  • Netorare, 'NTR', is a genre where one person in a relationship gets cucked through adultery. This is very common to see in the Japanese porn and some people worry that makes Japan's cheating culture even worse. But to be fair, we should get to know what Japan's most famous MILF actress who has appeared in those NTR films has to say about it.

Nobita, you interviewed Japanese cheaters before. Could you also interview people who were cheated on? I'd like to hear their story and how they dealt with their partners when they found out.
In my country there have been cases where people killed their partner because of cheating. Aren't crimes like these happening in Japan?

I've lived in Japan for 17 years and got divorced after a 12 year marriage when I found out my (now ex) wife was cheating. You (I hope) have no idea the damage that cheating does. It's borderline "life ending" for not just yourself, but the person who cheated on you as well. It destroyed my life 5 years ago, but I'm still in Japan and am remarried, but still "damaged" forever from the experience.

We also know from this interview that she has made at least 2,700 videos. Meaning that she would had to make a NTR video every 3.3819 days, or every 81.17 hours to achieve 2,700 videos in 25 years. I do not think that any kind of fictional media "causes" any real life behaviour. It's like in the early 2000's debate about whether violent video games cause violence. No they don't, and I do not think that NTR porn or hentai "causes" cheating. What I rather think is, that the existance of NTR porn proves that the desire for cheating was already existant and they seek a way to express or experience that fantasy. Just like with other forms of porn. I do no tthink that anyone who doesn't already like cheating, or the thought of cheating would watch an NTR in the first place, but even if that person did he wouldn't just suddenly think "okay now I want to cheat."

It does normalize the thing. Like incest is unspeakably horrible thing, but porn has brought the concept more into the mainstream. So it makes incest a topic of casual conversation. I don't know whether incest porn has caused a rise in incest, but more tame forms of porn do carry over from fiction into reality. BDSM is the perfect example. Choking has become way more common now. So in conclusion, I do understand your perspective, but porn does normalize things that should rightfully be perceived as disgusting.

Being in a committed relationship while being active in the "industry" and not seeing it as "cheating" is the biggest oxymoron and act of hypocrisy I've ever heard and seen. It's a consequence of a culture that makes such a personal act so impersonal simply due to a change in setting and circumstance. It's taking the concept of the separation of work and private life to the extreme. I simply cannot fathom how one could go to town on the genitalias of complete strangers in a studio and come home to their significant others and proclaim their undying loyalty and love for the other.

NTR causing cheating is like saying thriller movies in which people get killed are causing more murder. I mean you can believe this if you want but if you do so I think there are some major flaws in this logic. Its just again searching for scapegoats while real reasons or hints for the acceptance of cheating or stay under-covered people with this opinions do more harm than any good. I would recommend looking in japans history with the cheating topic before making any unreasonable assumptions like porn or hentai anime causing this... that actually the say it in the least harmful way a very simple minded way of thinking.
I think this video needs an update to be more including for this topic, I request starting research also in history especially in Edo-Period I found many hints why this "culture" of cheating is so predominantly reappearing topic.
For me its more like, the western perspective on the topic cheating put more emphasis on cheating, while it has been "always" there but in slightly different variance caused by unknown factors. "normalization" is also a weird term that needs more elaboration to make it more scientific. Sure there might be data showing a rise in cheating (but that can be caused by many things) so with not having on evidence of correlation/causation and the relationship between these terms.

Things that are accepted are no longer that exciting so they are not that popular in porn often. There has to be a bit of a taboo on it. Cheating in RL is a taboo yet people do it for that reason and if you can get away with it easily maybe it's even more popular. But it will most certainly not make your homelife happier even if it doesn't lead to divorce. @@ortros1 People with a good relationship still cheat too. Just more exciting and easy to them. And if wives are expected to tolerate it what's to stop the husbands doing it? In China it's illegal and still it's a wide spread practice to get a mistress and pay them.
My religion teacher in school said part of getting married is to avoid the other people you feel any attraction to. I think a lot of people never got that advise. They instead hang out more with those other people and think the grass is greener on that side. So they cheat or break up their relationship to try out the new person.

I'm sure there's much more casual attitude towards cheating in NYC than the midwest. I think in the big city you have way more opportunities to cheat. Those were carefully picked words. I wonder what she'd say if she was completely open.
Cheating is entirely natural, people are tempted and selfish, and there are circumstances where people are driven to it due to their relationship diving or having other issues. A person's self worth being damaged by their partner is a common cause of going out of their way to feel appreciated.
NTR though... I mean there's a Western interracial equivalent which is fetishistic and sort of treats the dominant parter of that scene like an animal. Despite the "superiority" of one race, it's clear that it's not out of respect, but pure lust driven fascination of physical appearance and large manhoods.
I can't speak much to this mindset, but before NTR it used to be swinging, swapping partners, going to sex clubs and the like, that used to be popular. A sort of pre-emptive strike to cheating, where you'd have not an open relationship, but have "adventures" and deepen the appreciation of your relationship. It's obviously not for everyone. NTR to me seems more about a lack of confidence and becoming subservient to a narcissist.

A lot of the times I find that those who cheat tend to do it out of loneliness. Especially in societies where people are working long hours. Dating someone who works a lot means you'll most likely be spending more time alone than with your partner. Doubly so when the partner is a high earner/rich (that money doesn't just fall from the sky, it comes from somewhere). So rather than speaking with their partner about this, they instead resort to cheating because they want to fill that empty void. Of course this isn't the only reason people cheat (lack of sexual satisfaction, falling for someone else, revenge, never really loved their partner and was only using them for resources, etc.), but I do think it's the most common reason in places like Japan where so many people are working over time regularly. And when they are home, they're tired and just want to relax and rest.
