I think when we go anywhere on vacation we go for the monuments, food, the nightlife, the sea or the mountains, or the neighbouring villages. I did that when I went to Napoli, Malaga, anywhere. When we travel, we explore. But, I must say, Palermo is on my list of places to visit next time I visit Italy.

Supposedly I'll go to Malta then to Sicily in 2020 but pandemic struck. Though I've been on a tour from my country (Philippines) & been to Rome, Venice, Assisi, Naples, and Pompei pre-pandemic. I'd like to see historical places and monuments since done visiting our many beaches with clear and turquoise emerald waters and white sands as fine as talcum powder here in my country.

I'm planning a last minute holiday. Italy and Portugal were my options. For Italy it was Milan ( cheapest flight) and then to Lake Como, HOWEVER i've just stumbled upon this video and now i'm thinking sicily. When i was younger i wanted to move to sicily after watching Mafia movies haha BUT i honestly am now considering Sicily. I wonder what the weather will be like at the end of March. Thank you for this video, i've subscribed.

….. how come zen neighborhood was not mentioned

    • @WeArePalermo
      @WeArePalermo  Před rokem

Zen has gained a reputation for being a tough and risky neighborhood, particularly if you're not familiar with it. From a tourist's perspective, it's not typically seen as a must-see destination due to safety concerns. Moreover, there isn't much in terms of noteworthy attractions or interesting sights within the neighborhood. It mostly consists of rough and decaying buildings.

    JOINING THE WAITLIST
Sorry, you are unable to receive a guide at this time.
This sale was opened for a couple of days only to those who joined the waitlist, until that capacity reached 100 people.
I don't understand. Why can't you sell more than 100 guides? Are you afraid of making money?

I just googled and I see that ice cream was invented in China. The earliest known gelato was invented in Florence. Hmmm! There is a different, a big difference, between ice cream and gelato.

Palermo and sicily has seen his best times long ago. Nowadays its suffering from overtourism, poverty , corruption, down and out cities, dirty beaches , land etc. No progress at all !
The only worth things to see are the historical parts of the city and to enjoy the local nightlife.
For good Italian food u dont need to travel that far south.

Why don't I see anyone talking about the tons of garbage on each and every street in Palermo. It is literally the dirtiest place I have ever seen in my life. Sorry but I'm really disappointed

      Ciao Santiago!
You know, it's rather intriguing. Palermo boasts:
      - One of the most expansive cultural heritages in Europe, including numerous UNESCO World Heritage sites.
      - A storied history of conquests, with influences from myriad cultures, such as the Spaniards, Arabs, Normans, and Aragonese, to name just a few. Each has left its indelible mark on the city's fabric.
      - A culinary scene that's not only diverse but globally recognized. Ever heard of the cannoli or gelato? Yep, that's us.
      - Proximity to some of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy", including places like Cefalù.
      - Some of Europe's most crystal-clear waters and stunning natural wonders.
Honestly, I could go on and on.
And yet, amidst all this splendor, what caught your eye was the litter on the streets? Sure, some streets could use a cleanup, and trust me, as a local, I share that sentiment.
But as a visitor, instead of getting sidetracked by what's on the ground, maybe focus on the marvels that surround you?
There's a millennia-old monument around nearly every corner in Palermo. If all you can see is the trash, then perhaps the issue lies not with the city but with where you're choosing to direct your attention.
      A presto
