A couple things that may help you, always use a torch to light a fire. It increases your odds and you can use it multiple tries. When searching vehicles, don't forget to search the visors, you may find notes under them for little side quests. When you read the notes, like the one you found on the prison door, check your map as it should mark the location on the map. Good luck with this series. I love this game!
It's a good idea to pull multiple torches from fires before you head out, and then keep the one's with longer life bars for future lighting. Don't forget to harvest items you can use to repair things with. Also, they like to put things in really hidden areas (such as behind stacks of boxes or under furniture). Really enjoyed the video!
@@rer1972 Good call. I usually take 3 or 4 torches. Also, I found a pistol under a chair that I was harvesting for the cloth in the Milton House once and now I take everything apart! lol
Adding to this, if food is above 25% (condition isn't yellow) it's safe to eat if cooked. The inventory screen shows X/Y for your weight. X is what you're carrying, Y is your max carry capacity without encumbrance. If Y is red, that means a status effect (tired, injured) is bringing it down. If X is red, you're encumbered.
Indeed, this includes meat (cooking automatically raises the condition by 50%, so you can cook raw meat that is at 1% and then eat it just fine). Don't be put off by the mould lol
Yup. I carry three torches, I pull them from the fire and then extinguish them right away so they have a higher life span. I also collect old man's beard moss and make disinfectant swatches it helps with bites and infections, you can also make make shift hat and gloves right off the bat if you got the cloth..
YES! G9 doing The Long Dark is the series I've needed my entire life.
Yeah!!!!
I love this series, I hope you keep it going strong!
*Sleeps for 9 hours and is still tired*
Man, I know how that goes.
I'd be getting out of that area and away from the pack of wolves. Also, when you've searched a car, open the hood. Easy way to see that you've already searched it
This game is seriously one of the hardest survival games, especially if someone chooses to play on interloper mode. It's such a huge area that any newbie player will find themselves running in circles through blizzards, trying to avoid wolves, whilst freezing to death. It's brutal. I love it. Any new players should try voyager or pilgrim to learn the maps.
Once you find a sewing kit, repair your clothes if needed because they'll keep you warmer then usual. Hoping this helps!! Absolutely love this series so far!!
.... and swap clothing items around so you can see what arrangements benefit you most with what you have
It hurt to watch you run passed the fire barrel down in the sewer system multiple times 🤣
I came here to write this exact post lmao,
Yep, he had enough wood to make several torches for exploring too
To a lesser extent the Jerry can next to the lockers down there as well
Is there something really good down there? If it was me I wouldn’t be going down there to start either, I’d go for the wardens office
11:53 he walks past a fire barrel yet again lol.
A couple of food tips: until you are in a good place to hunt, ration your food and only eat before you go to sleep. You only lose 20 percent of your health throughought the day and get back a bit more than 30 percent sleeping 10 hours (Probably more recovery on stalker difficulty). You will get a carry weight bonus if you keep your food up for 3 ish days but that is very expensive calorie wise.
The meat you tried to cook but it said moldy would have been fine as cooking meat instantly restores 50 percent condition. I believe cooked meat has a pretty low chance (3-5%) of giving you food poisoning from 50-90% condition. It will give a parasites risk since it is predator meat but as long as you only eat once piece a day till it goes away it is only a 1 percent chance. Not too much of a risk if you need food or already have 10 doses of medicine.
Keep it up! This is my favorite game so I love watching someone explore it and learn all the secrets. Good luck!
New ark series and a new the long dark series. You spoiling us Glock. Keep it coming Sir.
Glock is keeping Tony’s spirit alive by trying to get himself Thick’d in the first episode down in the sewers. Oh the temptation of loot
So any singular action is something related to someone who died of poor genetics?
I love that he ran past the burn barrel in the tunnels while bemoaning his lack of light options
2 of them! At least I think there were 2. Ya, 10:34 and 11:07
Not sure if anyone else said this, but when you cook meat you gain 50% of the condition the piece of meat had primarily. So the mouldy wolf meat you have was around 50%, if you cooked it, it would jump to 75% and then it would be ok to eat. Usually food below 30% is risky to eat.
Ive been loving Neebs series and now your starting one too this is great
So happy you're doing this series. The concept is so simple, but the game is so nuanced.
I believe if you crouch before you go outside, you will stay crouched to help not being spotted as easily.
G9 don't forget to look under the sun visors because they sometimes hide papers for Hidden loot
When you find clothing or shoes you don’t need, make sure to break them down and use the cloth/leather to repair the clothing you’re wearing to boost the heat bonus they give you.
One of my favorite Let's players playing one of my favorite games. Don't forget to check under the sun visor in vehicles. Also, if you haven't played the story mode yet, I'd love to watch you try it.
Thank you, so many people rush though the vehicles!
jump in the back of four doors too, there’s sometimes stuff in the seat pockets or in the footwells
This makes me want to jump back in The Long Dark!!
Great episode! Looking forward to the next 🤘🤘
So stoaked for this playthrough! Fyi, Food above 75% condition will never cause food poisoning, except raw meat and fish. Packaged or canned food items at or above 20% condition are also completely safe; the only exceptions are Chocolate Bar, Granola Bar, Peanut Butter, and Tin of Sardines, each posing a risk between 1 and 3 percent.
* draw several torches out of the fire and bring them with you. indoors (and outside if it is not too windy) those torches will help you. and you can always light the next torch on the old one when it is almost finished.
* start your fire always with a torch (saves you matches)
* someone else wrote it already but I repeat it here: check the visors! lately you find something there too!
* the back seat of the cars are an extra place. so make sure you get in the car in the front and in the back.
* and you need to look very carefully for loot, it is often very hidden - but that will come with practice you'll get a feeling for where stuff could be.
* the downstairs of the prison - you could have walked all the way through and back out at the other side
* you had a hat and gloves the longest time... put on all clothes for warmth. Choose carefully which ones you wear. It also matters which are inside and which outside (windprotection only works as outer layer for example)
* repair the best clothes. leave bad behind or rip it up to rags.
* you can get frostbites when not wearing gloves or a hat - that makes permanent health damage. so gloves and a hat are always recommendet, even the crappiest ones
* the raw meet you carry around with you will attract wolves. better cook it up!
* if you cook the mouldy meat it gets better! you see in the stats if the food could harm you (with food poisoning). You can even cook ruined meat and than it is save to eat again.
* if you stay at one place for a little while: drop your meat outside, it stays fresh longer
Can't remember the last time I was as excited as when I saw this video in the feed. The Long Dark is my favorite game and you are one of my favorite content creators. Having said that though I can't begin to tell how frustrating it was to watch :) Since I know the maps by heart it was really hard watching you stumbling around and missing all that loot. Blackrock on Stalker is surely quite the way to start as a new player. I'll do my best to hold off on giving tips, you can only enjoy the unknown of a game once, and this game is a master at teaching you through your own mistakes. I will however say two things. Probably best to hold off on charting the maps, at least until you can do so without freezing. If you really need to get your bearings, use the spray paint (in clear weather). It doesn't use time unlike the charcoal, and you still get to see where you are on the map relative to other sprayed signs. Secondly, different fire fuels are worth more or less. Sticks and reclaimed wood burn the least for their weight, coal the most. Best not to just chuck everything in a fire, keep a piece of coal or two as a reserve, and only use as much wood as you think you'll need. You can sorta get the wood back as torches, but otherwise any excess wood burned will be a waste. Not the most important pieces of advice by a long shot, but they for some reason irked me the most :)
It made me smile every time you entered through a doorway, turned around, and closed the door behind you saying, "Let's close THAT door!" You say it here in TLD exactly like you do in 7D2D, where I first found your channel. Thanks for your great videos, Glock. You're funny a pretty funny guy. Thanks for the smiles!
Some tips and tricks for you G9:
* wolves fear fire, using a torch (made in the camp) or a flare scares them a good trick is throw the flare an GUN the wolf.
* Killing one wolf will scare the others.
* Brown wolves are timberwolves, they are harder to scare, harder to kill and more persistent on hunting you.
* Any animal sans the moose can bleed to dead, a good trick is shoot them with the revolver, then escape to inside any place and wait one to four hours until they die, this is the easier way to hunt for skins.
* moose can tank easily any firearm but the rifle, just use the hunting rifle.
* If you want to hunt a moose, the best way is gun it with the rifle and run inside a place (or if possible, shoot it from an elevated zone, mooses cant jump nor climb, they have to find a pathway from were you are, this gives you time from extra shoots or escape).
* is RNG but sometimes you can scare a wolf if you hit them with a rock.
* there are two furnaces in the whole game, you need to reach them if you want to survive in later days (you can make arrow heads, survival knife and the crafted hatched).
* You can make fire indoors but only in some buildings.
* Collect all the coal you can, its the most necessary object if you want to use the furnace.
* Choose a main "base" for long time survival, let the skin, saplings and guts to be cured there meanwhile exploring other zones. Usually the best ones are near fishing huts, since fish is unlimited food resource.
* beaches randomly spawn objects, this is a game savior once you have explored all the zones.
* NEVER leave your base during the auroras, wolves and bears become fearless during them.
* Wolf and bear meat carries parasites, only eat it when you have no option.
* you can make a unique bear coat with the bear skin, it scare wolves sometimes.
* never fall from a ledge, even a little ones, your character easily breaks their legs.
* You can heal slowly if you are "full" (not hungry, not thirsty and rested).
There are more tip and tricks but for now, just i will give you these ones.
I think you missed a jerry can of gas in the steam tunnels, next to one of the lockers. And cooking meat improves the quality by fifty percent, so the wolf meat that was mouldy at 51 percent would have been 100 percent when cooked. There's also a lot more gear in the warden's office and other parts of the prison.
You're a madman for starting this game on Stalker this is gonna be fun!!
Honestly Stalker is way too easy. Interloper ftw. If you wants a real challenge try NOGOA!
I doubt it's his first time playing this.
@@WildElroy13 judging by how he plays the game and his lack of understanding for game mechanics I’d say he’s definitely not experienced though. Not hating just stating a fact
So excited for this series! Love ya, Glock! Long live the Wyvern King!!
Is Glock the new Wyvern King?
@@charlotterolph5373 There will only ever be one Wyvern King and his name was Thick44.
@@ShadowKingRecks you god damn right!!
I came too see who was mourning Tony. I would like to see glock take his place in neebs gaming.
@@plumbherhub1664 no one could ever take his place, but I wouldn’t mind some cross-channel action.
I enjoy The Long Dark too. It's absolutely unforgiving. One fuckup and you're dead. No respawns, no mercy.
This will be a great series, nobody better than Glock9 to get this going!
Hey glock! Make sure to check the sun visors in cars, and when you cook meat the quality of it improves
18:42
You definitely fit right in the prison.😂
I loved Glock saying we can't light a fire down here when he was standing right next to a burn barrel.
I've played over 1400 hours in this game over a 10 year period. It's a fantastic game.
When I saw this on my notifications I'm like glook9 is making all my favorite games into a series
You can't start a campfire indoor but you can light a fire in a fireplace or a fire-barrel indoors like the one you ran past at 11:53. You could have then take a torch from the fire to see.
Also, always use torches to start fires. You can light the torch with 1 match and save a bunch of precious matches that way.
Holy, this game is so chill. I think I’ll stay here.
Check under the visors, the bed of trucks, and back seat of cars. You can also check the hoods and trunks when you get a pry bar.
The biggest pain is choosing what to take and what to leave behind
Timberwolves hunt in packs and are the most dangerous. Fire or blue flares are the best to keep them away.
Also always check the visors of the vehicles. You can find codes or hidden loot.
Good luck! ❤❤❤
"I'm playing on Stalker difficulty, which is one below the hardest difficulty. It said for Veterans, which I'm not... But how bad can it be?" That's the G9 I know and love
Nice. Been meaning to play this again myself, since last ep came out. Oh! And don't forget! You can also get messed by MOOSE!
Literally the only person on the map, still closes doors behind himself 😂 You can scare wolves away if you drop a lit torch in front of you and aim a rock or weapon at them. Also, you can eat moldy meat as long as you cook it.
One of my favourite games couple of tips if your looking for any, if your fire still has time left on it always take multiple torches from it and you can then chain them to keep fire with you at all times just drop the one you carry and light a new one from the one on the floor,
You can scare off a normal wolf by dropping a lit torch/flare at your feet and aiming at them with a stone.
Line+hook for fishing line it can be used as a sowing kit
Check ice for cattails they are food and tinder
Well done Glock. That was awesome. Just make sure to put on any clothes you can as soon as you fin them, and keep an eye on how much fuel you need and if you'll freeze overnight if the fire goes out.
But overall great job man. I couldn't think how to get out of the dark prison tunnel area before the flare went out. Great job man. Legend
That little house you found at the end is an excellent place for a base of operations to kind of search out from and come back to, of course having a door would be ideal but it's still a decent place.
You cook the meat and it will get in better condition and won't be moldy. So many things for you to discover. The prison is a great starting point, I can't wait to see you figure out how to get inside. It is a giant maze to get in and get around.
I love this man! I can't wait for you to get tragically mauled to bits haha. It was super funny hearing you poop da pants with the prison wolf in the beginning :) The only non spoilery suggestion I would have is to gather like 50 sticks, make a fire, dump them all in there and then pull out as many torches as you can. Then if one of your torch is going out you can throw it and light a new torch off of the dropped torch. Also if you drop a lit torch and aim at a wolf with a rock but don't throw the rock he should get scared and run away. I am so excited for this series man. Good luck and have a good week
You ran out of flares? Pack of wolves on your tush? Just put a rock in your hand and aim at the wolves. That'll scare em' off
So glad to see these older games getting some play. A lot of emphasis today is on the big MMOs that require high end PCs, this thing can be run on your old laptop. Glock9 is always fun to watch by the way. Nice job.
Hell yeah a new challenge for glock it's going to be an amazing series
Use the wood matches for a better start percentage 👍 pull a torch, extinguish it, pull another torch, extinguish it, repeat 🔥 when the torch is about done just throw it on the ground and light another torch off of it. Have fun G
This is your kind of game! No risk, no reward.
Useful tip: collect cattails bc not only are they good tinder but also good emergency food
22:34, “It’s not just any grape soda, it’s Stacy’s grape soda.” Props to anyone who recognizes this meme.
When in the inventory screen there are 3 tabs at the very bottom in the center. One sorts by weight, one by condition and the third escapes me because I use the other 2. Thank you for the content good luck in TLD!
All you need to get wolves off your back is a torch and a stone. Drop the torch at your feet and aim a stone at them.
They’ll charge then turn away once they get close.
This works well with the normal wolves
Also drop the torch and use it to light others that you can throw at them.
Timberwolves you can throw torches at to break their morale.
I could be wrong but I believe you need to hit them.
Great start to the series! This game gets *intense* ! That pack of wolves was one scary sight!
Definitely excited to see you play the Long Dark Glock! It’s one of my favorite survival games. Truly a hardcore survival game. Tip: Cooking meat improves its condition. So it’s worth cooking even poorer quality meat, it might just become edible. Best of luck and hope you enjoy your time in The Long Dark!
Plenty of comments about sun visors already. You can take multiple torches from a fire if you have burn time than you need. Each one takes about 12 minutes worth of burn from the duration. You need to find the sewing kit. If you can repair your clothes to where you go out in bad weather without dropping heat like a rock, you will avoid a lot of wolves as they in their denss waiting it out.
A tip for when you're lost in the woods with a sealed tin can of food and no can opener.
As people often are.
Find a flat stone and run it over the top of the can again and again. The layer of aluminum between the lip and the lid is very thin and as aluminum is soft can easily be filed through using most rocks.
Glock, you can pull torches from the fire when you are done with the fire, then extinguish them, and stash them in your inventory for when you need them. Can always use torches to light other torches and fires to save matches. The torches you pull will only have like 20-50% health but if you stash like 10 of them youll be golden
Would totally watch a full long series!!!!!
RIP Thick 44.
you can also check the visors in cars, sometimes theres a note with a hint to a cache. and you can cook moldy meat, its gonna be fine once cooked
Kudos to you for starting out in Stalker so early in learning the long dark. You are right that it is one level below the hardest difficulty but it also has the MOST wolves of any of the difficulties. Good luck.
The long dark has such incredible story telling. Can’t wait to see you explore more.
Love this game, been playing like crazy for the last few months. A couple things, you won’t be able to get into the ammo workbench room at the prison until there is an aurora, even with the code. Second, you should go grab the ballistic vest back at the prison, really the only reason to come to Blackrock- stupid timberwolves.
Check vehicle visors. Carrying meat draws wolves. As soon as you aim at a wolf (maybe all animals but deer and rabbit) they will attack.
If you're in desperate need of supplies or are in a place you're based in, take the time to break down closed cardboard boxes and the solid green crates. Besides the plugs and wood, sometimes they have supplies inside (it's not common, but what *is*, in TLD).
Of course the first building glock finds is a prison. 😂
The long dark is one of my new favorite games. I played the campaign, now im working through a 100 day survival run.
After you cook meat, its condition improves by 50%. The moldy meat would go from 51% to 100%.
Always keep spare torches and a stone on hand for wolves. If a wolf (not a timberwolf pack) is approaching, hold a lit torch/flare and wait until the wolf runs up and stops in front of you (it wont attack you right away). Then use the radial menu to equip a stone (this drops your lit torch), hold aim (don't actually throw the stone), and the wolf will run away. Then just pick up your torch and move on.
I love how Glock puts his name and all of the known things. The Blair Glock project? Hilarious😅
@18:05, Glock9 has two pairs of Jeans, Neebs would be jealous :)
Definitely gonna be watching this series
YES!!! Glock9 always on the edge of death and never letting it close. This should be EPIC!
FYI moldy meats will have their condition raise by about 50% . However, bear in mind in Stalker carnivore meats run the risk of giving you parasites when you eat it.
If you go up to the wardens office in the prison, using the climbing rope, you may have a chance of getting a weapon.
The clothing slots closest to your character are better for warmth items. The slots farther away should be used for windproof or armor. Always put better condition items on the outside.
Gotta say watching you play this game with the 7d2d mentality was awesome.. 10/10 would watch again.. wait im commenting on this too early.
You make so much great content!
I am STILL not done playing catchup with all the 7 Days series and now I have to watch the Arks too, before I start on the new Fjordur, AND NOW THIS 🤗🤗🤗
….. someone remind me…. does Long Dark have cornmeal? 😜
no cornmeal in TLD, very sorry :D
Lmao Glock just showed us how actual wilderness survivors walk in circles and get lost without realizing it. Amazing.
this man got lucky with the bridge in the beginning timber wolves are no joke
This gonna be one of your best series this game is great
My favorite survival game! Awesome u finally checking it out!
Bags of meat decay 10% per day. Maybe more on higher difficulty, idk. Its also heavy. Harvest that junk and cook it asap and drop it outside somewhere safe to freeze for maximum length of freshness.
I stopped playing after making it 300 days on interloper, but I see there have been lots of updates since then so I may pick it back up. Some tips Glock: eat before you go to bed at night only, it will heal you the most even if you starve all day long. (Edit, you're playing stalker so you'll probably find enough food to eat anytime you need to)
Him running from those timberwolves as his marine flare was about to go out was so tense
Four Wolves chasing you on day 1 wanting to eat you with that little gleam in their eye. And you thought 7D2D was bad haha
Not sure if/how it works in this game but, in Meatworkd, the Root remover [[Potassium Nitrate, the Sulfer and one other ingredient you have access to in-game can be combined to make Black Powder-Pipe and a couple of other items, use your torch to set it off and you have a barebones shotgun. Or, with some thought you might make something to solve your Wolves problem.
Glad you are playing TLD. Don't forget to grab torches from your fires :)
"Denim isn't the best for cold weather." Oh yeah? Well explain the Canadian Tuxedo then! 😁
Find the random old lady she gives hints on where to find food and sometimes a gun.
Excited for this play-through of Canada Simulator
Hearing Glock say “moldy meat” cracked me up 😂
I have been wanting to see you play this for years. I’m so glad it’s finally happening.
"how hard can it be?" was carefully carved on a lonely cairn looking down into a valley... as i search the corpse for loot , don't think he's gonna need this anymore..
Here I was thinking this was a new 7 days to die series 😅
Glad you got around to playing TLD, hopefully you have fun and make more videos on it. Wish you all the best G9!
