I finally made the Adeline Dress 10:04 and I absolutely love the style lines. The Viola top is next on my radar.
I love these dresses. Yes, I'm 66 and comfort is the first must! So funny how when we were younger how we would put up with much discomfort or even "pain" for fashion. No more.🙄
I agree! I just can't do it any more!
Lots of interesting dresses. I tend to wear pants and only have a couple of dresses.
Thanks Vicki!
These are really interesting pattern choices. Your experience and commentary are appreciated! Thank you.
Great video..Love ur unique taste and styles🙏😁
Wow, thank you
This is the best round-up of dresses ever! Inspired! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
The colors you are wearing in this video are perfect for your skin tone.
Thanks Sharon xx
The Celestial dresses you’ve made look fantastic! I looked at the pattern and wouldn’t have even considered it - it looks shapeless and huge! But the ones you’ve made look pretty and drapey. What a difference the right fabric can make! 👍
One of my favourite summer dresses!
Loved this! Your taste for unique features but simple styles in beautiful fabrics speaks to my soul! Like you, my 55 year old body also demands comfort. I have never been one, but you make me want to become a dress person.
Oh thank you!
Loved this video. I appreciate that you included both indie and big 4!
My pleasure ❤️
Great selection of patterns, very inspiring presentation - many thanks !
thumbs up
💕💕💕 All kinds of new-to-me patterns to try! I’m finally getting excited about Style Arc. I wasn’t too interested in them before seeing this video. Thanks, Kristen!
Hope you enjoy it!
Great collection with lots of inspiration. Have taken away a few ideas. Thanks
You’re welcome 😊
The dress patterns and dresses you've showcased are so lovely. Thank you Kristen for all of your hard work. ~Nancy
You are so welcome!
You have great style. I love your fabric choices.💃🏽
Thank you! 😊
That was great, thank you so much for taking the time to runs us through some very thoughtful patterns. I have earmarked a couple of pattern designers to have a more in-depth look at.
You are so welcome!
I loved that perfume bottle print even though it is polyester.
It's so fabulous!
I came to about you today. Very happy you are in Melbourne. Thank you.
Thanks so much for watching ❤️
Really great episode I enjoyed it immensely very inspiring, although not so good on the purse. Thanx I enjoy your vlogs immensely.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you so much for this! One of my beefs with indies is that they seem so basic, so it's nice to see that many have those interesting lines. I'm all about architecture in my sewing. And as I sat down. . . here I am in my Simplicity 8640 as I began to watch! And you're right, I made this one in a rayon and it's the perfect fabric for the pattern. I also did Simplicity 9099 last year for Easter (in a crepe back satin) and it is beautiful. I'd love to try it in a soft cotton lawn. And of course the Eva - for as much trouble as I had with the construction of that, it is a FABULOUS pattern. I used the bodice for my "Hawaii" dress because it fits so well. I may have to do that one again with sleeves. I'm so thankful you were the reason I did it! 💖
And p.s. There's a McCall's pattern from 2004, M4510, that's just like the Trends Bia T-shirt dress. It's in my "to do soon" basket -
I love that Easter dress on you Jen! I need to make it!
You've got some great looking patterns there. Can't wait to see what you'll make. That Gertrude dress looks interesting 🤔
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for the video. I learned some new designers I didn’t know before. Considering the Vali dress!
I enjoyed seeing your dog in the background. Do you have any other animals back there? It seemed like there might have been another running back and forth 😁
haha Thanks Ash, we also have four cats but they are indoors!
This is a very interesting video today which challenges us all to think about experimenting with a few different and perhaps more modern styles. Thank you for a different "spin" on our sewing "get togethers" today. I found a few patterns I would love to tackle - thank you for the challenge:-) xx
Glad you enjoyed it! So happy :)
Thanks a ton for these Fantastic pattern collection 😍
My pleasure!
Beautiful dresses, nice work! And thanks for all the details on these patterns :)
Glad you like them!
Thanks again Kristen for sharing all these new patterns and makes. I really like the perfume bottle print with that pattern dress... now to try and find time to make something, but will need to wait until after my daughters wedding.
Thank you so much!
Love your dresses and fabric !
Thanks so much xx
Really interesting style lines… love these types of videos!
Thanks again Kristin for the wonderful inspiration. I rushed to spotlight today after seeing the celestial dress in rayon….I’m a copy cat!
Wonderful! Love that!
Thanks. Enjoyed your take on this! A few dresses were new to me!
Glad you enjoyed!
Love this type video 📸😻
Hi, what a great round up of dresses. I love modern, funky style lines too. I've made the Syndey Dress from Style Arc though it was not a great success at the time because it was my first make in YEARS. So I was 'practicing' and ended up making a dress that was way too big for me. I will definitely make it again though now that I am back in the groove :-). I almost jumped right in and bought the Eva Dress pattern from Tessuti when I saw it in your video, but then I thought 'is it too much like the Sydney dress???' Honestly, I have so many patterns that are quite similar... but I just keep thinking that I'm looking for that Holy Grail pattern that I will want to make again and again. lol I should make up more of the ones I have actually bought already... my Holy Grail could already be here!
It's so hard not to just keep buying patterns! Definitely an wonderful addictive hobby!
Loved all of them!!❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much x
Love the dresses such a variety i agree style and comfort are my thoughts also the more classic and simple look works best being in the over 70 bracket but i love color thanks for a great video
Thanks for sharing!!
Fantastic episode . I am trying to branch out into wearing more dresses and the lines on a lot of these would convince me to try .
Go for it!
That first pattern… I love it. I made it in a linen blend. One thing I realized was that i had to move the pockets up! I’m short enough that my hands couldn’t reach them!! I laughed and laughed. Also, I love the style sew me Anna dress! I took 4 inches off of it. So pretty.
How awesome is that pattern! Love it!
I think the magenta colour of the Melba dress is beautiful on you. You put so much work into your videos, I've definitely been inspired by your suggestions :)
Oh thank you! That makes everything so worth it!!
I made the 8640 in a structured fabric, like a light canvas and love the shape it took in this pattern
It's such a great pattern!
Lots of inspiration there! Love Tessuti too 💕.
Great patterns!
Hi Kristen, thank you for sharing some of those unique patterns. I do have a couple of them already (yet to make), but now so many more to add to my "to make" list. Just love your fabric choices, they suit the patterns so well. And I'm a bit of a fan of double gauze fabric, love the texture, I made a long gathered tiered bo-ho skirt from double gauze, and just love wearing it.
Take care, have a fabulous day xx
You are so welcome! I love a beautiful boho skirt!
I really enjoyed this video of the different dresses. I have been hesitant to do some of these styles but I think I might give some of them a try. Look forward to your next video.
Please do!
You've got an interesting selection. Loving the solid colors!
Glad you like them!
Yes I do too, nice to see green in this year. I love green it’s even out in the shops this year. I’m not keen on the styles, so watching you inspires me to start sewing. I’m amazed, every colour you wear suits you. Thank you, I really enjoy watching your videos.
Wow! What a great video! I wrote down quite a few pattern names to try in the future. Thank you 🙌🏻
Glad it was helpful!
great vid, thanks Kristen 🤩
Thanks for watching!
Good video, more of this please, a bit more in depth than the usual sewing channels out there
Thank you! Will do!
Great ideas! I’ve saved this as there are a couple here that I really want to make as we move into the Spring/Summer! Thank you for the inspiration 👍❤️
You are so welcome!
I've made my Melba in black linen. It's fantastic. Classic and timeless styling that can be dressed up or down.
Brilliant!!
Some great pattern suggestions😍 I've made the first Simplicity pattern in a linen & I love it. It's so easy to wear & you can dress it up or down. I've never heard of Trend patterns, but I'll definitely check them out. Thanks👏👏😊
Based on your collaboration with Jen, I made the Simplicity pattern up last Summer. I made it in a light floaty fabric and it is really very comfortable and cool to wear. I made the sleeveless version and it has been great on the very hot days we've had this Summer.
Wonderful! It's a fantastic, easy sew!
Some great ideas there for Autumn/winter dresses, I really want to have a go at one of the asymmetrical dresses just not sure which one yet. I just completed a Merchant & Mills BoxBox top but made a dress just by adding on another lower half from another M&M pattern. The pleats in the front are beautiful and I did the cris cross stitching with a metallic thread to add a bit of sparkle to a simple shape. Keep the videos come I just love the inspiration 🙏
Thanks so much Kathy!
Great video, thanks. I've just made the SA Gertrude dress and wore it to a wedding last weekend. I really love it. It's very flattering. I'm very keen to make the Sydney dress as well and love your version.
Sounds great! I cant wait to try it!
Thank-you for the work you have put into this vlog. I'm not a big fan on big sleeves I must say. I prefer different necklines or off-centre closures. Nothing too fancy but just a little tweak that gives interest. I don't like big collars having said that. Many years ago, necklines seemed to be the focus, I'm waiting for them to reappear again.
I totally agree! We need more interesting necklines!
Great Video 📸
Thank you 🙌
Some gorgeous patterns, I am currently crushing on the Tessutti 'Bella' dress and Stye Arc "Melba' - with the Bella dress instead of binding the neckline (really really dislike binding) and will always replace it with a facing 🙂
Wonderful! I agree, I love a good facing!
I am here for comfortable shoes and clothing! One of your suggestions made me think of the Sointu Tee pattern from Named Clothing.
Thanks for sharing!! Great pattern too!
Thanks for a great roundup on the more unusual dress shapes out there. Thanks to inspiration from you I have madeup so many garments in this last nine months. Dressess completed are Stichbird, Fringe ( a favourite in indian cotton) I purchased this online from Itokri. Another favourite is the Charlie Kaftan and Montavilla 9 loved this easy pattern so much with its clever flutter sleeve made from a slit in the main pattern pieces! Time to move onto more shirts and my nemesis .. pants. I made the Sew House Seven pants, they were huge, ended up reworking them and still dont like them so have given up on them. I have just purchase the Archie and Barry pants and shirt bundle today so will give them a go. Any you can recommend. I also have the winslow.
I love the Free Range from Sew House 7, The Pietra from Closet core, the Tessuti Suzy pants, the Pattern Emporium Pleats to meet you, and I'd love to try some from Style arc next too!
Hello, Kristen!
The first Simplicity pattern: my favorite was the print! I will try that one now. I’ve been playing around with the unusual hemline patterns. I have that Vogue one, blue striped, it will be made this summer! It heats up where I live and the humidity is terrible! Don’t cool looking dresses make you feel cooler just looking at them?
Cheryl
Love a cool modern dress Cheryl ❤️
🇨🇦😃
Thanks for posting. I’m over 50 and only interested in comfort. Stylish is good as
Well! How did you hem the double gauze? I made a Seamwork Kennedy dress in double gauze . I realized the rolled hem it suggested wouldn’t work.
I just sew a narrow hem but it can be a tricky one to sew with!
I have that vogue striped dress pattern. I have not made it yet because I have not found the right fabric. I only have about a 1000 yd of fabric and none of it is quite right for that dress.
Yes, its all about finding the right fabric!
I love the material you have on,where did you get it?thanks
It was from Eastcoast Fabrics a few months ago now!
Great list of patterns! I’ve made the Hope, the Vali, the Mersis, and the April. The Pia dress looks interesting to me. I’ll go check that one out.
Awesome dresses Michelle!
In the 2 Style Arc patterns....those narrow bottom's, hard to get over shoulder's and bust?
No, not at all! Very roomy!
What pattern did you use to make the second dress you’re wearing at the very beginning of every video. The red one with gathers and very flowy
That would be the Pattern Emporium dress patternemporium.com/products/everydays-a-weekend-easy-fit-tiered-dress-pdf-sewing-pattern?aff=82
The celestial dress sleeve hack..can’t find it and the mersis isn’t the same
It seems that the sleeve hack pattern has been discontinued as I can’t find it anymore either! Such a shame
@@thedahliasewciety the dress looked fab on you. Thanks for responding 💞
