This is a free tech demo by cgcloud / Blessod who also made the "Scandinavian" tech demo, too. The London Loft took him three weeks to create and is some kind of architectural demo that shows nice features of Unreal Engine 4. You can download the demo for free, a link is provided at the bottom. The demo features additional settings such as V-Sync and 4K resolution.

Honestly 5 years later this is still some of the best I've seen.
My eyes aren't compatible with this kind of graphics
Me too ^^
Unreal engine isn't so unreal anymore
Haha you made a funny
Unreal Engine 4 + Oculus Rift = Brain explosion xD
InFiNiTyX_YT pants explosion.
AmericaTheEngravy sauce jizz in my pants
Could you possibly put G-sync in an oculus rift?
InFiNiTyX_YT Source Engine 2 + SteamVR + HL 3 =sadllaskdöalskdlöaskdöalsdkasjkgjhdfüdaswäreschön
+Truls Årseth Olsen and a giant battery with wheels
when tech demos look better than your house...
**cries**
queenform It looks good on paper but believe me you wouldn't want to live in that house. No privacy, clastrophobic living space, and if it's London, you won't be seeing much of that natural light either.
had to mute, my neighbors probably think I'm watching porn right now
Jazz Gideon dude.. u know the music background?
mohammad hanief what?
Jazz Gideon tittle that music T.T
Damn... help me dude find that porn music XD
Oh yeah Dude, did you even listen to the music?
Jazz Gideon yeah I just listened to it. I agree sound like a 80's porn movie lmao.
I was used to just watching all these insane tech demos and being amazed how far we've come and all, but there's just ever so slight feeling on the back of my head, "Real games never look like tech demos, ever, / it's just fake / it's a one-off demo".
And then you download UE4, since it's free, and download their open demos, and run them, and you cannot believe that holy shit, it IS REAL. Future is here. It not only looks like that, it looks better, because video compression and non-native resolution blurs it a bit.
Errybody grab a copy of UE4, seeing it for yourself is a different deal than watching it here.
Friend of mine has an APT like this in Brooklyn, it's so weird to walk into a place like this IRL, everything is so clean and spotless.
my brain can't handle this, growing up with N64 and what not :0
The dynamic texture changing really counteracts the intended effect because they don't change the color bleed. For example, at 1:10 the floor is changed to a white color yet the wall around the door remains yellow tinted.
Thats because its baked lightmaps, dynamic GI give less accurate realism results
This is why people should start making their games in Unreal. It's clearly the king in the graphics department.
This Demo runs quite well on my system, I am running this demo on Win 8.1 i7 950@ 3.3Ghz, 12GB DDR 1333mhz Ram, HD5850 1GB and on 720p I get avg of 50-60fps and on 1080p I get a avg of 30fps. I must say I am impressed.
Amazing, also a thumbs up for the Rodney Mullen board :)
0:39 OMG the bed is soo real
It's an Arch Viz demo, they're generally always clean except for microvariations in roughness.
I want to have sex with the bed, not in the bed, with it.

I think the reason why this runs so good is because there are a lot of texture baking and it's a small room. Making this into a real time scene would need lots of power.
OH COME ON, that reflection resolution at 1:25
Why did they do this?
gamerpaddy thought the exact same thing..but i heared its pretty hard to get good looking realtime reflection done...but we know they can do it a lot better
i know, from older games (even ps2 ones) they had pretty decent looking mirrors in some levels. way more detailed than this. it doesnt need that much performance, if you do it right.
gamerpaddy they probably forgot that part
gamerpaddy Alot of the reflections in older games used different methods which required trickery.
I don't remember which game it was but one of them that had reflections on the ground actually had the whole level copied and flipped upside down, what you were actually looking at wasn't a reflection but a copy of the room through a translucent floor.
A more advanced way was to render the same thing twice and contain it too a surface. While good for mirrors and flat surfaces the problems with this were more obvious when you tried to add reflections to non smooth surface surface like rippling water or bump mapped surfaces, rough floors etc. I Don't know so much about modern techniques used for reflections or why sometimes it looks amazing and other times it looks weak (like in the video), but now they use more advanced techniques that calculate the reflection on a per pixel basis as opposed to just copying the data. When done properly it looks amazing.
An example of modern screen space reflections that couldn't be achieved through older techniques czcams.com/video/dshGD1XOB7s/video.html
gamerpaddy low light map lol, they forgot it i think
Its so beautiful and real. Id live in a house like this. Sims should really use this engine
NOTICED RENDERING MISSTAKE!
Watch the reflection behind the kitchen sink. It shows the tripod feet. The tripod is behind the edge of the wall and could never be seen in the reflection.
When he/she moves in closer to it, the wall reflection of the right side completely vanishes in thin air and makes the other room behind the wall visible.
And the reflection of the back wall, where the shelves supposed to be... well it isnt there, but there are black vertical lines wich are not visible in the room itself.
hat mich ueberzeugt! wuerde sowas gerne mal ungeleckt sehen. staub, spinnenweben, kaffetassenflecken im holz, zerknuellte taschentuecher neben dem bett und vor allem ein PC... authentisch und glaubhafter ^^
This appartement is so so so fucking awesome! I love the postition of the bed!
So many applications for home design and VR
This looks so increadibly real. Like.......OMG :P
with graphics like this character movement is gonna come into question next. no move box with arm extended out holding a gun.
very nice apartment and very nice music it suits the mood :)
Ich will auch so eine Wohnung ! ;(
Nur vieleicht noch eine veränderung beim Bett, damit man nicht gleich stirbt wenn man schlecht schläft. :D
Sakul Kerasan +Max Shepard Made my day xD
It's better than the "boy and his kite" demo (mostly because the scope of this is smaller), but as people have pointed out certain reflection textures shown here would be considered outdated even 2007...
This looks great, well done!
Shenmue 3 already thought at this level would be epic
Really considering to learn Unreal engine for potential architectural visualisations. With VR becoming more affordable, using Unreal to create an environment to sell ideas/concept designs may be a beneficial skill, if not.. Atleas unreal engine looks like a lot of fun.
Looks amazing!
perfect lines no jags to nice I could see this bein one of them types like Ethan Carter this looks to relaxing
Unreal engine fits well with this video because that is unreal
The music is unreal
Is future in games.
That's so real
This really does look just off real, maybe if you didn't tell me this was from a game engine and didn't suddenly change things I might believe it was real.
The sheets on the bed are nicely done but does it act like sheets (folding?) And this would be a great idea for Ikea to make a programme with this engine so you can design your space with their furniture in it
It is incredible!
That is one little clean apartment! I wish i can live there :/
Wow... Just Wow...
skateboard on top shelf at 0:36
Makes me want to get in the cryofreezer for five years so every game has graphics like this or better.
I'm impressed. The only thing in UE4 that needs to be better are the reflection issues, popping in and out at some points. Aside this, Top Loft. How much? :D
That's insane man...
Cool. Just please fix - the author of Loft In London (CGCloud) didn't make a Paris demo, and is unrelated to it.
Victor Naumik True, I change it. It was the demo called Scandinavian".
Candyland Thanks!
Candyland candy land ... please.. tittle of the music T.T
mohammad hanief CYou can't buy it anywhere, it's stock music by Digital Juice.
Best Game Engine Unreal Engine 4
amazing! i like it
Impressive.
wow man see this graphics
increidble rendering and a well designed apartment, gotta say though that cheesy music.
Looks pretty much like real life.
RockyDoctor65 better than real life
Oh god. That GI though :o
Not gonna lie, games are already starting to look prettier than real life. Reason why is that all the little mistakes in real life aren't present in a game, which is always made to be as perfect as possible. If humans want to look like editted humans via photoshop. Then this is our world when it's been put through a photo shop session in real time.
I've seen this loft on a home renovation show.
I'm guessing inside that box with the bed on top would be the bathroom. I'd be totally ok living in a space like that.
We probably have to wait until unreal engine 6 for this kind of graphics in actual gameplay
I was a bit "shocked", when i watched this, because my kitchen is same as this one, only chairs are a bit diffrent in my kitchen lol.
Ach das ist ingame
Gameawesome >_
Thanks for DL link.
Why the unreal engine 4 games not even get close to such graphical quality as this loft shown?
>Rolls off of the bed
>dies
Holy crap.... How is this even possible?
Lots of work and lots of pre rendered stuff in other softwares (like 3d packages).. Unreal 4 is actually just a player of those stuff.. Nothing special.
Amazing
Wouldn't mind living there, to be honest.
The new ikea 3D catalogue which appears to be the Unreal Engine
Now give the player a baseball bat and let him mess up the whole apartment! I would love that "game"!
fuckin nice that you can change color bro!
Hey Candyland i would like it if you can tell me where you got that music? plz reply
Digital_Gamer It's stock music by digital juice.
Candyland is digital juice a youtube channel and can you plz drop a link for where i can get the music?
It is a production company that produces royalty free assets for video production such as TV. digitaljuice.com
Candyland alright thxs man
theae are great graphics !!!!!!
I could see this bein a bf level and then shoot up stuff the details would be to nice
Hi, is there any tutorial about how to create something like that?
In all seriousness though, that is a nice little apartment isn't it?
ooh, that music makes me want to grow a moustache and git down.
Hi Candyman :) Just amazing work mate is really is. Do you do any teaching lessons i am based in London.
Thanks
I really hate how youtube compresses the videos it's users upload. I want videos that aren't blurry in fullscreen.
RadioC99 Well a huge part of youtube videos is watched via mobile that's why compression is so strong. It's not perfect for graphics I must admit, but it does the job.
Yeah, guess I didn't think about that haha, oh well it's still watchable.
RadioC99 I hope they increase it to 15 Mbit in the future, at the moment 1080p is 8 Mbit, 1440p is 10 Mbit... that's not much.
do you have a tutorial about the workflow?
really amazing work i hope to connect with you
I think that the only thing that doesn' look like reality is the global lights. And i think that the lens flare can be better.
El Link There are no lens flares irl.
yes they are ._.
El Link "Lens flare is the light scattered in lens systems through generally unwanted image formation mechanisms, such as internal reflection and scattering from material inhomogeneities in the lens."
Hey, can i ask how do you get such clean looking white walls? I've just started with Unreal, but my light maps don't seem too clean. Great video.
1:32 in the reflection on the right it looks like a ghost jumps out the window.
Mis respetos, esto es hermoso *_*
Can someone explain how Unreal can give such amazing results, to the point that you can walk around and change materials and while still looking great, and with 3ds max or Cinema 4d you need hours to render out a single frame?
Pre rendered colours? I don't really know
Because that's rendering. This is all pre-rendered and it's only loaded onto the components that are running it. Rndering isn't the handling of rendered images. It's rendering. And rendering is is still extremely taxing. That's why 1 frame of a pixar animation takes 10=30 hours to render a single frame.
In addition, most rendering is pre-calculated. Global Illumination (effectively realistic shadows in lay-man's terms), Reflections, anti-aliasing, shaders, etc... are all calculated based on how they 'would' work with physics. i.e: Light bounces several times (where in Unreal, most lighting in this demo is static, i.e: calculated by the developer and the shadows are not changed in real time) casting particular colors it interacts with into the shadows, and reflections bounce reflecting part of the world back (Where in Unreal, it uses Screen Space Reflections, reflecting part of an image inversely that is already been rendered on screen). Unreal is far from there in terms of being as realistic as an offline renderer - but it's looking damn close, maybe another few years? :)
TheSpyChecker it doesn't take 30 hours to render 1 frame
Yeah, it takes anywhere between 5 to 120, depending on the complexity of the scenario.
Takes 5 fucking seconds to google and verify everything i've said
gizmodo.com/5813587/12500-cpu-cores-were-required-to-render-cars-2
But you couldn't even do that, you just had to bark your own bullshit.
The thing that's very disturbing is that I can tell it isn't real but I don't know why.
Same, maybe it's that slight imperfection, missing details. I feel it is synthetic, not natural. Still best demo out here.
What device do you use to preview or interact with the demo ?
PC ? Tablet ?
Candyland,
do you know whether it is possible to switch between geometries just like it possible to switch between materials on objects like the sofa- could you fx have varying ceiling heights that the 'player' could switch between?
So realistic
Please make a tutorial on this video. Or tell me how do you place choices for selecting color of an item?
How do I record to a movie format? Unreal is capturing only Player movement as Movie
Hi Candyland, how long you rendered this work with your hardware? Tks!
If only the Sims could be like this.
or gta...
@Candyland nice video, nice project, nice song, title of this song? thanks
Is that thing in anyway someday coming to a game?
As soon as the GPUs are ready for it... The time will come
nice
FUCKKKKKKKKK!!! this is wicked AMAZING!! .... cheers
That uncased stairway is giving me some serious anxiety
Really want to learn
Nett..aber diese Technik hat auch Nachteile...man könnte nie mit der Umgebung interagieren..also man kann nichts aus einem Regal oder vom Tisch nehmen..oder ins Bett legen..so schön wie es auch aussieht..
10/10 would fall out of that bed and snap my spine.
We need that in GTA VI!
My specs:
Intel 8086 @ 10mhz
1MB RAM
Hercules graphics card (64KB VRAM)
built-in speakers
floppy drive
Can I run this?
ViruX No, your PC is way too weak.
+ViruX of course you can prpobley get like 200 fbs average
+Yousef Aiman Glad to hear
+ViruX Only if you delete system32
Theo4871 Okay if this will improve my fps, I will check that out. Thanks buddy :)
