This is like Sam Pilgrim taking a Walmart bike down the Whistler trails. Shows how much the driver matters. 😊
Cool channel. Thanks for turning me onto it
Sam is the best
Sam pilgrim is the business he is awesome much like our Rudy and co
fr tho
Today is going to be EPIC!
That head liner is killn me. Cut that thang out.
Agreed. I would've torn that thing out before hitting the ignition.
Can’t put a dollar amount on laughs lol
What I learned over the years from the videos is; trust Rudy's offroad predictions. You really know your stuff.
You are definitely coming in to your own, Rudy. And Janelle is a great camera person. Best wishes for continued success.
Agree !
Gosh I really like janelle. She’s so fun! Rudy picked a good one.
Or, maybe a really good one picked Rudy! Janelle is very attractive with a gorgeous smile and great fun attitude.

Rudy my boy in case ya haven’t figured it out ( i’m sure u have ) Janelle is a keeper !! loves to spend time with her guy doing outdoor stuff and easy on the eyes 👀 you sir are winning 🥇
those hips my goodness
@D B Perv
Y’all are some creepy old men she’s super young
@@turkey4957 how do you know how old I am and you're assuming my gender? I am destroyed!
Oh Rudy...you totally understand the spirit of just being out there and having fun no matter what vehicle you have!
Thanks for taking us along, Rudy. I like seeing Kaulin and JaNelle in the mix, too. They add a lot of personality to the videos. 👍
Just cut the headliner out.
It's nice to have a regular truck for everyday use, fix it and use it as-is. Everything doesn't have to be a rock crawler.
Watching you scramble this thing up the trail was way more entertaining than a lot of the more technical stuff with the more capable rigs. Sometimes it's all about the struggle & overcoming obstacles that gets that lil endorphin hit going
Yeah, it makes me laugh, people in twin locked, big shit grippers, mega flex suspension rigs whinging that trails aren't challenging.
Try doing it in a less capable rig if you want a challenge.
As I say, if you ain't got the kit, then you better have the driving skillset.👍🏻
Then you get to do backflips into a waterfall. Life is short yet it's the longest thing that you will ever do. Enjoy every sandwich and moment.
I agree. Anybody can spend 40k on a off-road monster of a jeep. But it takes a real skilled driver to take their $600 2wd Commanche up a trail rated for 4wd vehicles.
Time to take that saggy ceiling down! Car manufactures should start making small pick-ups like that one again.
IT’S TIME FOR FOUR WHEEL DRIVE!!! Can’t wait to see what you build!!👀👀
Finally being able to see the Falls was worth it! Great job Rudi!
A locker and good tires can go a surprisingly far way on a 2wd, particularly with some weight moved to the back. Years ago, there was a Comanchee Eliminator 2wd in our trail group with a 2" lift, rear locker, mud T/A's on the back, and All Terrains on the front. Skid plates and velocity got it through most trails and only heavy mud really was an absolute no-go. At first, I thought this might turn into a slammed, super-stretch 3/4 scale Jeep version of Rudy's dream truck, but now I'm thinking he's going to take this in another direction. Whatever he does, I think it will be a very cool build to watch!
Was about to mention the same thing. A manual locker or a Detroit can make a 2WD truck a formidable machine off-road, so long as you've got hard packed dirt or rock for your tires to hold on to.
I have seen numerous recoveries on this road, but never the actual falls.
LOVE THAT YOU GUYS ALL HAVE "FARMER'S TANS" - NO TANNING BED OBSESSIONS UP THERE IN UTAH!!!
I think the Comanche would be a nice build. Make it 4 wheel drive, a roll cage, winch(s), lifted bigger tires, new interior, and maybe make it into a tow truck since it is a truck, the bed is just asking for something.
A simple gin poke setup in the bed would be good for getting all the SxS with broken front ends out without a trailer
Yeah, as long as you're within the physics and geometry capability of the vehicle, 90% of wheeling is the driver. Unskilled drivers can get the most capable vehicle stuck (or worse), but a skilled driver can get a fairly basic vehicle to some amazing places. Rudy is clearly skilled.
I agree , I think it’s more like 55/50 tho . The best capabile rig with a bad driver stuck .
Never underestimate a two wheel drive pick-up... shoved a 4' high snow drift out of my way... took a few runs at it but with chains and 400 lbs. of cement blocks in the box right behind the cab... mission accomplished!!😁
Yep. 2 wheel drive can be so capable. Rudy, how about building this as a 2 wheel drive prerunner - lock the back diff and get a bunch more suspension travel in it!
I`m aware of the weight helping in snow. I guess weight isn`t an advantage in hill climbing and the weight is shifted on the wheels for traction anyway.
Like father like son Mat and Rudy must prove that theirs no situation to tough they cannot overcome
Thanks for not doing click bait. I'll keep coming back just to see the growth.
This little truck is just screaming for 4 WD. Just imagine what she can do once you get her there. And, of course, we'll enjoy watching the build. Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Speed solves most issues with offroading lol
(It also causes many more)
Momentum is what counts, just not speed in itself.
I had a 2wd 66 Chevy LWB 1/2T with posi. I went 99% of the places a 4wd would go. You just proved that without posi or locker ! My dad always said all 4wd did was get you a little further down the road and stuck better.
No you didn’t You know a posi is a limited slip right?
@@flight2k5 of course, one and the same.
Well, this was fun! Thanks for taking us along.
That headliner is classic!
The best thing about that ride was the steering wheel cover.
The door lock rope was my favorite 😁
I found myself zoning out on that wheel cover too!
Definitely it’s a classic truck not too many left
250k made from 86-92 our current comamche registry only has 9k on it.
**RUDY'S BACK FLIPS ARE PERFECT!!! +++ GO 2-WHEEL DRIVES = YIPPEE!!!**
Great video! And thanks for showing how a 2-wheel drive vehicle can take you to some pretty fantastic locations...
Yes! You wouldn't believe some of the places I took a 1990 Ford Festiva!
You don't have to be crazy, but it helps!
Whish I still had it, I want to try it on that road!
Probably ending up get rescued by Matt, but...
@@mahbriggs mine was a 1977 Plymouth Arrow ( Mitsubishi Lancer in Japan ) and my buddy and I got some 4x4ers going at a party one night, we were laughing at them over this little hill that they were driving up and down to show off. My buddy had a front wheel drive Subaru hatchback and I had the Arrow, we took off almost bumper to bumper, went up the hill, he just punched it to spin around, while I played with the e-brake to shorten the turn, and we both flew back down the hill, spun around and repeated the same thing. Then they understood why we were laughing, the low center of gravity and short wheel base makes a difference.
The Comanche is exactly the type of vehicle you and your dad rescue in the middle of the night - two-wheel drive, under-powered and under-equipped. So many newbs find themselves on a road that "suddenly" gets gnarly and it's too late to turn back. Can't wait to see what you do with the Comanche. Yeeee hah!!
The door was bad but the headliner would have been
1st on the agenda. LOL
Fun fun. Can't wait to see what Rudy has in store for it.
Lets hear it for the one wheel peel!
That was a surprisingly graceful back flip
Adding this comment at 6:00 in, I'm expecting Rudy to make it without 4WD but run out of gas 😃
A great vid and nice to see that there are other people on the trails other than those that need rescuing
:edit:
having watched it all now - another BRILLIANT vid - looks like you all had a great time.
Loving the format, the chat and great camera work. Immersive and engaging, really feel like I'm part of what you're doing and am really looking forward to seeing you all (and the channel) go on to great things.
Excellent adventure! You made it, the Comanche did really well for just a 2 wheel squeal! 💯👍
And a 1 tire fire differential.
You mean 1 wheel drive, most of the time! 😂
Did it though?
The one wheel wonder made it no problem. I went many places in Alaska with mine before I finally went to a 4WD. Brings back old memories of people saying it will never make it.
Cool fan interaction on the trail. You’re a good role model for the young wheelers coming up AND you can bust out a back flip. Solid.
One thing that I wish the SxS community would learn more about trail etiquette. You always yield to the person with the larger vehicle or the person coming up hill.
Not to dang shabby for a $600 truck. Thanks for sharing.
Had a Comanche for 10 years. It was 4WD. that truck was amazing. A bit on the small side, but that was its advantage! The 4.0L was amazing!
I used old cufflinks with the rotating T bars to hold my sagging headliner up. It worked great for years.
Or T Pins work great too ☺
QUICK FIX FOR HEAD LINER! Get some upholstery pins, they’re spiraled pins that are a savior for those liners. Get a bunch and make your own names or logo on the roof!
Love it! More Comanche content!
Looked like great fun Rudy. Thanks for taking us with you.
08:28 "It's about the angles." ... "Woah!" And just like that, Rudy and team are doin' just fine! ...and nothin' sketchy goin' on here.
😂😂😂 The little Comanche that could!!! Omigod!! You’re killing me! Best entertainment for us tonight. I love the commentary that comes with the footage.
It definitely needs 4 wheel drive 😎👍
Considering the tyres on the 2 w drive you did remarkably well : having fun is just great :)
I've taken my little 2wd ranger on a couple trails like that. I put some 35s on it and it does ok. That Comanche could be pretty awesome with a little love.
If you can drive, you can drive!! Janelle is a Doll... she should have her own channel.
Go Rudy as a 14 year old teenager in the early 1960s I turned a 1950 Pontiac 2 door into a pickup truck and for years ran all over the logging roads in the Pennsylvania woods. It had a flat flat head 6 cylinder with a 3 speed Manuel transmission. Sure had a lot of fun with that machine, wish I still had it.
Leave it 2WD!
I've driven 2WD Rangers for years year-round in New England and a limited-slip rear and the right tires get me where I need to go. That Comanche is would be a great parts runner that you can still have fun with. A 2nd generation Ford Explorer 8.8 rear end would be a good junkyard swap to get rear discs, LSD, and 4.10 R&P with a matching lug pattern.
There’s a seatbelt right next to the door you can use to latch it and it even has a quick release built in.
That's a cool little collector truck.
Don't beat that one up.
Fun ride! I'm looking forward to what you end up doing with the Comanche. 👍
Man I really love the brother videos... and I always wondered why Kaulin rocked a "RAD" trucker cap in a lot of videos... that's brotherly love. Awesomeness!
Locked rear diff would have made it a lot easier.
Parts to convert this one to 4x4 are not expensive if you stick with oem.
You can add 4wd to those. They just put a straight pipe in where the axle would normally go, swap that and install t case and shifter and you're good.
Gotta swap the trans too. Output shaft is different length for 2wd vs 4wd.
That was a NICE video Really enjoyed it !!
Great job on the trail especially with no Extra help Looks like you had a lot of fun at the falls all of you did a wonderful job and doing flips into that water oh my stars !
Nice job navigating that trail in one wheel drive!
Knowing the trail and truck limits conquered the trail. Traversing the top of the falls were epic.
Good video. Sometimes if you put a little tension on your parking brake you'll get more traction out of your open differential. Nice to see Janell is more relaxed around the camera.
Man this reminds me of when me and one of my buddies were younger. I had a Dodge Dakota 89' model 2wd same color as your Comanche even. We took that thing through the 4wheeler trails back in the mountains where I live (Blue Ridge Mountains). It was back before cell phones and internet so we didn't have a camera with us. But what we did bring along was a quart jar of mountain dew which always made the trip much more interesting😂.
Great video 👍
I’m guessing a lot of people are wondering why you would put your Mountain dew in a quart jar .
I’m guessing the mountain dew y’all had the tougher trail the truck could handle.
@@lethargicmotorsport2025 lol 😂 we thought we were ten feet tall and bullet proof. But I'll have to say that little 2wd truck impressed me.

@@turkey4957 thanks Captain obvious !
Love to see your channel growing!! Your content is great!! Keep it going!!
Really enjoying your content Rudy. You seem genuinely happy with how life is going. Can't wait to see what's next.
In 1988, I bought a 1988 Jeep Comanche. Short bed,4cyl,4 wheel drive, same blue color as your, I traded it 3 years later to my brother, I wish to this day that I never should have traded it away, could never find one around, did manage to pick up a 96 cherokee, after watching Matts off road recovery.
Rudy you should make it into a 4x4 over lander/ camping rig for your self and your woman
Another fine example of brotherly love on display. Nice scenery and great camera work to display it too.
Just wondering what tire pressure were you running or does that make less difference without deep sand?
When I was a teenager, the only way to get to a great hangout spot was via a logging road that crossed a stream at one point. I took a 1980 celica up that road several times. When your motivation is "I absolutely am getting there" you can do a lot with a vehicle. I have since gone to that spot, and I made sure to put it in 4 low before even attempting the hills..... the ability of youth and stupidity knows no bounds.
I hear ya man. All our high school drinking spots were as far away from civilization as possible. Scoring a case of beer was equal to winning the lottery. You had to do whatever you needed to do to enjoy the spoils. I think back now at all the situations i put my CIVIC through....it's a wonder i'm not dead.
Rudy, your content is coming into it's own, and it's getting better all the time. Thanks for a really fun, entertaining trip up to Toq falls!
You are the guy you dad has to rescue every day!
That wheel base is prime tho Rudy! Build it! build it! build it!
the nods and casual acknowledgements to those quad and utv riders whilst 2wding it up in the comanche is a rudy greatest hit. nice one dude. i like this video the most so far.
Sand hollow....Rudy's on the way!
I don't remember if I mentioned it before but they have these anti-gravity devices that would work to hold your headliner up. They are called magnets. 😉
We used them back in the '70s in our 1963 Corvair.
You are really expressing the "Adventures" portion of your channel name. I enjoy your channel and keep up the good work!
You definitely learned to off-road from your dad. When it doubt, just give it more gas! Nicely done, can’t wait to see that thing with a working door latch and 4wd!
The Comanche would make a cool daily driver the way it is but it'd be way cooler on full widths and 40s.
Parts runner would be nice for it. Clean it up and use as an office truck.
@@dr.floridaman4805 I do like a clean stock truck that has far less issues, just hit the key and go.
I have a 90 Comanche Eliminator as a nice daily driver. 4X4 5 speed manual. Interestingly enough it was a parts runner for a Jeep dealership for 15 years.
I never thought about visiting Utah. But after watching your videos and your dad's Videos, it's one of the top destinations I want to take my kids to
What about building the Comanche into a prerunner? LIft, large tire, trailing link suspension. Keep the powertrain stock for reliability. Make it a parts runner.
Can’t wait to see ya fix it up !! Always fun times at the swimming hole . God Bless and see ya on the next one
Great stuff guys looks like fun, and your jeep ute was an eye opener, thanks for sharing.
Maybe a locker, then she’s dialed in. Oh, and maybe some scissors for that headliner. Nice work, you’re killing it.
You made this old man smile. Buddy of mine had 74 F100 3 speed 240 6 cyl, 2WD. We took that thing everywhere. Places they said it never should have made it. We had a ball, glad to see that still lives on
Rudy, the truck is hot. You need to put that on a four wheeler frame without a doubt. It has the ability to be a number one machine like the Morvair. Go for it.
Skill & experience is often more important than the equipment! Way to go Rudy! Good stuff!
Thanks so much for sharing this with us Rudy and crew
Amazing. I’ve always wanted a Comanche. Can’t wait to see the build on it
Man that brings back fond memories! I had an 88 pioneer long bed 4wd and loved it, right up to when it caught fire and burned. Same color too.
JaNelle looks good dude 🤤
This was so fun to watch! Really inspires me to get a tinker rig
I drove 2WD 5M pickups for many years in many situations, particularly on snowy New England roads. But I also had some time on some off road trails. What I learned is that it's all in how you drive it. I liked watching Rudy tackle these "roads". There's always something I can learn for future runs.
Rudicon 2 for sure !
Would be cool to have 2 rigs built up.. maybe do something a bit different with the commanche, although it does need 4wd I think, or at least a locker
My best friend growing up had a Scout II with a bent frame so the doors would never stay closed. It was always seatbelts for us, and a bungee cord across our laps attached to the door handles to keep the doors closed. Another great video, thanks for bringing us along.
Enjoyable and thanks for taking us along.,
I can't wait to see the modifications or build on this Comanche. This video made me chuckle because I've gotten my old dually into places where Jeep guys come up and they're surprised I made it without hurting the truck. You can go a lot of places in a lot of things, but I do need lockers and front and rear winches. I don't beat my truck up, but I do sometimes go places you wouldn't expect to find a dually. That's what 4 low and a granny gear is for.
That was fun. Looking forward to this build and Collins truck 👌
I see Janelle, I upvote
Janelle opening the door for the WIN!!
