Btw for the vestibule, i think the measurements can vary by a few inches depending on how you stake it out, but I think mine was pretty taut (and probably near the maximum). This is easily the best review video series I have seen on CZcams. Great job 👍. We're normally rolling through trials and climbing rocks in our side by side, but are going to do an overland trip next summer on the upper peninsula of Michigan. This tent looks like the one, and of course we'll use your links when we purchase.

This is such a thorough and well made review! I just start looking at tents yesterday, but I looked at a lot of tents and this looks like it might be the one I get. I might get the 4 person version because it's cheaper and I plan on only using it for myself and possibly one other person. However, having extra room might be nice too. I'll also check out the other video you mentioned at the end to see other similar tents. Maybe one of the others would be better, but this seems like one of the best tents I've found for the price. I plan on traveling in a van across the U.S. but I want a tent for extra space when I'm going to be in one place for a while. I plan on going to Arizona around the end of August/beginning of September and staying around that area for a while, so I need a good tent that will last a while.

It really means a lot that you like the review 😊 hmm I don’t think the 4P is as good value for money as the 6P because if I’m not wrong, the 4P doesn’t have the super huge vestibule and you’ve got to pay extra for it. If you have room for the 6P, I’d recommend getting that instead of the 4P. Let me know which one you end up going with! 😊 oooh that’s really nice! Traveling in a van has always been on my bucket list too. Let me know how it goes! 😊

I’ll be at Oshkosh this year, too! My first time going, super excited for it.
I haven’t tried the tent yet, but have used the Exped and it is great. One thing I am looking for to complete my sleep set up now is a really good pillow(Hest is so far at the top of my list). I hope that someday you will do a review on pillows as I really enjoy your channel! Keep up the great work. I love the amount of detail and thought that goes into your reviews!

Very nice job reviewing this tent. I bought one three months ago at Christmas time for myself .extremely satisfied with it. I have been living on and off in it for the last eight weeks and I’ve hit 40 mile an hour winds, and some pretty heavy rain here in South Florida. Love the vestibule. Would not recommend it for six people but two or three Full size adults would be very comfortable in it.

@@CampingGuidance I like videos that are well produced, informative and well presented in a no-nonsense fashion. Each to his own, I guess. I really appreciate the effort and time that go into producing these videos. Obviously, I enjoy your videos very much.
I car camp so I don't mind bulk. I want space, even though there is only my wife and myself. LOL we are not young any more so space to accommodate cots and being able to stand upright is important. What I desire most is speedy set up and take down. Weather resistance that I can count on is also import. However, I will consider a tent that is more involved in set up IF it has some killer features.
My list is really short. Beside the Wawona 6 for the vestibule and awesome performance in the heavy rain, the other ones are:
Gazelle T4 Plus, which checks all my boxes
Core straight wall cabin tent with full rain fly
MAYBE Gazelle T-Hex

I totally understand wanting space! A lot of my friends love car camping too, with palatial like tents hahaha. So far I haven't found anyone to go backpacking with in tiny tents, oh well. It's great that you already know what you want and need from a tent :)
Ooh as for the combination of speedy set up + weather resistance, I've heard many good things about the Gazelle T4! I've also had another subscriber of mine share that she bought the Gazelle and loves it! When are you planning on buying a new tent for yourself? I'm planning to test + film + publish a video on the Gazelle T4 by the end of this year, so sorry I'm a little slow on the production so far.
@@CampingGuidance I need a tent by August, so perhaps I'll get it in July so that I'll have time to get used to it and deal with any manufacturing/quality issue before the trip. Please don't apologise for your production schedule. You can't possibly have reviews in time for everyone looking to buy tents.
I have seen some really lavish glamping set up on YT. I have even seen tents with an opening for an air conditioner! 😂😂
It would be interesting if you eventually would share your camping trips on your channel. May be you can consider videos on camp site set up, what and how to pack for a trip, etc.

I bought this tent last year. I thought a 6 person tent would be good for 2 cots and our 45# Bernedoodle. It was too crowded for us but held up well to the weather.
I just ordered the Coleman weather master 10. It might be fun to take both tents and invite friends or my grandchildren.

Thanks! one of the best reviews I have seen on YT! I had just ordered this tent from REI (big sale) before I watched it. WE have a Eureka 6p that is getting old, but we have gotten used to the huge floor area and vertical walls (one 56" Q size bed). seeing the inside of this one in yr video with the mattresses was a huge help in visualizing daily life with the tent. we would lose 13" of space on EACH side of the bed compared to the Eureka, and with the slanted walls it would feel even worse. Since we usually car camp with a pop up shelter we don't really need the vestibule so much either, although it would be nice to have... I will have to re-evaluate this purchase before I open the boxes!

Hello again! 👋🏻 Thanks for the update! Hmm the base area of this is slightly smaller than the Sundome that you already have, but not by much though! Oh and also just take note that you can't have the rainfly over the tent without the vestibule. It's all stuck together in one piece, so that's a limitation to take note of. I hope this helps! 😊

This tent looks like it would be a perfect setup for bunk cots for small family use. The cots aren't cheap, but if you ever end up acquiring them down the road for your own camping adventures, they'd make for a good comparison with the air mattresses or sleeping pads.

I'll definitely get around to them sooner or later though! Thank you for the suggestion 😊 The walls of this tent slope inwards quite a bit though, so I'm not super sure if it'll fit more than 1 bunk cot? I could be wrong though!
I have the disc-o-beds, size large. You can fit them in there (4 beds total stacked) but there is hardly any room left. If the tent were the exact measurements that are stated on the website it would be doable.

I was seriously considering this tent, however after watching your review I am afraid it is a bit cramped ....width is just too narrow. What a shame. I am looking for a quality tent that will comfortably fit two cots, one against each wall, with some room between. Any suggestions? By the way, your reviews are so awesome, I subbed.

I have a Nemo Aurora Highrise 4, and I am looking to replace it with something else. There was a lot to like about it, but the vestibule design meant that it was a huge pain to get in and out of, which after a very rainy trip just ended up being a deal breaker for me.

I would think that majority of the tests I did in this video should be applicable, except for maybe a few minor changes in the setup and number of doors. They should be pretty minor though!
Excellent review / presentation. I bought this tent and several good quality tents from leading manufacturers over the 50 years of camping. I highly recommend the Wawona 6 for 3 season camping.

Nice tent. I use a 6 person by myself when I'm staying in one place for a week or more so this would work well. The vestibule is very well done, better than the REI "garage". But I like the REI Kingdom 6 horizontal walls better than the Wawona dome sides. I do love the full coverage of the sides and windows by the rainfly, unlike the REI Wonderland. Wawona is definitely something I'll consider. Thanks!

I haven't really had the best experience with Ozark Trail tents, and I think the quality of Coleman tents tend to be better. Does this help? Otherwise, would you let me know what you're looking for in a tent? Both tents you're looking at look rather similar! But I think Coleman's tents tend to be a little more waterproofed. Ozark has like NO waterproofing at all, at least in my experience.
I came to the same conclusions you did. You can't beat this tent for quality, especially since I got it for $225 back in November. Like you I wish the window zippers were on the inside, however it appears to in an effort to keep it more weather protected it was necessary to do it the way they did. I was also disappointed then I measured out the space, i think mine was short by 3 or 4 inches either way. That made a pretty good difference in how I was trying to set it up for us to sleep in. If you are a family of 4 or less, it's a great tent! You can't beat the storm readiness of this tent. I do wish there was a way to remove the fly but leave the vestibule area on days were no rain is expected. How did it compare to the older version? Was the older version bigger? I think I paid more than double what you did haha! But I still love it though (despite the higher price). Did you get it during Black Friday or something? Yeah I guess it probably was the best that they could do, but still feels extremely strange to have windows that open from the outside. Sorry to hear that your space was so much smaller too, guess I wasn't the only one :( And yes! Hopefully one day they allow us to leave the vestibule intact even without the fly. To be honest by the time my friend handed me his old Wawona (I'm to help sell it off for him), I already had the new Wawona so I never thoroughly tested the old ones. It usually takes me days to do so, so I decided to save a little bit of time by not thoroughly testing it. So sorry about that :( I don't think it felt bigger though, and I did notice that it's much faster to set up, but of course there's less versatility since it's single-walled. And I think TNF also upgraded the poles, so I'm glad about that 😊

It shouldn't be more than 7 meters, so it'll fit fine :) The length of my entire tent was only about 5.1m (without guylines). And you can adjust the guylines to make sure they don't pass the 7m mark (which mine didn't).

Wonderful reviews. Ive been going through all your videos to get more info on my first camping trip. Is there a 2 person tent you recommend that's under $200? Also, have you had any experience with the Exped 15?

It really means a lot that you like my reviews and you’re bringing them too! 🥰❤️ sadly I don’t have any experience with the Exped 15, but I think you can expect the quality to be just as good and it should feel even more plush because it’s thicker! But of course it’ll be warmer and pack down bigger too. That’s all I know about it 😅 and yes! I’m currently working on my Best Budget Tent series and I think I’m gonna be featuring Teton Sports, Alps Mountaineering, Quechua and Coleman. These are the main brands I really like. I really like the Teton Sports Mountain Ultra, it’s probably gonna be one of my best picks. It’s more spacious than the Alps Lynx and has better hot day ventilation which is why I like it. Really waterproof too. Sorry I’m not ready with the reviews yet though :( what else are you looking for in a 2P budget tent? If you let me know your priorities I may be able to narrow down options for you 😊

Having 2 doors would also be great. i don't mind if the tent is a little on the heavier side either but I would like to keep it under $200. Im currently looking at the REI co-op Trail Hut 2 and the North Face Stormbreak 2 at a local REI store near me. There seems to be hundreds of different brands out there it's hard to tell which ones will be reliable. Anyways, i look forward to your video!

And so sorry just wanted to clarify, my Best Budget Tent series keeps the tents under $100, so with $200 you’ll have plenty of other options like the REI and TNF! You totally gave me such a great idea to do Budget Tents under $200 😅🙏🏻🥰 I’ve had my eye on the TNF Stormbreak for such a long time, I do want to eventually get it. In my experience TNF is a little higher quality than REI so I’d go with TNF instead if there’s not too much of a price difference 😊
Thank you so much for this wonderful review-- I was so excited to see it up when I checked again last night! It seems like a fantastic tent, but so does the REI Basecamp 6-- I am so torn! Any chance of a comparison review? I am looking to replace my Nemo Aurora Highrise 4 because I just find it incredibly awkward to get in and out of due to the design of the vestibules. I need something that I can get in and out of with minimal crouching, and where I have a covered space to take off wet boots, jackets, etc. before getting into the tent in rainy conditions. I feel like the Wawona would provide a lot of space for this, but it kind of makes the tent's overall footprint potentially too big for some campsites' tent pads. Do you think the front vestibule on the Basecamp 6 offers a large enough covered space to comfortably get out of wet gear on a rainy day before entering the tent? (I am about your height.) I am also torn about the ventilation profile of each tent. I never sleep when it's hot and stuffy, which makes me worry about the Basecamp 6, but I also camp in cooler weather and that huge front mesh-only wall on the Wawona looks like it might lead to some very cold, drafty nights. Did your testing include sleeping in the tents? I'm just wondering what the experience is really like in each tent under various conditions. Thanks again-- your videos are so detailed and helpful!
Hey Amy! Thanks so much for checking upon my channel, it means a lot! 😊 And yes! I'm working on the comparison review as we speak, but I think it'll take a minimum of 1 week to put it together. Probably more. Could be up to 2 weeks. So sorry about the wait :( But thank you for sharing about your Nemo Aurora Highrise! I don't have the tent but a few of my viewers have suggested it. And yeah I think the Wawona's vestibule definitely gets rid of the crouching problem for sure! It's so roomy and I really love the vestibule a lot. But actually I think the footprint of the Base Camp is just as big as the Wawona. The 2 vestibules of the Base Camp is actually slightly larger than the Wawona's single vestibule. (I'm working through all the calculations now for the comparison video! 😊) The Base Camp front vestibule height is about 62 inches (before it starts tapering off), so it should eliminate most of the crouching issues as well. And yes! I slept in the tents as well, but the thing is, I only ever camp in the summer, never in cooler weather. And yes, I found the Base Camp to be pretty stuffy, and since I have the Wawona, I'd pick that over the Base Camp. The Base Camp would definitely be much better for colder temps though. It's a 3+ season tent, whereas the Wawona is a 3 season tent mainly for summer. I hope this helps! 😊

@@amyhill7658 Hi Amy! Thanks for the reply as well! I'm really glad that you found my response helpful 😊😊 Oh man I'm so sorry though, I didn't try sleeping in the Base Camp without the rainfly. I usually camp only towards the end of the year + the beginning of the year. The weather is cooler at night, but comes with more unpredictable storms, so sleeping without the rainfly isn't a good idea for me haha. The rest of the year for me is too excruciatingly hot to camp :( So sorry about that Amy :( But yes! The less mesh actually gives you a lot more privacy. If you shut all the 4 windows, you'll have only the mesh ceiling. But I can imagine it still being a little stuffy because the non-mesh fabric will definitely limit ventilation.

I read that people have two complaints about this tent that I hope you can address: 1. People say it smells like stinky bugs from the flame retardant; 2. Some say the front door feels drafty because it is only a meshed door. Do you have any comments? Thx. Love your videos. Super thorough!
Thank you so much! It really means a lot that you love the videos 😊 I appreciate it! As for the complaints, here goes! 1. When I bought it last year from Amazon, I actually had a choice between no flame retardant coating and with the coating, so I chose the one with no coating. So I didn't have any issues with smell. I went back to Amazon and the options seem to have changed. But I think you can still contact the retailer and ask for no coating if you want to! 😊 2. And yup it's only a mesh door with almost no way to close it up, unless you close the vestibule as well. So I wouldn't recommend this tent outside of summer and in cold temps. I personally like that it's made of so much mesh cos it's only ever super hot where I am 😂 I hope this helps!

Hi Crystal! I bought the Wawona at the end of November last year! 😊 Mine's the updated Wawona with the separate fly, so I could take it off to stargaze and for more ventilation. My friend's Wawona was a single walled tent (so no separate fly). I hope this helps! 😊

Hmm if I'm not wrong, I think 3 season tent usually means more mesh, which means usually for use during summer. I'm not sure if both the Wawona and the Wonderland have enough fabric to keep you warm outside of summer though. 3+ season tents, if I'm not wrong, can be used during the shoulder season, but not in the winter. So, if you're planning to camp in all 3 seasons, I'd recommend the Base Camp instead. It's a little hot in the summer, but tolerable if you leave the doors open. It'll keep you warmer in the off-season than both the Wawona and Wonderland. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions and I'll be happy to help 😊 And yes! So, my plan is going on trips mainly in summer and in the late spring and early fall such as September and May.
I think the lowest temperature will be around 40 degrees at night in the Spring or Fall in the forest. Will it be still cold?

To be honest though I don't camp outside of summer (because it's only summer where I am), so I haven't actually tested this, but I think late spring and early fall close to summer should be doable 😊 I found the Base Camp to be a bit too hot with the full rainfly in summer, so perhaps that's not as great an option for you. Your are in a tent! Not a hotel room. If you feel it cramped, go buy a 30 person festival tent. Or try a 1 person tent in a snow storm on a mountain side. Then you'll appreciate this huge Summer tent. Other than that, a nice comprehensive test and description.

Hey Ali! Hmm I haven't used any Zempire air tents but a couple of my camping friends swear by them! I think the quality should be really good. But they are a lot more expensive. I think if you have the money, you should go for the Zempire tents and try them out! If not, the Wawona should be a lot more affordable. I hope this helps a little!

So far, the only tent that I've tested which has both darkened rooms and is very rain resistant is the Quechua 2 Seconds Tents from Decathlon. They're pop-up tents, and I reviewed them on this channel too. Sadly though the biggest size is a 3-person size. I don't think they have a 4-person size :( Would that still work for you?
@@CampingGuidance I already have a 2 second Queucha but I wanted to buy a new, more spacious and more permanent tent that has 2 distinct areas, one for the day where I can relax and eat and the other for the night area. I could do without the darkened rooms but the new tent must be a 4 season and rain resistant. Sincerely watching your channel I was very disappointed with the Coleman brand. I was expecting much, much more. I'm looking around but I'm very confused. 😬
@@francescozoppetti999 Ah I see. Yeah the 2 Seconds tents aren't very spacious. Pretty small and low in fact. Hmm I don't have any 4 season tents to be used in the winter though :( But I do have 3 season tents that are rain resistant if you're interested (Wawona for 3 season, Base Camp for 3+ season). These tents have distinct areas, don't have dark rooms, but aren't 4 season. Are you planning to go camping in the winter?
Nice review of this tent. Those are not the steaks that i am use to seeing or eating. 😂😂😂. If you fall. There is a air mattress to help you. Also, can you reach the top center of the tent? 🤔🤔. Finally, where are you located? Your voice sounds loke you have an accent.

Definitely not comparable to the Eureka in terms of peak height. And I'm from Singapore! We have a weird accent here so if I spoke normally, you'd probably not understand me 😂 I usually try to pronounce my words in a more American way cos that's where my audience is located 😊
@CampingGuidance if inhad the choice between this tent and the eureka. I would pick the eureka. It is alot bigger to me. Even though this tent on the video has a room out in front to change.

I had an older Wawona 6 and it was Terrible. The first time out in a storm the front vestibule zippers broke. Also under the wind the tent leaked Horribly!!! Maybe the new design is better, but the one i had was useless in a rain storm!
Hey Michael! Oh man I'm sorry about the older Wawona. I didn't test that one, but their newer version that I got in 2022 (this one here) is really great in rain though. No zippers breaking and no leakage at all too. 😊

Hi there! The front door is just mesh. There's no other cover for it (excluding the vestibule door). I wouldn't recommend it if you're camping out in cold temps or in a desert (cos the sand can blow right in). I hope this helps! 😊

I don't recommend going for the Wawona 4! Cos it doesn't come with the attached vestibule, and you have to buy it separately, which really sucks. And between Base Camp and Wawona, that depends on which season you're camping in! The Wawona is on a fantastic sale right now, so I'd think that's more worth it. Hope this helps! 🥰
