My cat used to repeatedly lick my wrist, and then CHOMP! She'd never break the skin, and always purring when she'd do this.
Same thing my cat always do it to me.
My cat likes to nibble on my fingers in the morning to let me know he's hungry. He doesn't hurt me, just like an almost suckling. It's really cute, but as he's gotten older, he's gotten a little more aggressive with it, so I have to tell him no and hide my hands. Then he sighs at me and goes and sits by his bowl and howls lol
After 17 years of having my cat I can honestly say say has never bitten or scratched me. 😎
*she*
My cat eats on schedule at 6am and 6pm. When I oversleep beyond 6am, she bites me to get my attention just to remind me to feed her.
My 1.5 year old cat loves to nibble on my earlobe for some reason. Every night when we go to bed, he sits on my chest pins me down and just starts nibbling on my ear. It’s been like that since he was a baby and I brought him home. It used to bother me, but I’ve accepted it in time as one of his quirks.
this might be because he was taken away from his mother too young.
My first day cleaning a customer's house I admired their beautiful Himilayan cat and pet him on top of his head. He bit down on fleshy plump part of the palm of my hand. OUCH. Lesson learned.Same with dogs do not dive bomb your hand at them, even slowly. LOL When I got my first cat a white Persian the owners warmed me that he gave love bites. His bites I loved even if they drew blood. ha ha. But after watching this video I realized- I am a cat.
I have a 10 year old cat that will jump up next to me on the couch purring and wanting affection. So I start gently petting him and suddenly without warning, he turns and viciously bites my hand drawing blood, while growling and hissing! After several days he will want affection again and I feel sorry that no one in the family wants to pet him so I do, but the same thing usually happens. I can’t trust him and wish I had never adopted him. He’s like a Jekyll & Hyde cat!
I would recommend you mentioning this to your vet. Your kitty is definitely trying to tell you something. Please don’t regret adopting him, as cats are very intuitive to your thoughts. Be patient and talk to your vet.
If my cat 🐈 bits, I just give her a gentle pinch. She loves it. 💘
My cat only ever goes to bite me when she is in a silly mood and is rolling around. I'll go to tickle her belly and her reaction is to bring out the claws and go to bite me - but she stops before making contact and then looks away and retracts her claws.
It's like her instincts kick in and then when she realises it's me, she fights it.
This is the best cat channel I've seen so far. Very good advice, especially about deescalating. I once adopted a big adult cat that seemed unfamiliar with "human rules" though he wasn't feral. He would bite my hand when I petted him. In response, I totally froze until he let go, and then left the room for half an hour. It only took about 3 times before he realized that biting wasn't something that you did with humans. He became such a good cat that a group of children could pet him (with my supervision).
I currently have a cat that bites to "order" me to feed him because 4 times a day isn't enough (I can't leave food down because my other case is obese). The only way I've been able to deal with it is to put him in a separate room for "time out."
My cat Tiger-J gives me play bites,or he nips me when he's hungry.
If my cat bites hard but doesn't break the skin is it wrong to say "ouch. no"?
I would just say "OUCH" and walk away. This tells the cat that they are playing too rough, and that you don't want to play with them any more. Eventually they will learn how much bite force is acceptable.
Awesome input 😊
useful information thank you for telling me I will subscribe❤❤
I say, "Careful! Only bite gently please!". And she complies.
Lol now i feel weird for enjoying the play fight bites. I find it hilarious haha
Class video!
Glad you liked it!
Haven't watched yet but your thumbnail is a masterpiece!!)
I've got a "vampire cat"....lol. Our youngest cat loves to lick my neck, and then whamo- the fangs come out...and bites me. I no longer allowed him up around my neck or face. I tell him "no" and push him away. If he continues, then I put him in a 3 minute time.
Little kittens are always biting and jumping on their siblings and even their mother. This is play for them. When your cat bites you during playtime, it means that the cat is treating you like a member of their family. These are "play" bites, and are not meant to draw blood. Biting that causes bleeding is an aggressive bite, either from anger, or maybe because they never had siblings to play with, and never learned how much force is acceptable in a "play" bite.
Wow this was helpful
It should not be ignored that one of the most common reasons a cat will bite is when the overstimulation is to its sex drive, specifically when being brushed at the base of the spine. When a cat is enjoying the experience, it will raise its butt and otherwise indicate that it wants more of that. However, one should pay attention to when enjoyment turns into over stimulation and then sexual frustration, prompting biting.
My wife and I have had many cats over the years, (we have nine of our own right now), plus we foster for a rescue organization and have had a couple hundred fosters, mostly kittens but also a few adults. And we have found that the easiest way to teach a cat not to bite. This especially works well with kittens. When they bite, instead of pulling back away from them, you push your finger deeper into their mouth, not aggressively, just kind of push forward. That makes them gag and they want to get your finger out of their mouth rather than bite more. A couple of times doing this and they learn to associate biting with the discomfort and they stop biting altogether.
Of course, "love bites" as he says, are a part of communicating with your cats and we have a couple that do that for a variety of reasons. But our cats' love bites are never aggressive, never really hurt or break the skin. In fact, they are usually just light touches of their teeth.
I like cats"
Dang good video
It's normal I believe I have a Blue Point Rag doll cat he's now one years old. When he was 9 weeks old he would bite hands gently and lick as kittens do when playing and learning .. I was worried it might become serious when he gets older as months go by .. but even now he play bites hands he's does not penetrate his teeth deep ..
having sharp teeth might feel little prick ...
My baby gives me "love bites". I love him to no end 💓🐺💕🐾
With Mikey - I don't care about the love bites (I know he is being playful) but the claws are the ones that hurt. I tell him "no claws" which he now understands. So he gets a toy instead of my hand & I wait until later to give him his under chin petting which he loves. Judi
My cat bites me all the time, but he seems to know what a playful bite is, and what a painful bite is, he never bites painfully, but he will bite for show when I do something he doesn't like (such as trying to trim off a knot from his bum). He even somehow seems to know I was helping him after because even though he was twisting and squirming and gently biting while I was doing so, he is always extra affectionate afterwards as if he knew I was helping him with grooming. Not humble bragging. This cat is special, none of my 6 previous cats seemed to have understood this. My previous cats were absolutely wonderful, but this one is the friendliest yet.
il mio leo a volte per giocare ama mordere le mie mani.. ma non mi ha mai fatto male..
anzi ci divertiamo insieme a fare la lotta..semplicemente adorabile..
I would imagfine that a lot of people would look at how I interact with my cat as counterintuitive as I encourage bite play. I have always been a dog person, and our cat acts more like a dog than I cat so I encourage it. When she plays, she loves rolling around and attacking my hands. She never breaks the skin, and never bites me outside of playtime. When she doesn't want to rough play anymore, it is easy to read that in her and we will transition to a toy or even stop altogether. Usually within a few minutes after rough play, she will come over to me and start licking my hands. I wouldn't want it any other way.
I am a daily recipient of kitty bites 😺
I have a 16 week old kitten and I thought he was biting due to teething. Is that a thing? He’s not aggressively biting but I thought his teeth may be hurting since he likes to also bite a cardboard box.
My cat pretty much never angry bites, almost always playful
I got bite by my cat when he was a kitten, I learned then that kitten teeth are sharp as fuck as it pierced the skin and drew blood.
He was excited for his food and would only eat by hand, he was a huge diva with food as a kitten.
Love bites happen to but they don't draw blood.
Why does. Y 9 month old male cat jumps me and goes sideways and stars me down?
*_I have a real BIG Cat... when he bites it means one of two things..._*
1) He is playing and loves seeing me in sheer panic mode... he can smell my fear and loves it.
2) He is hungry and ordinary cat food is out of the question... he prefers 2 legged Bipeds running for their lives.
*_Did I mention I have a real BIG Cat ? When he is in that weird mood, time to get out of the LION Cage._*
My kitty always tries to give me a bite when playing. She's always very gentle, just letting me feel her teeth. The only times she'll use more force is if my hand is covered by a blanket or my sleeve, protecting my hand, never my bare hand and I'm obviously treating her a bit more aggressively, so she knows it's play time!
They could be in pain or really sick they could also just be in a bad mood, listen to the narrator and take your cat to the vet, but first see what's going on inside or outside your house, show your cat that you care about their happiness and wellbeing.
My cat bites our faces in the middle of the night when the house is quiet and sometimes breaks the skin. He is played with often. He is the only cat we've ever had to do this. Any suggestions?
The cat could also be in pain or feel sick or scared of you or something else.
I recently got a cat and after watching this video, discovered the following : cats bite for attention, cats bite for attention, cats bite for stimulation, cats bite for stimulation.
Very confusing creatures
If you feed treats by hand, rem cats can't see closer than 6 inches. They use their whiskers and nose that close. If your fingers smell like food - ouch.
My Deja looks like this black cat on the video. She is a little biter. When she was a kitten she would jump on the other cats and me, get in the zone and it was hard for her to get out of it. I would have to separate her from the others till she grew out of that. Even now I make sure I don't overstimulate her cause she will bite. She likes to get on the back of my chair and bite at my ponytail. I love her to pieces bites and all.
Spooky used to bite me hard, alot of times she would draw blood. For her it was all in good fun, I think she liked to hear me yell Ouch!!! 😁 It was her way of letting me know she's the boss 😸
My cat Lightfoot does the same thing. He waits until bedtime to attack. He doesn't realize how sharp his teeth are. Lights out the zoomies start. I don't play with him . He hops up by my feet then chomp the top of my foot. If that doesn't work he bites my big toe . He's almost got me trained to sit up and rub his belly. He's getting better about not biting all the time. When I adopted him he bit for everything now it's just to play . He has a basket of toys to choose from . He likes to chomp me .
@@dianemauer6185 ha ha they're so funny your poor 👣 got to love those crazy critters huh? 😸
@@traviswhaley6515 I love Lightfoot, nips and all. He's still a kitten according to some people. I can't/won't give him up if it turns out I'm allergic to him .
@@dianemauer6185 I wouldn't give him up either it would be to hard😿
@@dianemauer6185 yeah, keep that wonderful cat.
The worst bites I recieved was getting between 2 fighting cats.
Hello cat!!! My last cat
Cats are crazy and that is why i love them.
honestly i think my cat does not apply to any of these five reasons because after i pet him and he maybe falls asleep or just leaves because he has enough, the FREAKING SECOUND I TURN BEHIND HIM HE SPRINTS AT ME AND JUMPS ON MY LEG WHICH IS USUALLY ASSISTED BY BITING AND SCRATCHING MY LEG and then the only way to get him off me is shaking my leg tho he will fall and maybe get hurt in the process
Mine does that....Black Bart the Bushwhacker! He wants to roughhouse and PLAY!
My cat sucked my thumb from 8 weeks to 5 years.
I have a black cat that nibbled on my fingers.I think it's love bites.
Mine likes to sit on me, purr, and nibble, she does it the entire time she's sitting there and she doesn't do it with anyone else, so I consider it bonding
♥😍
Not really bad biting but kittens and puppies chew on stuff while teething.
My cat bite my ear hard and broke the skin and was bleeding and she’s only 5 years old! Why is that! 😢 edit: all I was doing was feeding her wet food.
Hello
Hi!
😻🥰😺😎🤗 🐈
So basically cats are sociopaths. I don't know why anyone would want own a cat with all those rules. They bite when they want attention, when they're having too much attention, when they want to play, when they've been playing too much. They're crazy animals and I'd never own one as a pet. Crazy!!
Is it ok to hiss back at an angry cat?
Привет мой дорогой друг
Your cat is really trying to figure out if they can eat you, the first step is to bite the dinner.
My cat snores?
Curl up in a ball and play dead. The cat will realize he can't eat the whole thing and go to get friends, allowing you to escape.
What the.
Ych
Cats often "play" with their prey, loving their prey to death.
my cat is really fat and crazy sometimes
Cats, like dogs, like their humans taste although cats don't slobber on you.
The cat will bite out of frustration and pain yeah anger too when the human refuses to take the hint that the cat no longer wants to be barthered, but people are just so freaking arrogant and uncaring that they just do whatever the hell they want to the cat!, And that is so freaking wrong and hateful.
My kitten bites for none of these reason she bites for position during bed time if my arm and chest aren’t available for her to sleep on she’ll bite me I guess my arm and chest are her spots and I have to sleep a certain way for her and I have to like it😑
TRAINING: Complete!
cat
And you could hurt them if you do.
I HAVE A CAT HER NAME IS BABY DOLL SHE BITE I DONT KNOW SHE BITE ME MAY BE SHE MAD AT ME ,
ВАУ
Or just play with them.
Too many commercials
Care about your cat's happiness and wellbeing and also their feelings not just yourself and your kids, the kids shouldn't be the most important, they are not your only family members the cats are too.
This was painful to read.
My cat loves me so much I have blood covering my arm and blood all over the floor. He must love me a lot.
Your cat gives you love bites just to remind you that they can eat you whenever they want to.
People use their hands as play toys with their cat's, freaking a holes ! And they want to get angry with their cat's when they are to blame In the first place.
Mostly because they are evil (as your thumbnail suggests).
