Okay, stop. It was not KD vs LeBron one on one. I'm a warriors fan, and even I'll admit we had FAR more talent than LeBron. KD still had James harden in OKC, and during kd's time with us, we were worse when Steph was out but KD was playing than when KD was out and Steph was playing. The best analogy I've heard for kd's place in basketball is Randy Moss joining the Patriots. Randy is one of the greatest individual talents of all time, if you just went by the eye test, he's always been the best overall athlete on the field. But he's not the one making it all work. He may fit on pretty much any team, but he's not a system in and of himself. Randy is not Tom Brady.
KD is Randy Moss. Steph curry is the Tom Brady. He's the system. LeBron James is a Tom Brady, a Peyton Manning. You have him, you have a shot. But you don't instantly become a super bowl contender just by adding prime Randy Moss to your team unless you've already got the QB and the system. Just like you don't instantly become a title contender by adding KD unless you already have a system in place and primary stars to run it

But shanahan wasn't giving Julio Jones 10 carries a game from the backfield and 15 targets a game as the number one receiver. Heck, I would question the sanity of anyone trading essentially the entire prime of a guy of BI level for 34 year old KD with all the drama. I've always been high on Brandon Ingram even when he was on the Lakers. I thought it was a MASSIVE mistake for the Lakers to include him in the AD trade. Cause you KNOW KD is leaving after 2-3 years. We won BACK TO BACK CHAMPIONSHIPS with him, and he STILL left. So it literally does not matter how well the pelicans would perform, he'd still want to leave. I'm not mortgaging my all NBA level 25 year old wing for that volatility
