Hey Karie! Your family of 6 might not be able to fit in the Wawona though haha, the base area is kinda small. A Wawona 8 would be better!
I think it's worth mentioning the warranty, which the REI one basically has none after the first year of the return window. TNF has a lifetime warranty on the other hand.

Hey I loved your 6 man tent review and I love this video too you are awesome. I am considering this 6 man north face tent, but I would like a slightly larger vestibule space, I’m also 6”5 and my wife is 6” so space is important. I am close to buying this using your REI link but just before I hit go is there any other tent with similar levels of north face quality with just a bit more space that you would recommend?

As for your question, hmm, so far I haven't tested out any other tent that has a bigger vestibule than my Wawona 6. Do you want more space in the tent itself or the vestibule? Are cabin tents something that you can consider instead? They have way more space than can accommodate to you and your wife's heights than shorter dome tents like this.

If you're looking for the better vestibule though, I'd go with the Wawona. From the looks of it, I think it has much more livable space thanks to the near vertical vestibule walls, while the Marmot's seem more sloping. I hope that makes sense! 😅

Thank you for your videos, you helped me finalize my decision to move forward with the Northface Wawona. I do wonder how do you feel about the custom underlayments that they sell? I’ve always just gotten construction plastic and cut to fit my tent. But I thought I’d ask if I’m misunderstanding a benefit to the custom underlayments.
It was my pleasure! I'm really glad I could help 🥰 I didn't buy the footprint too, you can use any cheap tarp off Amazon that fits haha. I don't even cut them, I just fold them in 😆

@@CampingGuidance Hi sorry it took me so long to get back to you. We got it at REI garage sale but it was brand new. Used it last year under heavy rain. I agree with your review and experience similar facts such as back door feeling moist. The vestibule is fantastic.

Hi,great video! Have you found a work around with the rain fly on the wawona 6 to close in the all mesh front door? Camping in cool / cold weather makes my W6 a problem. Its strange that they dont have a wind proof wall.
Hey! I actually quite like the wall cos it's always super hot where I am so I've never needed a workaround, so sorry :( I've heard of another viewer hanging up cloth/tarp or something to close in the front mesh if that helps!
Great review. I just donated my 6 person REI Kingdom 6 and bought a used Kingdom 8 (2018) that I love for set up all summer at home in the forest. But I like having a 6 person tent for longer trips. I've been torn between a Wonderland and a Wanona and this helped me decide. It rare that I walk laps around the tent so the extra headroom on the side isn't a big deal but being way up north, I want less mesh and more weather protection. I also hadn't thought about the fact that Wanona includes the BIG vestibule in the price of the tent whereas the REI tents have you purchase a "mud room" for a bigger vestibule. But the Wonderland has had some great sales lately whereas I never see the Wanona marked down in pric. Plus, I'll admit I like a green tent but just got a North Face 2 person Stormbreaker and very happy with the sunny colors. Thanks for helping me decide.

Thank you so much for your comments as always 😊 Hmm if you're looking for more weather protection, the Wawona definitely is better for you. I'd pick it over the Wonderland any day, to be honest. And yes! I love that the big vestibule is included in the price, and it's really hugeeee 😊 Actually during this year's REI anniversary sale, they marked the Wawona down by 30%! It's true that they don't mark down the Wawona as much as REI gear, but sometimes you could get a good offer here and there! 😊 Oooh how is the Stormbreak working for you? That's the next TNF tent that I've got my eye on!
@@CampingGuidance Yes, I got the Kingdom 8 on the REI used gear site. All of a sudden a lot of good used tents were for sale...they sold fast. I was so happy to get the 2018 model in great shape as I like it better than the newer model. Sorry I missed the sale on the Wanona but I'll keep watching and saving up my bonus points. :). I haven't camped in the Stormbreak yet but hope to get out this week. It's really tall and I can actually stand up bent over in it, making getting dressed easier. I am going to do a camper van tour of Iceland next summer and want a small tent to sleep outside in case my buddy snores, lol. Thanks again for the great videos. I agree with your advice about budget tents as well. And my favorite four person tent is Big Agnes Big House, another idea for review.

Wawona 6. Hi there is an upgraded model May 2023. Is the review based on the newest model in the market? I also heard it has a double wall, better water proof, but hard to set up. Please guide. Thank you.
Hi Moses! Hmm I didn't realize there was an upgraded model last year. So far all the retail stores only have the model that I have. It's double walled, well waterproofed, and takes 20 minutes to set up. Do you mind letting me know where you found details on the latest model?
