It's upside down to indicate a tail slate, which is done at the end of a take when a normal slate is impossible. It helps the editors with identifying individual takes as a sort of ID tag.
Johnny Cage is for sure my favorite character in all of Mortal Kombat. From both gameplay and story perspective.

@@ChocolateKieran Yeah, we do. The fights adds a bit extra beyond the reaction, and a short break from it, they just get a bit repetitive to watch. So making it 1 fight was an absolute W.
Glad I decided to make that compromise! Doing all 2/3 rounds just felt like it’d get boring quick so glad it worked out haha, I’ll keep doing it this way then
Ed Boon actually holds the record for longest continuous voice actor for a character, if I’m not mistaken. He’s been co-voicing Scorpion (namely the “Get over here!” and its variants) since the very first game!

i have been getting your mortal kombat videos recommended for a while as i have been watching different people play other mortal kombat games. finally decided to try your videos and i have got to say having only one fight is a great idea that is the best way to not make it feel repetitive and fun at the same time

44:32 no Raidens powers were natrual and in the previous timeline (mk11) he gave his powers to liu kang and he became the god of thunder and fire but in this timeline he asked the elder gods to remove raidens lightning and put it in that amulet so that raiden in this timeline could use it

okay, so before I say anything more, due to story related reasons, some moves are locked and unable to be used, but as you see with Raiden, and if you checked his move list, you'd notice he has his entire move set after getting the amulet XD.

let us remember that Liu Kang made this universe from scratch, putting extra care in removing Hanzo Hasashi as Scorpion and giving Jax a new life, but also making Baraka no longer a born Tarkatan, but a being _[infected with] [the now disease of Tarkat]_ that Liu Kang himself _intentionally created_ for the purpose of giving birth to Baraka as we know it.
not only did Liu Kang wipe an entire race as established up to MK11 (as good or bad as it may have been, but still an established RACE!), but he _turned_ innocent people from _other races_ into this new Tarkatan species, for the sake of having the iconic look and behavior of a Tarkatan as we understand it to be.
and by Liu Kang I mean Ed Boon.

In the previous timeline, Raiden sent Kung Lao to his death by fighting Goro. While Raiden didn’t mean for it to happen, it still lead to Kung Lao getting his neck snapped by Shao Kahn.

I love that subtle jab at past Raiden at 45:10. Raiden back in the previous timelines sent Liu Kang and all his other champions into tournaments that got so many of them killed or horribly mutilated, and Liu Kang's like "I'd NEEEEEVER do that to MY champions... wink wink nudge nudge yo stupid ass got me killed in a previous life, mf"

might be just me saying things, but _mmmmmaaaaaybe_ it's not _entirely_ a good idea to make "your very first MK story" what would otherwise be the *4th chapter of this saga* in terms of current narrative.
IDK... call me crazy, but I believe you're supposed to start from the beginning, when taking up a story.
Yeah you’re wrong on this one 😂 this was a VERY good introduction to a new player. It’s a reboot and they explain enough to actually make it friendly to new players.

I will be honest with you. First half of the story of MK1 is good. I love it's first half. Because, it feels like they hit us with something new, but after that in the second half MK1 story turns in to a pile of garbage, and it feels like writers were not payed enough to make whole story good. And the ending is just trash, man. I will not spoil everything for you because you just started it, but I expected better from new game, considering the fact that Ed Boon said that it is gonna be a reboot, when in fact it is not. It only looks like a new story, but later it just starts where MK11 has ended in it's Aftermath DLC. So yeah, I'm disappointed with MK1 story (and not only).
