That "bag holder thingy" is also great for us recyclers who need to wash out plastic bags and let them dry before putting them in the specialized recycling. Yes! Washing plastic bags is definitely a PITA, but the holder thingy helps them dry faster than using a dang towel. And you may not want to wash plastic bags, but at 71 yo I am doing it for your children. 💝

You probably reuse them and recycle when they spring a leak or become difficult to close. I label a bag with the date when it goes in the freezer. Last year I think I finally threw out a bag with a label from 2015. No, it wasn't in the freezer the entire time 😂. But had been reused multiple times for years. Unfortunately, we can't recycle storage bags. I'll use a container when possible because they are easier. To dry them, I slip them over a utensil in the utensil jar.

The bag holder contraption: I just put a gallon freezer bag in a two-cup Pyrex (or Anchor) measuring cup, fold the excess over like a cuff, add my food of choice (especially liquidy soups and sauces) up to the rim of the cup. When you remove the bag, the contents fill half the bag, which gives you enough room to squish the bag flat enough so that when you freeze the bag laying flat, the contents are thin enough that you just break off as much or as little as you need.

The Ziploc bag holder. My kitchen space is always limited and I have finally learned NOT to buy something I don't need. I always ask myself, do I already have something that will work? For years, I have just grabbed my 1qt Pyrex measuring cup and put my bag into it, open it, and fill it. A bowl works too, or a glass. As far as drying Ziploc bags, I use clothes pins, first letting it drip upside down, then slightly opening it and clipping it incorporating a bit of the top seam, and it stays open and finishes drying. I did have one of these gadgets, and immediately donated it. It had to have a place to live, and periodically needed to be cleaned, and took up space--and I already had something that worked very well.

  • @HydrogenTwoO
    @HydrogenTwoO Před 3 měsíci +8

Something I think is genius about the kitchen items is that, it makes cooking more accessible. As you said, maybe someone only has one hand, or has limited use (or cannot grip as well). Also with cutting produce or small pieces; I think making this more accessible can be life changing for someone! I think the idea of meal prep being hard can actually be really insightful into someone's life. Just someone having chronic pain-if the time spent doing an activity that adds to the pain can be cut down on (pun intended)-this opens doors!

@@sonotu2 Excellent! This is my go-to energy bite recipe:
      Ingredients:
      • 2 cups oats
      • 2 cups unsweetened coconut flakes
      • 1 cup peanut butter (or almond butter)
      • 1 cup ground flaxseed or ground chia seeds

      • 2/3 cup honey
      • 2 teaspoons vanilla
      • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, this is good with the almond butter)
      Steps:
      1. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
      2. Press mixture into the meatball maker
      3. Store in fridge or freezer

Those Souper cubes are amazing! I love to cook but I live alone and have limited freezer space. I tried so many methods to freeze soup, stews, pasta sauces, chili, etc, but none truly worked for me. The cubes solved all my problems. Perfect portions, the food freezes quickly, comes out of the cube easily and into a freezer bag in one or two portions and then stacks neatly in the freezer. Toss in the dishwasher to clean and you're good to go! I've doubled my usable freezer space and have hearty homecooked meals waiting for me on those busy "I don't want to cook" days!

That t-shirt holder made me think it would be good for holding my kitchen towels BEFORE I saw YOUR towels in it! I need something that is fairly flat against a wall since I would use this in my laundry "closet" (seems too small to call a room) which is big enough to have a washer on one wall, the dryer on the opposite wall, and about 26" of space between them. The "closet" is about 29" deep from the back wall to the doorway, so a wine bottle rack thing I first thought of would take up way too much of that valuable 29". I almost bought one of those meatball makers. I did buy a similar can opener and it completely died after a few uses. I wish you had told us what the products are called on amazon as i would like to take a look at some of them.

The foot polisher thing - there’s one called a PedEgg. Your subconscious somehow remembers 😂 tho that one is a mini grater and looks way more intimidating than the pumice stone ver you showed.

The pink foot polisher looks like a fancied-up pumice stone. If it serves to make you nice to your feet then why not. 😁

"Foot scrubby thing" 😂😂 I bought one a few months ago and sent my sisters a video where I said "So I bought this foot scrubby thing" - pan over to my dead skin and I go "sick." My toddler overheard me and now she always wants to watch the foot scrubby thing sick video or will randomly say those lines 😅

Do either the strawberry cutter or the grape cutter work on cherry or grape tomatoes?

I had "shirt extenders" made years ago. I had three knit blouses that hardly reached my belly button and I couldn't find blouses to buy that gave me the peace of mind that I could reach for the hold on the bus without showing my belly. So I took those three worst offenders to a seamstress. She cut them just under the armpit and added an elastic. I wore them under all my too short blouses and felt much more comfortable. I called them "truque" (trick in Portuguese).

I love to make my own meatballs. My girls help me so it's a family activity. Same with the chopping strawberries, eggs and so on.

Foot smooth egg thing is like a fingernail emery board. They make those for stubble on your legs as well so you don't have to shave right away.

Instead of the bag holder, some of us use the jar lifter (for canning, if you do that, which we do) upside down. One less gadget if you are a home canner.

I just checked 1⭐️ reviews of the glass heel scraper on Amazon (I always start with those). Quite disconcerting. Several reviews mentioned cut and sliced skin, even when used gently, bleeding, and heel pain lasting a week. Just a caveat.

I use a foot file. I swear it's just sandpaper on it! Seems to work like the one Kallie shows but I would think less potential for harm. I use it when my feet are dry. Really gets of dry, crusty skin.

The meatball maker will be definitely my next purchase! But I’ve a question? Why do you slice strawberries, grapes or waffles for your kids? It’s a genuine question. My children always had to bite and chew them themselves, and so did the children of all my friends. Is it just a habit in the US or is there is any reason behind it? Can someone explain?
