do the Superboy tv series from 88-92
That was such a classic, but hardly anyone I know has even heard of it.
Okay, you did 90s Flash. Now please do Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
Yo I finished watching the 90s series just yesterday! What a coincidence!
I didn't realize Mark Hamill was the trickster in The Flash (90's) version. That makes the fact that he voiced the Trickster in Justice League Unlimited so much cooler.
Holy crap! was that Denise Crosby at 2:05?
I have never really seen it, but you have made me want to watch them. You made it look awesome.
This show was awesome. Of it's time but still brilliant.
Give these guys credit: I watched this unknowingly in 2x and thought the fast playback was a funny in-joke about the flash going fast, but apparently not. It was just me.
Please do an Honest Trailer for Mission: Impossible - Rouge Nation (it's the only one you haven't done an Honest Trailer for yet)
I think you mean "Rogue Nation" but now I hope he gets it wrong too
@@damienstadler8919 Is it time to revisit "Rouge One" yet?
This show was amazing to pre-teen me, how dare you!
I remember being so excited when they announced this show, and then it aired. I still watched it because there was nothing else on on our four channels on Saturday nights.
One of the best comic shows ever made...
