I don't think he is bragging so much as he is giving us life through his lens, his eyes, his testimony. He is excited about his photography! Great video, B&H, thank you so much.

All of Jeff Cable's presentations on B&H have helped me no end! From camera/lens selection, to working with various different clients. I can't recommend these presentations enough.
I have personally thanked Jeff and we settled on a mutual agreement that I owe him a meal when he's next in the UK.
    Such a fantastic gentlement.

I love it that B&H is putting on a video about how to shoot well with minimal gear. In all seriousness, it's a beautiful thing when a business is more concerned about making YOU successful than about THEM being successful by selling more products.
Granted, I'm always up for some more B&H toys, but it's great to have a business you can trust for advice and quality products!

  • @ChadHardy
    @ChadHardy Před 11 lety

I have watched all of Jeff's videos and I do not feel he is bragging. He teaches by telling you what he is thinking at the time he shot the photo. Yes, he is in some fantastic places, but the thought process is way to valuable to pass up. I am pleased with the educational value of the presentation and have no problem with Jeff taking this perspective on teaching.

I think I've watched all of Jeff's videos this week, and despite my long experience with shooting portraits I've found myself doing some things differently because Jeff showed us and this provided a refreshing approach to capture and processing. Further, his relaxed manner made his presentations very easy to listen to. Well done Jeff and well done B&H. I look forward to seeing more.

The session was titled "Shooting Great Portraits With the Minimal Amount of Gear". His overall kit didn't seem to imply that he had minimal gear and neither did his session speak of how to use minimal gear for photography. It is educative in nature with respect that it provides a good overview of how to take portrait photographs. Nonetheless, thanks for the tips.

Background and foreground are things I'm learning to recognize. I was with bunch of friends and they want a group shot. I noticed immediately that they placed themselves in front of cardboard boxes and I asked them to move 20 feet cause then they would be in front of a chandelier and a decorated stage.
As with aperture priority, I find with the increased low light capability of 5d MK iii, I can finally use auto ISO which frees me to do manual in action shots.

I don't think that's any "bragging" whatsoever. I prefer to call it passion about what you do.
It would be "bragging" if there was an "hey, look what I've done, where I've been and what I have that you can hardly dream of" attitude. I don't see it anywhere.

Thought that I would chime in here. I apologize for any "bragging" as this was not my intent. I want you to know that I read this and respect the opinions, and made sure to avoid this in future videos (including the recently posted workflow video).

Normally, I would have one 5D Mark III (now), a 70-200 2.8 lens and a flash. I talk about a lot of gear, but mainly use this setup for 90% of what I shoot.

Hey there and thank you :) I actually have several camera bags and admittedly they're a weakness when I shop as I'm always looking for something a little more perfect than what I currently own. Maybe I should design one myself?
I have one "everything" bag which is my favourite and also usual carry on when I travel and that's the Vanguard. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Brand_Vanguard&ci=176&N=4075788794+4291129238
I also have a Lowepro Sling which saw me through Africa www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/676054-REG/Lowepro_LP36174_PEU_SlingShot_302_AW_Camera.html
And I also have a Kelly Moore - Kelly Boy (she does stuff for men also) that I use when I'm around and about in the city and need to look a little more collared shirt rather than khakis and rolled up sleeves. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/874589-REG/Kelly_Moore_Bag_KMB_KB_BRN_Kelly_Boy_Bag_Brown.html
One day I'll find the one bag to rule them all.

I have to be honest - I am 18 minutes into this video and I'm falling asleep. The Powerpoint Presentation really is quite poor with regard to it's structure & I have written and presented my fair share of them to know. Not enough Photos & Graphics. The presenter must make a better attempt at engaging the audience from the start. He makes reference many times that he is weird but the way he comes across as a presenter is anything but. The presentation is written as if it were to a group of corporate clients and not a group of camera enthusiasts.
