The look of sadness and defeat on Daniel Craig’s face isn’t from being told he’s no longer in command. It’s from the sadness that he knows arkady just ended his own life.
He genuinely hates what he’s about to do because he doesn’t want to be like the enemy and expose that side of him to the rest of the group...but it has to be done or they’ll all die from hunger or Arkady will slaughter them
He was putting Arkady out of his misery because the weight of the situation they’re in has unlike the rest, broken him down and made him go insane to the point that he lacks self-awareness or the awareness of others...he’s also only surviving for the sake of surviving...he has no family of his own, he’s lonely and the kick that he gets out of depriving others of their basic means of survival was his only source of pleasure...that's the definition of miserable...he's got nothing to live for otherwise he would never sink to this low...Tuvia did him a solid and also saved the others (who do have purpose) from starving to death or being slaughtered which was probably the next step...
Is that still true? Like in non combat military areas? I don’t condone shooting down peeps if they actually mutiny, but if so it’s a cool tradition to have passed down
@@NgJackal1990 I was in a combat MOS in the Army for many years. That’s not a thing. Officer’s do not carry sidearms outside of a combat zone. Unfortunately, ungrateful people at the time in that camp when war was over and safe to come out, some of claiming the brothers were tyrants. Some said the brothers were their saviors. But, I see brutal force is necessary.
Not only do I love that Tuvia’s actions were necessary to dispose of Arcardy who had this coming while sending a strict message to anyone else contemplating mutiny/revolt, after killing him he advocates the ultimate savagery by telling them to put his dead corpse in the woods to be eaten by the wolves… If anyone was still thinking of mutiny after him shooting Arcardy, those thoughts certainly ceased after hearing their bodies would also be torn limb by limb by one of the most vicious predators on the planet if they did the same… Brilliant acting and one of my favorite war movies without question. 🔥
This scene also really shows Tuvia’s growth. As earlier in the film. Zus told him he did not have the stomach to do what was necessary when the milkman led them all back to the first camp. This shows that he is now willing to do what’s necessary for the best of the group, even if it means death.
I love this movie. It’s an amazing true story that depicts what real hero’s are like. I strongly believe that we should have been taught about the Bielski’s in school or at least in Hebrew school (I’m half Jewish) yet they were more concerned with battles and Torah stories, respectively
It’s great that Tuvia didn’t even have to yell to get his point across As long as he still has air in his lungs and his heart is beating he is commander, period.
And that is why you would never lead a group like this. The execution was not for going against the orders or hurting his brother, was because what they did was against the discipline and demolished the morale of the others so he mist be punished to regain that morale and order.
It’s not even for disobeying orders or the fact that he’s a humongous douchebag, that’s minor. If he was allowed to live, he’d eventually kill everyone...beating up Asael was a clear sign...an asshole by nature is one thing but a starving asshole? Basically Tuvia did two things - saved everyone from famine/death and put Arkady out of his misery...because he was clearly the weakest person there...the people he’s stealing food from and bullying are hundred times more resilient
1:47 when Arkady told Tuvia "you're no longer commander", everyone, including his crush, thought Tuvia was just going to accept defeat and Arkady smiling menacingly thinking he's the new leader. But Tuvia did a 180 spin like the 007 intro movies and executed Arkady for treason and assaulting his little brother, Asael. Asael knew what was coming and Tuvia even offered people to get out of his tribe if they don't want to be under his wing but the people didn't have a choice and they knew it. Also, the girl in 2:41 holding her plate on her chest looks beautiful. I hope she is not a minor but she looks like an adult. I do not know who the actress is.

Everyone thinks it's cool but things can go south fast when leaders start to act like this. But bottom line, arkady fucked around and arkady found out.

@@edwardthach1849 This movie is complete fiction and has nothing to do with reality. He fought only with the Polish partisans in the service of the Russians occupying part of Polish territory. @Rowan Nowicki You misunderstood me. The Bielskis never fought either with the SS or the wermacht. This movie is the creator's fantasy. I'm not saying they were their allies. The Bielskis simply did not fight the Germans, they hid in the forest and the only ones who fought these bandits were Polish civilians.
