    Cool video, and nice work from Troy. If you want to see some amazing IR landscape, I highly recommend JTolan Media 1 content with his imagery in IR.

    Girls on film / Duran Duran .... My name is John Taylor (no, not the Duran Duran band member) and was working as a photographers assistant doing a studio brochure when Girls on film was being edited.

    Now i know what I missed- i should buy the same “that black hat” to become a true photographer in socal:)) just kidding.
    Question- we all hear about “ Leica look”, “ Canon look” etc, all sensors ( at least in 2024) are produced by Sony but adjusted differently for the needs of different brands, microlenses etc, dedicated black and white Leica sensors.. so, with all this being said- what or which camera/brand might be the best option for infra red modification?
    Thank you.

    • @BehindTheShot
      @BehindTheShot  Před 2 měsíci +1

      That’s a great question, Anatol. As you say, many sensors are from Sony, but Canon, for example, designs their own, as do others I believe. While in some cases sensors may come from the same manufacturer, they aren’t the same sensors. So at least for color, the engineers implement their own raw conversion, and color theory.
      How does that translate to infrared, I have no clue. I assume there could be slight differences in the conversation, but I’m guessing is much less noticeable, if at all. If we look at it like color vs grayscale, grayscale is 250 vs 256 X RGB. So there’s simply less data.
      To be clear, I’m just thinking out loud and have no idea if I’m right - I’m guessing because I don’t know the answer. My thought is this sounds logical, which of course means I’m probably wrong, hahaha.

      @@BehindTheShot i v got a good deal on Hasselblad X1D mark 2.. slow but steady, you know, should be good for landscape photography anyway.. so i am thinking to convert it to ir or full spectrum- not sure yet, im not this much in astro.. probably just for B&W so how do you think, Hassy’s lenses- are they good for IR?

    • @BehindTheShot
      @BehindTheShot  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @Anatol19066 Unfortunately, I’m not much help today. I don’t shoot IR myself, my guest Troy does, and I’ve never shot a Hassy. Sorry. You might try reaching out to Troy on IG to see if he has any thoughts.

    Troy, I'm seeing some banding in the sky? Is that youtube? and is it normal?..........ps- totally ignorant when it comes to IR....

    • @Spicyjello
      @Spicyjello Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Terry, The banding is definitely a result of the video compression. Like any image tho, banding can easily crop up if the image is pushed to far during post processing.

  • @victorcarmelo8606
    @victorcarmelo8606 Před 2 lety

    If you want to reconvert an IR camera, why not buy a filter which will give you full colour and suppress IR?, Much cheaper and gives the best of both worlds!!!

    • @BehindTheShot
      @BehindTheShot  Před 2 lety +1

      There are a few valid reasons. You solution assumes that you’re keeping the camera, but if you’re selling, because you’ve bought a new one or switched brands, you might want to sell a non-IR body. It’s also possible you are keeping it but decided you want it back to normal simply because you converted a better body. You might even be handing it down to child to learn photography.

    • @victorcarmelo8606
      @victorcarmelo8606 Před 2 lety +1

      @@BehindTheShot Valid points, but shouldn’t be a problem selling a converted camera but i was just suggesting, if the camera was being kept, a cheaper solution.

    • @BehindTheShot
      @BehindTheShot  Před 2 lety

      I’m not saying I disagree. Great point actually. I’m just thinking the potential pool of buyers would be much wider for a camera that’s not IR.
