  • in this video I start the build out for my metal shop. I make some super simple metal work tables where I laminate sheet metal to some plywood and build simple one inch square tubing bases.

    The magnets are a brilliant idea

    Really like the metal top idea. As long as it stays clean, I can see using it for a woodworking shop too and utilizing same magnet stop idea.

      Yea it could work, I wouldn’t want hardwoods rubbing on metal. But could definitely work

    I like these easy to make work tables John! They seem easy to move when the time comes to rearrange the shop. Which we all seem to do sooner or later. Great Job on the video!

      Yep. Contact cement is one of the better adhesives for bonding dissimilar materials and especially for dealing with adhearing sheet materials face to face.

    It has to be so nice to be able to separate your shops. I struggle with my 24’x48’ shop and just need to put a couple walls up and separate the wood from the metal. So tired of having to cover all the wood when I’m grinding etc. Another great vid!

    • @John_Malecki
      @John_Malecki  Před 5 lety

    Its me again John!! Wonderful video great idea. Its just for the chop saw or your going to add more weight to it? It doesn't have enough support for myself but thats me also WHEN ARE YOU GETTING A MILL? I love to see what you can do with one.

    • @John_Malecki
      @John_Malecki  Před 5 lety

      So I weigh a lot’ and I was standing on the tables running electrical and with close to 300lbs on the edge that’s plenty for what it’ll be used for. You could use a higher gauge steel for more weight if you want. And a mill is a whole other world I dunno if I’m ready for!

  • @zacscreations7311
    @zacscreations7311 Před 5 lety +1

    Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺, Great build mate, quick question tho, if you have a vertical metal cutting bandsaw why the chopsaw station, I realise you have a reason I just racking my head over it, anyway love the channel keep the videos coming

    • @John_Malecki
      @John_Malecki  Před 5 lety

      It’s much much faster than he bandsaw. Basically the only reason and has a small footprint. The bandsaw is huge and slow but a more accurate cut

  • @bg73
    @bg73 Před 5 lety +3

    You made the same mistake as April Wilkerson. When you have to make angled cuts the chop saw doesn't rotate but instead the metal does so it will hit your wall. Unless of course you're planning on cutting angles a different way 😀

    • @John_Malecki
      @John_Malecki  Před 5 lety +7

      Got the bandsaw for angles ! Haha

    • @drewt3210
      @drewt3210 Před 5 lety

      Leave the chop saw free/not bolted to it's work top. Simply rotate the saw to desired angle while keeping metal straight. Until they start making metal chop saws to rotate like wood chop saws, this is an easy work around. Best, @HoneyOnWales
