    I like your description of tough and/or challenging trails as “Grim.” Yes, that is exactly how it feels sometimes. Here in the USA, I/we tend to think about the trail: Tough, unrideable, etc….. But grim--that is what we remember when we encounter a nasty trail isn’t it?
    UK double tracks look awesome and I can’t wait to do some one day. But UK mountain biking frequently looks like riding a bike on a hiking path…..and grim if done with a standard MTB. Maybe it could be done with a fat bike?

    What’s your thoughts on the ride, following 18 months of reflection? I remember we discussed it - Looks technical - but is it worth visiting on two wheels again, or stick to Shanks’ Pony?

      The switchbacks are barely rideable really. I think it would be good as part of a loop up and over into the Langdales and maybe tack it onto the Blacksail loop which we’ve talked about. It’s a fun section to ride though and we’ll have to check it out next time we’re up there. 😁
