‘Sovereign risk’: Japan slams Australia’s cancelled projects by Labor

  • Nationals MP Keith Pitt slams the Labor government for cancelling projects it already approved with Japan noting there is “sovereign risk” to investing in Australia.
“Others benefit off the back of Australia’s resources,” Mr Pitt told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“In Victoria it is cancelling gas … they are going backwards.
“We have seen royalty increases in Queensland that are now the highest taxes in the world on the coal sector.
“As an outcome? Well, we are seeing less investment and we are seeing countries like Japan … publicly saying there is now sovereign risk in Australia because the Albanese government cancels things it already approved.”

Anastasia Palaszcuzk won the Olympics for Qld, then disappeared, where are the tourists going to stay? Anna Bligh did the water recycling down the Gold Coast, still to produce any water as it rusts, plus recycling sewerage to clean to pump into dams, that hasn't been needed! A footnote on this article
    April 24 2024 Australia News
Japan’s outgoing Ambassador to Australia Shingo Yamagami revealed concerns that Australia could lose its place as a reliable energy provider following Labor government’s gas policies.
It was a warning over Government policies following recent changes to Australia’s safeguard mechanisms with the Greens, gas price caps, changes to the Domestic Gas Security Mechanism, and higher taxes under the Petroleum Resources Rent Tax.
Japan’s imports 70 percent of coal, 60 percent of iron ore, 40 percent of gas come from this beautiful country of Australia,”
Mr Yamagami's speech was an attempt to wake the country up to the dangers and risks of the policies of our current Labor Government by Japan which is heavily reliant on our energy reliability.
This comes as Japanese gas giant Inpex's CEO has warned against Anthony Albanese's energy market policies. Takayuki Ueda said Australia's investment climate appears to be deteriorating and lagging behind the rest of the world.
Labor has attempted to keep this warning from coming to light
Australian voters the warnings about Federal Labor are coming thick and fast, it's up to you at the next election

Car manufacturers know that eventually there will be a large decrease in demand.
Currently most people’s cars are parked for 22 hours a day. During these hours, these cars are depreciating in value.
The shift for some people to work from home has reduced car usage even further. Some people only drive a few hours a week.
Self driving taxis will change the game. Car depreciation costs will be spread across much more driving hours.
Currently a lot of land is used for car parks (including large car parks, home driveways, curb side parking etc… ). Self driving taxis will free up some of this land for other uses.
Currently, during peak hour, lots of cars only have 1 or two people. Self driving taxis will offer cheaper pricing for sharing/pooling. This will reduce congestion.
All of the above will see a reduction in car manufacturing.
Yes, some people will still choose to own cars (just like some people still own horses).
