I know u don’t control it. But so many sales and comps on eBay aren’t real. Like who knows if somebody bought that DiMaggio for 25k. If there was a better way to verify sales on rare cards that would be cool. Only comps u can believe are high pop comps.

I was the owner of this card in video. Had it graded around 2012. Would love to talk to Geoff about other vintage auto cards, what vintage he now is on the hunt for, what vintage card "got away," etc... Couldn't believe it was on video as I was looking at my phone yesterday! It's a celebrity card now lol
That’s crazy! How much did u sell it for? Looks really OC
Source : trust me bro
love how the dealer said his bottom was 22500 then you said 22 and without thinking he agreed
Selling 101 😂
Perhaps HE was "the seller", incognito!
And in a month it will be 2200 lol 😂
That’s the advantage of filming them.
nice deal..I would have said 21,500, extended my hand for a shake and NOT let go until he agrees. If he starts to wayver I squeeze harder.
I would strongly caution against crossing that card to PSA... Beckett's 'BVG' grading is notoriously lenient on vintage cards and there's no way that card comes close to a 5 - plus you run the risk of the auto being questionable to anyone else. The 2.5 that sold looked way better to be honest; much better centering, color, and a 10 auto on top.
They are more lenient with Pokémon vintage as well because psa has be hard on virtually perfect cards with a 10x’mag to them
I'm far from an expert. I love the card. Without camera proof crossing over is too risky imo
My main issue is paying that much money for an autograph that even if it's authentic, is not a good example of Joe DiMaggio's signature.
Agreed, massive risk here 💯
That PSA 2.5 was an extremely high end example for the grade, the eye appeal plus the beautiful 10 auto explains how it sold for 25k
I always love your innovative videos and also that you help collectors who want to learn how to invest in such a vast industry that used to be known as nothing more than a hobby. Thank you so much and have fun at the National.
Geoff, thank you for bringing more attention to this, underappreciated, but very important staple in the Hobby. Many serious IP auto collectors build sets of the favorite teams/sets. That is when you start to learn more about the players, why certain players signatures are more valuable than, perhaps, superior players' signatures: You learn about their lifestyles, early deaths, religious beliefs, and .... perhaps, where they are now.... I encourage you to delve more into that subset of the market. The autograph set builder (non pack pulled)
Andy is a straight up guy, done deals with him in the past (i.e. a Ted RC), he has great stuff, is super knowledgeable and fair. '41 Play Ball IS an iconic card.
I think we all owe Marshall Fogel a great debt of gratitude for pulling Geoff out of his ultra modern phase 😂😂
He already was.
Hes talked about it for a long time
Geoff is missing the boat on ohtani big time
@@shoheigoat4329I don’t know how you could say that they have him as the #1 player in their top 5 cards going up over at market movers like every week 😂
Geoff is a sheep and he just does whatever anyone tells him. This guy flip flops every time the market does and he just follows. Think of all of the trends he jump on and then back off like NFTs and a few months ago he was on the game ticket bandwagon. Where is he now on those, jumped right off.
Geoff I think you got a special card! I’m not an investor, I’m a collector 100%! I truly hope that you respect the history of baseball, as well as Joe D. You are very lucky to be able to afford this card, enjoy it!
Thank you and I very much respect it!! You should watch the episodes I did with Marshall Fogel, amazing baseball history!
@@SportsCardInvestorGeoff I think you sound fake in this video and do you like on card vintage autos?

Cool footage of all the old vintage autos. I like that you honed in on the Joe DiMaggio. Also, being able to consult Rick is awesome. Would listen to that guy talk cards / history of the hobby all day. Fascinating.
Congrats and that beauty of a 41 Play Ball Joe D! One of the true, timeless classics, that card just screams “baseball card” and “vintage baseball card”. Love it when you feature and provide some focus on Vintage. Congrats on your pickups.
It’s OC bad
@@santaclause3487 the OC aspect doesn’t have anything to do with the overall design of the 41 PB set and the Joe D card as being widely recognized as a classic. That was what my comment was. With vintage auto cards back in the 80s-90s when guys like Joe D were signing most vintage collectors weren’t getting primo condition cards signed, usually the opposite, they were usually getting poor condition cards signed. So OC or not, still a classic in my opinion. Cheers
Much better purchase then a $22k Desmond Ridder 😂😂
Haha I am certainly more confident in the long term value of this one! :)

What about Will Grier?
desmond is gunna do well. easy 1.5x
Great card I can barely spend $200 on one card keep the good work up man and keep bringing the videos
Me to i can only spend up to 100 geoff lives in another world thats why he can spend millions,
Wasn't expecting to see Mill Creek Sports in the video but that is awesome!! I love goin by there after work to grab some packs to open while waiting on traffic 🤙🏽 I get all my mariners and Sonics memorabilia there
I love your content it’s amazing 🤩
Music is everything... lol.... nice pickup, Geoff!
Congrats on the card. I walked by your booth and the kids were amazing. Smart idea 😊
WOOP WOOP!! Very interesting finds there at the Card Show. Congrats on scoring that Joe D!! Thanks for another amazing video Geoff!
I'm not sure the Dimaggio seller knows who Geoff is. At 13:06, he says he can take a check "with proper ID". LOL.
I agree and have been collecting rookie autos of all the greats I can find - more of what I personally like to collect. More valuable to me - don;t know why more collectors don't see it that way
Geoff I totally agree to each his own and I do believe on-card autos are more valuable to real collectors than the best conditioned. It boggles my mind how a modern rookie card without any auto or patch, just because it’s a “gold prism” it’s valued higher than any HOF vintage with an authentic auto 🤷🏾
Dude you have evolved so much this now feels like your show should be on regular tv ...your production ..intro ..shit whole show is so well done for a youtube show ...watchout pawn stars !lol
Very nice. Looks like a lot of fun.
I agree with the dealer from Mill Creek. For vintage on card auto's, I prefer pen over sharpie. It's more likely the card was signed closer to when the card was released than years later at a show by a collector or dealer. The pen also tends to blend with the card better, while the sharpie stands out too much.
Exactly and why these cards are not rare in Sharpie form. Mantle, DiMaggio, Williams, look at old Beckett Baseball Card Monthly’s from the 90’s and these guys were sighting thousands of items every weekend. That’s why people took the lower grade old cards and had them signed more as a novelty. Plus I have a hard time believing something is rare when one dealer has a whole showcase stacked with supposedly rare signatures.
That's a banger for sure. Congrats.
Jeff, You are Soooo.. right about vintage auto cards love the buy!
Glad you're making it known about the rarity of signed vintage cards! Thanks for shedding light on these vintage autos on your channel. I still think it's an underrated market and I've been trying to educate about the true, organic rarity of a lot of these cards.
Amen brother 🙏 🙌
Need longer videos❤ lets go
Congrats on the card, absolutely amazing!
Rock bottom 22.5. How about 22? Deal 😂
Glad you got the deal done! What a collectors piece!
So cool man love your content. I have been watching since I was 12 and now I’m 13 you really do inspire me and many kids in the hobby ❤️❤️🔥🔥
A whole year
Thank you!! Hope to meet you someday!
Incredible purchase! Beautiful auto on a great card
This is my first time coming and I’m really excited
That DiMaggio card is nuts 🥜!!!! Congratulations on a fantasy iconic card of the great Joe D. Fantastic value too
Great video
Epic amount of vintage cards! 🤯
That was a beautiful card. You did good with 22 thousand. Congratulations 👏👍🇺🇸
Idk. It’s OC
Great Deal Jeff. Congrats on the card
Gratz, amazing card !
I was so pump to hopefully see you here, but I ended up having a sick kid, hope everyone has fun.
Smart. I’m a big fan of rare + rare. Great to see higher grade on-rookie card autographs of players no longer with us. The market will continue to move upward on these.
You got me into card trading 🎉
Love your videos you coming to New Orleans for the card show at the poncho train center
Yes awesome beautiful card😊
Hey Geoff.....how many cases of those shiny Select cards in those unopened cases did it take in trade to get a 1956 common in PSA 7 grade?
I think you are correct, to each his own , I myself would rather NOT on card in person auto vs better grade not In person auto. Thats what is great about the hobby, you like what ya like and collect what you want!!
Get this man a show!
great pick up and taking some thought.
Wow ! An amazing card on your first day.
Congratulations!!! That was a great card!!!!
Thanks so much!!
That Dimaggio is incredible CONGRATS
I spent $11 on EBAY free shipping. I wish someone would buy $22k in $1 autos and flip them for $44k. Also you got Rick to say "I would get it out of the Beckett holder" on camera.
Even my Adrenaline was pumping when you made that purchase beautiful card congratulations!
That got intense
Buyers happy, Sellers happy! That’s what it’s about. Beautiful card, Congrats!
Congrats on the Joe D auto card
Beautiful piece of history and great investment
The National is a dreammmmm😅
Sure makes me want to go to the National and see those beauties!!! Maybe someday they will have it out west!!
anaheim labor day weekend 🎉
Awesome card!!
Nice deal. Never hurts to ask! The worse they can say is no. Nice card, always great when you can save $500 bucks towards something else!
Stop, currently I love that the rookie autos are cheaper then the 10's. Im collecting all my fav auto rcs. I agree should be a lot more valuable. But for now, I love it!!!
Epic!
Beautiful card
My opinion on the vintage card on card autos depends on where they put the auto. Sometimes its overkill or it ruins the look of the card.
Rick Probstein was his "Rabbi" making this deal 😂😂
What’s Good Sportscardinvestor early btw love the vids
Geoff, you have a lot of Rick Harrison in you... Great DiMaggio pick up.
How can I get my hands on some bgs protector like you got. The rubber
GREAT CARD GEOFF ⚾🔥🏈🔥🏀🔥
That Griffey Pristine 10 Auto 10 Rookie was wild.
Did Rick recommend the psa 8 star Jordan last year and it’s down? 🤔
Rick does what's best for Rick's business.
Sick card!
No way you ended the video like that, I WANT MORE!!!
The issue with Player Signed Cards (not obtained from a product) is Collectors have this notion that it could be a forged auto and you're relying on someone else to say they think it's real and have it slabbed as Auth. All those Fake auto articles have depleted the thought process. I've always loved having a card the player held personally and signed vs some sticker auto or mass signing. To me it's more realistic.
It was a much larger issue in the 1990’s when these guys were still alive and signing. Back then almost 80% of the signatures of Mantle, DiMaggio and Williams were found to have been forged.
I personally would never get a potential vintage high grade get hard signed. Can't do it 😅
Bro in back was just recording 😂😂
Where did you get the spinning stand?
Coming today Geoff trying to meet you
Please make a vid of the crossover to PSA
What a card!!!!!!!!+ Now this is a REAL investment card. Nevermind all of this new modern stuff that has a thousand 1/1's
wow! that DiMaggio is crazy! congrats on that pick up!
Man that Joe D card is amazing!!
Is it obvious to anyone else that Geoff doesn’t know why 1941 is an important year for Joe DiMaggio?
Wonder if he ever sent the Joe D auto to PSA. Would love to see how it came back....
That guy Joe had a PSA 8 Julius Erving ‘72 Topps RC. It was a strong 8, so I asked him “how much?” He told me it was “$6,500”. (Mind you, an Erving PSA 8 is around $2,300 or so). He then proceeded to tell me it was “really a psa 9, look closer” Well, I looked again, and guess what; it was still a PSA 8… I had to just walk away because I was about to hysterically LMAO!! 😂
That’s the National for you, a giant stroke fest for all of the big wigs to prove who’s the biggest douche. Overpriced cards and in your case, a bunch of used car salesmen.
Nice pick up! 😎👍
lol you could have easily had me for another 30 seconds or so after you bought that baby... nice pick up
Nice cards
Mill creek has all those Seattle autos griffey ,,ichiro etc.they're 15 min from me like maybe 30 from Seattle
Whats the Likelihood that Beautiful Red Ruth Card is forged; im thinking very high despite the PSA verification, looks too perfect.
Tea pot (I think) is right on the money about the lack of appreciation for vintage cards. Someone can pay 30k for a hyped up rookie no problem but will think hard about dropping that kind of money on a vintage card. That’s wild to me.
because their grandkids will not want vintage. similar to all those grandmas who bought silverware and antiques and now no one wants em. 😂
Goat buying a goat!!!
Geoff, find a Wilt Chamberlain auto! Pretty rare.
JOLTIN JOE DIMAGGIO
LETS GO!
Beautiful card. Nice auto, but that stray mark by the J is killing me.
They talked about how perfect the Babe Ruth auto was but it graded an 8.
Grader just had a bad day that’s all ;)
It was streaky in the loops and partially faded because of it.
Am I missing something? Latest comp on the app is $5k. That card is in better condition but not by a ton. The auto on the $5k was better than that one. I don't get it.
I'll take an auto over a non auto any day.
That card is beautiful
