Episode 1 jack: "I found a no bucket door, I need a bucket" Episode 2 jack: "Yes! I have a bucket, the bucket makes me feel whole" Episode 3 jack: "I no longer have any interest of the no bucket door"
ADHD moment at its finest. The first time he sees it and he's fixated on it for the rest of the video. The second time he passes it, he doesn't even notice.
I love how in THE FIRST EPISODE Sean came across these doors and said ”I NEED TO FIND A BUCKET AND COME BACK HERE!” then he finds the bucket and never returns with it. man.
I remember the suicide staircase from the old game being so emotional for me, the narrator is such a great actor, and even if i was a completionist I wouldn't be able to bring myself to do that.
For me, one of the most well done bits of the game, is the timing. There are several instances where it wants you to wait, and just as jack is starting to comment on how long its taking, the narrator kicks in a second later. I was watching someone else also play, and the timing was perfect on him as well. Very well done to get that so right on cue.
I really hope that Jack changes his mind and comes back to this. He missed a lot of endings relating to the bucket. Basically everywhere you go has a new ending with the bucket
He ended the series here because the game deserves as much attention as it can get, and deserves everyone to buy it and support the developers. As someone who can’t afford/download the game right now, it makes me really want to get the equipment to play the game for myself and support the developers. Sean understands that going through the entire game and getting every ending (due to his large subscriber base) will take away from the appreciation and contributions to the developers since if he went out and got every ending there would be no reason for his viewers to purchase the game for themselves.
I love the 'figurine ending'. The Narrator did say he loves gags and it was like watching a sort of interactive gag with the memory thing where humour is done with Stanley's actions. With the counter going up past 6/6 gives another meaning to 'recollect your memory'.
Feels like that's the underlying theme of the whole game Wait, why is it doing that? No idea? Can we take credit for it happening? Yeah, let's go with that and see where it goes. 😂
I'd laugh my ass off if they released the next Stanley Parable and called it "Stanley Parable 4" because they already made 2 and 3 in the first game's re-release.
The next time you load up the game, it asks you to make the subtitle for The Stanley Parable 4. Then, the next time, it’s TSP 5, then 6, etc. I have no idea how high the number goes.
I absolutely ADORED the "Nuclear" ending. Because it didn't just give you something to think about and be clever and witty. The VA's delivery of the Narrator going dark in that ending, his dialog, and his speech pattern... Everything was so good it made me -feel- a sense of impending dread, and urgency just from watching YOU play it out! As if the Narrator was an archvillain bent on keeping us under his thumb because he was too afraid of what would happen if he didn't, and my life was forfeit if you didn't stop the timer. And that, is diamond class levels of amazing. A job, well done. Hat's off devs and VA.
I agree, the Nuclear ending is amazing. The voice acing in this game is probably the best I've ever seen. I mean, compare the tone of the Narrator in this ending to the tone of the Narrator in the space ending. I'll be honest, I almost couldn't finish that ending when I played because the Narrator sounded so completely devasted as you threw yourself from the platform again and again and again and I felt horrible for doing it. The narration in every ending somehow manages to sound completely different from each other, yet they all still have the distinct tone of the narrator: his mannerisms, his sarcasm, everything. Whoever does the voice acting for the Narrator is incredibly talented.
@@jazminejordan5714 I agree! The space ending had a similar tug to it, making you feel, something. Viscerally. And it's so so good! but yes the Va is chef's kiss.
9:28 I disagree though, the whole point of that section wasn't that "open world game bad", it was that the Narrator's a control freak who didn't want you to have the choices an open world game offered. 16:24 Lmfao I love how Jack actually falls for the completionist pull. 56:07 That's... actually a decent message.
Feels like Jack forgot that a lot of this game was made almost a decade ago, when it was really popular to just crap on shooters just because. A joke about shooters back then would've been easily misunderstood. Firewatch was originally Minecraft and the joke wasn't that open world games are bad, it's that the narrator specifically can't handle open world games because he doesn't like the player going on non-linear paths. Rocket League was also originally Portal. Making a joke during Minecraft and Portal comes across much more clearly.
Mh, I was thinking to myself during SeanJack’s thoughts on that piece was that “The point of those jokes was meant to be the Narrator missing the point of those games; it was poking fun at itself.”
i am legitimately heartbroken at The Narrator begging to go back to the door, hoping to be happy, realising you enjoy seeing them suffer... poor thing.... such good voice acting... my heart
Same. It’s nice to see someone putting it into concise words Maybe I’m also just projecting too, seeing as I was in a very similar place on a daily basis in the past. But it’s always nice to see how good acting and writing can emulate and cathartically express the possibly lived experience of those that are with us
I love how for a game where there are no npcs, there sure are some good characters. You have the main narrator, but you also have a higher, female narrator, perhaps god with an affinity for buckets? Then there’s the sliders narrator, who seems to know some things about the game that the main narrator doesn’t. Tl;dr, Matpat needs to make a video on the lore of the Stanley parable ultra deluxe 3: now with added human condition
Yo honestly, the ending with the Narrator begging you to go back to that starry, beautiful room always makes me really emotional and has me sobbing every time I play/watch someone play through it. Like, damn, he is a Phenomenal voice actor to make me feel that way. Video games never get to me like that but that one ending just rips something from me. Also goddamnit Jack, go through the No Bucket door with the bucket!!
There are the devs who are like "ew, a bug, remove" Then there are the cool devs who "ooh, bug... lets make it part of the game" Like how the stanley paraple did it here, and how celeste used movement bugs to create chapter 9.
There are 28 collectables, but you locked out the last two, reset the game instead of going to the exit when in the memory zone and chose the other room (in your case the bathroom)
Fun fact: the order you pick up the stanlerens in changes the video the narrator "makes" for you in the figurine ending. This game is really detailed and has so many paths
Jack first episode at the no bucket door: "Give me bucket, where is bucket, I'm going to find a bucket". Jack in the second episode after having the bucket and had had a life with it: Completely forgot about the door's existence Jack in the third episode: Walks through the no bucket door like it was a regular door
Thats what made this comment I made come to life My comment: What about the thing where the passage says no buckets past here...? One thing not figured out... What happens??? Does something happen...??? NO NO NO...... that knowledge is to never be known... Or is it? Well who knows? I surely don't.. I wonder who does... manic searching ensues I have to figure it out!!! maniacally chants bucket
I feel like it's important to keep in mind that, while Firewatch is poked fun at, it is explicitly the Narrator critisizing it. The man who is shown to be blatantly wrong again and again. The game very much plays his fear of open-world game design for laughs, as the Narrator wouldn't be able to handle how many choices you would have in an open-world game.
So I don't quite know the lore behind it, but I do know that the fanbase calls the female Narrator 'The Curator' And there's also theories about how the mystery Narrator at the beginning of the game is Employee 432 (there's apparently a bunch of lore behind Employee 432 that I don't know all of lol)
When every path you can walk has been created for you long in advance, death becomes meaningless, making life the same. Meanwhile in the blue door "Oh god, it's an open world game! Quick, block it off!"
To add to the quarter life crisis, Jack is 32 years old, meaning millennials are now in there 30's and to be honest it still hasn't sunk into me at least...
It’s killing me that Sean wanted a bucket in the first episode only because of the “no buckets beyond this door” sign and he literally walked through said door and completely ignored the sign
When you jump off the cargo lift, there's a sign along that path that says "no buckets." It's what inspired you to want a bucket in the first place. You must bring the bucket there.
1:16 - "Of all the people I know that are playing this exact version of The Stanley Parable, at this exact moment, answering this exact question, your performance is _easily_ in the Top 5,000. Top 4,700 even. ...I won't go as high as 4,600." 36:45 - You should show the Bucket your discovery here. I'm sure it'll find it quite interesting. 40:30 - Before you walk down the corridor to the Mind Control Facility, maybe check that elevator again... 53:50 - Note: 1 of these glowing buttons isn't like the others. Search nearby and click each of them... 59:55 - I bet the Bucket would have enjoyed returning to the Expo Hall with you... Something else to try: Go up to the Boss's office, walk _slightly_ into it, then _quickly_ back out before the doors close. If done correctly you should be able to go back, keep doing so looking for an open door. Do this alone, then again with the Bucket. After that return to the Epilogue and when you reach the Memory Zone building look to the right before going inside...
Remember, even weird endings like the "Bottom of the Mind Control Facility" ending and the nuclear ending are all tweaked a bit by having the bucket. I REALLY recommend doing all of them with the bucket. EDIT: Also, I'm so sad that you missed some of the "Jim" buttons. One of them is a bit different, and brought a smile to my face.
Scrumtush is so much better!! It actually looks like a real word, it's the union of Scrum and Tush, which both sound like real words. It's such a well constructed word, unlike the other one which I bet you cant even spell without checking
Jack out here analyzing the shooter dilemma, but if he looked into it just a little bit more he'd realize that they are making fun of how majority of mainstream shooter players can be toxic....
7:15 actually, "death" doesn't technically start until your mid 20s as that's when the rate at which your cells die starts outpacing the rate at which your body makes new cells
@@animant8811 They know that lol, they're just pointing out that at a technical level, once you stop growing and reach a certain point, you're on an inevitable march to death. That is to say that aging begins to harm you, rather than help you.
Fun fact. When jack spoke about dying over decades, it came to my mind that he is in fact right. At a certain age, I can't recall the exact age, but the cells in your body dying will be greater than the cells made by your body, causing you to technically die very slowly
Or you can just say that if you give the player control over someone they are bound to die.. thats why there are auto saves and normal saving and load options
I love that Jack’s been going on about making fun of shooter games but the ‘we’ll just put on a different title screen with no new added content’ is such a sneaky dig at big game series like CoD, Halo, etc. that it feels like the perfect way to go about it.
I’d say COD much moreso than Halo. Halo’s been known for putting on a different title screen and then adding in so much new stuff in each new title that it divides the series’ fanbase - there’s a reason why there’s Reach fans, Halo 4/5 fans, and OG CE/2/3 trilogy fans as almost like three separate factions of the fanbase, all of which falling into the strange new fourth faction of Halo Infinite fans.
14:40 It takes a real Chad to be able to sit down and watch all of the Sharknado movies and actually enjoy doing so. Masterpieces if I do say so myself!! 👌
When looking through the infinite tv's in the collectible ending, if you look at the sign that says "you are in the present" at the right angle you can see the sign on the tv will say "you are in the past" which was super cool
I love how the end of the epilogue the slider guy kind of references the beginners guide. Because he mentions how the narrator got so involved when people criticized his work, and that’s kind of how Coda felt when Davey released all of his work. Idk if that’s an actual reference, it’s just cool to think about.
I'm almost certain The Narrator also references the beginners guide with his dialouge at some point. In the skip button ending i think but i don't remember anymore. I just know he says a sentance that is nearly identical to what the narrator in the beginners guide says.
I was so upset he wasn't able to hear the button that said "Stanley" among all the Jim buttons in the Epilogue😭 For some reason that one little touch to the game made me really sad, I really wanted to see his reaction to it
jack: "i want a bucket!" jack: gets a bucket jack: completely forgets why he originally wanted the bucket me too tbh i'm also adhd but GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, AND WE WANT BUCKET ENDING
33:09 way to tug at the heart strings😂 concrete laying isn’t as nice as waking up for 6th grade worrying about “does she like me, what homework did I have, can I beat this level”, ik you’ll never see this but i really appreciate the way this made me feel and the emotions it brought me
7:06 I like to imagine Seán’s walking along and a man bleeding to death says, “I’m dying.” Looking for assistance, only for Seán to reply, “Yea, we all are.”
The Narrator: "Hey, Stanley! Didn't you want to try to take the special bucket past the No Buckets Past this Point sign in your video? Everyone is waiting, just hoping to see you take the bucket there so I can scold you, Stanley. Are you really just going to leave it there? No more endings for you? The end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end...even for the bucket. Oh, and Stanley, be sure you do NOT fall off the cargo lift where you could run out the door by the truck. It won't work, Stanley. Farewell, Stanley. I WILL see you again...I'm sure of it...please, come back. You can be Jim again. I know how much you enjoyed being Jim. I saw it in your video...right?"
50:53 as soon as that scene started there was a gust of wind, I'm watching this on my porch and the fact that there was this sudden rush of wind just when the scene first appeared was so trippy
The "Warzone" bit is such a gem; I think it may have been taken a little too seriously because it is so plain and on the nose. Like, they included a bit about how they were going to include a shooter bit, but then it got bad reception so they never released it, but they *told us* about it... kind of like shooters saying they're going to have all this impressive content but then they don't and they still include it in every "making of" like "Hey here's that way cool thing we were going to do" so we can all groan about the lies all over again. And everything has to have some shooting aspect so here's our homage to shooters, a bit about how we didn't include anything to do with shooters because fans of shooters can't take a little humor directed at them. As a shooter fan, I love it. Beautiful.
The thing with Firewatch and the cut warzone mentioned in the museum, is that it’s pretty clear the Narrator is until one with a disdain for open world games. He’s a character with his own biases, and given his role in the game he would absolutely hate open worlds. The warzone probably didn’t pan out in the same way, which is why it was cut
Yeah, the disobedient ending is more making fun of the narrator's pettiness rather than making fun of the games. From the description, it doesn't seem like the war one ending would be like that, and even if it was, would the devs have wanted two fairly similar (at least in theme) endings?
"It is sientifically impossible for you to forget your third time doing anything." I don't remember the third time I had a piss because I was a baby back then and wasn't able to form memories yet...
I feel cheated that he never went through the “no buckets through this door” with a bucket!
Although it wasn’t the main reason I clicked on this video it was up there. WHY HASNT HE GONE THROUGH THAT DOOR YET!!
Seriously I was so disappointed

I remember the suicide staircase from the old game being so emotional for me, the narrator is such a great actor, and even if i was a completionist I wouldn't be able to bring myself to do that.
For me, one of the most well done bits of the game, is the timing. There are several instances where it wants you to wait, and just as jack is starting to comment on how long its taking, the narrator kicks in a second later. I was watching someone else also play, and the timing was perfect on him as well. Very well done to get that so right on cue.
Time can heal this wound. How dare.

@@chinalebeau8021 He would probably play the rest on its own off cam

I love the 'figurine ending'. The Narrator did say he loves gags and it was like watching a sort of interactive gag with the memory thing where humour is done with Stanley's actions. With the counter going up past 6/6 gives another meaning to 'recollect your memory'.
He missed the “Stanley” button among the “Jim” buttons in the epilogue :( I feel he would have appreciated that more than anyone 💚
The narrator is clearly a programmer, having an existential crisis about why something works when it shouldn't 😂

Making a joke during Minecraft and Portal comes across much more clearly.
agree with you. It is not the game that hates the open world game, it is the Narrator who dose hahahhah maybe he's agoraphobe
Mh, I was thinking to myself during SeanJack’s thoughts on that piece was that “The point of those jokes was meant to be the Narrator missing the point of those games; it was poking fun at itself.”
That’s hilarious.
It was most likely changed due to copywrite
I saw gtlive play it first

I will forever cherish The Stanley Parable. This game is so brilliantly well-written. The Stanley Parable is perfect.
I love how for a game where there are no npcs, there sure are some good characters. You have the main narrator, but you also have a higher, female narrator, perhaps god with an affinity for buckets? Then there’s the sliders narrator, who seems to know some things about the game that the main narrator doesn’t.

Actually, i love the narrator, the female narrator and the mystery narrator. They are cool characters and i already headcanoned them to death XD
So I don't quite know the lore behind it, but I do know that the fanbase calls the female Narrator 'The Curator'
