Get them talking, conversing, moving around and then listen and watch. Selective breeding, evenif not every plantation did it, has really changed them to be different. Many africans who migrate to America get mad when they hear the "n-word", NOT because of its historical usage but simply because they dont wish to be grouped together with african-americans who can trace their dna to slaves.

My father was with my grandfather in German town in NYC after the war. They were having a beer at a bar.
