Tip if you want it! ❤️ You can take and extinguish multiple torches, keep them in your inventory. Then take your lit torch, when it's almost burned out throw it, take out your new torch and light it off the old torch. You can keep chaining them like that and use less flares. Loving the series!
Also! If a wolf comes to attack you. Drop the torch at your feet and aim a rock at them to scare them away 👍

@@aaronhalling1476 this trick ruins the fun of the game tbh. at least at did for me. as soon as i mastered this trick (and trust there are some nuances, for example if you drop the torch and lets say just stare at the wolf for like 5-7 seconds - it will attack you even with the torch under you. you need to aim immediately ) the thrill of the game was gone, i no longer was scared of the wolves, i just treated them like an AI that can be exploited.
Strongly recommend that you either leave the non-packaged food behind or just eat it. The smell from that food is a detection beacon for wolves.

There is something about Glock's deliberate yet reckless gameplay that I find so fascinating. Such a legend.
Pleasant Valley is one of the friendlier places for a player to live. If you follow the main road out of town (the opposite direction of that bridge) you'll eventually reach a farm that has a nice house with a workbench in the basement, and a chance to spawn a firearm.
Also a bear wanders around and some wolves, but it's enough pleasant
@@somerandomdudeOG There's definitely worse places to live though. My favorite is actually Coastal Highway. The gas station/garage is a good place to hole up, and there are so many fishing shacks close by.
@@BaoHadir Check out an island that region, if I remember the one without the bear cave is one of the safest places, there's only like one wolf, plenty of rabbit for traps, wood, a fish hut nearby, that house was my go to base in coastal highway
Pleasant valley has some of the worst most unpredictable weather, its one of those ironic names like greenland and iceland

Traveling against rocks to block the wind is always a good idea when you can. Also they hide loot in this game big time like under beds and behind things.

You really need to pick and choose what days you go out. If I step out the door and it's high wind with rapid loss of temp, stay home and work on things close by like gathering wood and reading books. Go out on the calm days.
Try to go outside with approximate moldy winter clothes in the middle of january in the bush in northern Canada and try warming up beside a small gathered sticks fire and see if it warm you up 😅
I also like how you've accidentally avoided getting cabin fever by being so nomadic
Hey Glock love the series. I know you hate when ppl tell you what to do in these but ppl have been leaving some good tips. I started playing this game because of you and your audience tips have been very helpful. For example the grab multiple torches from fire place. Using a torch to light fireplace, using a torch going out to light a new torch.
That community hall was my main base in the game. Stayed in it to slowly craft better clothing before I started to wander further.🙂
It's kinda amazing how a game with little to no enemies is so damn tough and stressful. Your only constant battle is the cold and the player character's needs to just live and function, with the occasional wolf attack. Honestly I'm loving this series and this game, can't wait to see more
I play on second difficulty and die to wolf attacks constantly
Not sure what game you're playing, but I'm constantly being chased by wolves and bears even without any scent on me.

How frequently something tries to eat you depends very much on exactly what you’re doing at the time, but even on easier difficulty levels, a prolonged play through will run out of prepackaged food relatively quickly (especially for players who don’t like to spend too much time carefully checking nooks and crannies for goodies, like Glock)… so you’ll tend to be up against the critters quite quickly.
As the wind increases, it draws heat from the body, driving down skin temperature and eventually the internal body temperature. You need to find the windbreaker and wear it as an outer layer to make use of it's windproofing.
Please keep this series going as long as you can. I am loving this series and I get so excited for these videos. Keep up the epic work!
First time ever I've seen someone exited about airplane food
Before leaving Pleasant Valley be sure to visit Signal Hill. Quality clothing plus firearms to be found there (or at least there used to be. They shuffled loot spawns around in the December update).
Glock, your bedroll provides another 5 degrees of warmth bonus, might have pushed you over into warming up temps. Also protection from wind or warmth bonuses from heated drinks help. Loving seeing you have a go at The Long Dark, would love seeing more.
everytime you make a fire you can take a bunch of torches from it, if u want to go on a walk take a bunch of torches when they are almost running out throw on the ground and fire the next one with it

Unpackaged food is a ring of Wolf Attraction,
Don't know if it still works, but leaving meat/fish outside a building stopped it deteriorating
the circling crows usually mean either a dead body or an animal carcass.
Always eat wild game meat first! Wolves and bears can smell any venison/fish/rabbits that you are carrying and will home in on you.
Also, you can often (though not always) drive wolves away by throwing torches at them. You need to try to hit them in the face with the throw but even if it lands at their feet it will usually work.
If you mend all your clothing to new status they keep you warmer and provide more protection from the elements and animals. I've found a bunch of pistols so far and not one rifle and it's so frustrating because I want to make a moose bag and the pistol ain't gonna cut it against a moose.
Word of advice, if you can keep your food and water from dropping to red for a few days you'll get a health and weight boost. Not particularly hard early on but super useful... also don't forget water does weigh a bit, 2 liters is about 4 lbs, each can gives .5 liters (so about a pound).

Take multiple torches out of fires. Extinguish all but one, then you can relight the others before the one you are carrying goes out
When you make your fires take lots of torches and just keep lighting them from the last one as you are walking. Drop a torch in front of you and aim a rock at the wolf and he will run away.
Pleasant Valley has a very ironic name because it's coded to have more chaotic weather patterns than other maps. Blizzards sometimes come on really fast with little warning. While he was wandering around in the woods I was really surprised he didn't get caught in a blizzard. Since he doesn't know the map, that could end his run. Pleasant Valley is the biggest map and it's really easy to get lost there. Still though, surviving getting lost in a blizzard is the most fun thing about this game imo

I don't have the stats but you can Google it. Different wood fuels burn at different temperatures. When all you want is to cook, use sticks and reclaimed wood. When you need to warm, you may need fir, cedar or coal. Those times that a fire doesn't seem to be warming you, you need better fuel.
Not gonna lie, I was hoping the fire was gonna fail at 95% too haha. Loving this series man keep it going.
Wolves get attracted to you when you carry raw or cooked meat, fresh guts, or fresh pelts. Make sure to eat your meat before starting the journey back.
glock a huge tip, if your fire isnt hot enough make some hot tea or coffee it will give you 25% heat and a heating bonus for a while so you can always warm up even with a cold fire
***There is a hidden cabinet in that new building u wanna settle in. The cabinet is under the stage( The right side) ,behind a table u need to brake . U should try it,maybe u get some good loot.
Instead of having wolves follow you until your flare/torch goes out, place it under yourself, then take a rock, aim it at the wolf and it's gonna get scared and it will run away.
The sound of all the growling wolves is literally scaring the crap out of my cats. 🙀🙀🙀😆😆😆
Keep yourself fed and watered (above half) for multiple days-I think 6-in a row to get buffs

The farm house is pretty good loot and if I remember correctly there’s a big barn somewhere aswell with a work bench and lots of open ground to lay pelts down

This was a good day for another fine episode of TLD. Even if there's danger and some violence it's a relaxing world that makes sense, unlike the very stressful irl day I just had.
Did not know you could move stuff after you drop it like that. Just like the parking break in 7 days to die, I mainly watch Glock 9 to learn mechanics I never knew existed in games I have way too many hours on lol great vid!

In the community centre theres another cabinet behind the tables and stuff laying against the stage….you just need to break them down to get to it.
Can you imagine how bad the stink would be in that cabin with all of the critter bits curing?

Animals can smell you in this game, carrying around animal part makes you "stink" more and thus easier to find that way.
You should head back to the fishing cabin to pick up the hatchet and other stuff you left behind

If you run while a wolf is hunting you, they are more likely to attack you. That's probably why they've been very brave, even when you've had flares and stuff lit.
If you can avoid traveling with meat, fish or guts... you will have less problems with wolves. They can smell it.

Hey dude, so if you were looking for an end game try to make it the the Forsaken Airfield. There you can find a heli to fly away in. ... Just a purposeful thought for the series. Either way good luck and just stay alive. Bonus tip: keep your hunger up. It gives you an extra 5 kilos of cary weight.
