The new pieces turned out phenomenal! Don’t let people’s negative responses get to y’all. You’re right, when you purchase items from the thrift shops they’re definitely not high end, but once you start working on them they change totally. By fixing things needing to be repaired, and painting and/ or staining them to redo them, they BECOME High end! You both have an amazing eye that allows you to see what a piece not only could look like redone, but what it will look like, then you go about creating that high end piece. Keep up what you’re doing because everything turns out wonderful!
Didn't see any of those beautiful mountains but a set of tiny Beatrix Potter books makes up for that 😊
A solid wood cherry chest @ a thrift price is a score -- a little effort & your paint -- saves a lot of $ for the lucky
DIY fan & just think of the memories you make for your loved one -- not to mention the bragging rights you get for a quality product you made using JRV sold products !

I am so glad. I have a very large china hutch that I have hauled all over Idaho Washington and Oregon in my motorhome. Right now I am learning different methods for homesteading. Couldn't imagine painting it with a brush so I can hardly wait to get settled on my land.

Yall, I have a happy memory of Readers Digest Condensed books. My first ski trip was to Wolfcreek Pass. We stayed at Lucky Lodge in South Fork, CO. We had no TV. Read only Condensed Books at night!!!

Jami, I wish I had your insight on making your pieces into high end items. I’ve been watching you for several years now and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything that didn’t look high end when you finished it. The frame you just did that started out red and you used the copper may be one of my most favorite things. The canvas print you used compliments that copper frame so well. Never been a thrift store person but you have given me the bug. I’ve been to a couple stores and walk thru thinking, now what would Jami think about this piece. I can see how you and Zeb get so excited when you thrift. It’s like looking for hidden treasure. My mom and dad were into thrifting back in the late 90’s early 2000’s. Dad made a lot of money just reselling. He didn’t do any restoration projects. But they loved it. Thank you and Zeb for showing us how to make things beautiful. Take care

Love watching the big variety of your Channel. I really enjoy the makeovers but I will say this I do cry when you paint cherry or mahogany and some of the other nicer woods but that's just because I'm a lover of the wood. And I agree with you I hate that dark cherry wood stain. I love the look of the top that you guys did with the oil

Ohhhhhh, you need to make that mix, Haint Blue with what you added, you need that as a color…..AWESOME as usual!!! love it! I LOVE WHAT YALL DO! By the time y’all get your thrifted pieces cleaned and painted and finished, along with your display ability ( that itself is an art) it is definitely high end! Don’t stop doing what y’all do!

I recently bought a full size spread and shams for $5. Looked great. They were black. I washed them and when I took them out of the washer, the tags that tell what they are made of had shredded and there was lint all over them. I was upset. Threw the shams away and I'm going to try to delint the spread and wash it again. If I can't get the lint off, it will become a dog blamket.😊
These people who come on to biatch, have no clue on how valuable YOUR WORK is. It’s not like you’re rubber stamping anything either you’re plying an artistic flair that cannot be easily replicated. If they wanted to, they could go ahead and try.
They will NOT take into account how many printers you’ve gotten until now you have one that prints huge art on canvas. (And ZEB’s eye for the art to print.) They will not consider how many years and years you’ve done this. The two pieces you did today increased their value more than 10-fold. More important, they’re drop dead gorgeous! I challenge them to walk into a thrift and buy similar pieces and create anything of the caliber you created on this video!
It isn’t just that YOU created Haint Blue Cottage Colors and then casually plopped some darker color in to it. It’s that the color you created was done ONCE *because you know what you’re doing.*
I say all of this as a fledgling creator. I thought it would be easy to just do it. That’s not the case at all. It takes practice, talent and a rare business sense that has made you a success!
You have a gorgeous shop that has a LOT of handmade, and yes high end items, throughout.
And there’s TWO of you, creating side by side. (Does anyone understand how many couples canNOT work together like this?)
Turn up their noses all they want. Their followers know the difference between their negative cheap shots and JRV’s artistic talent.
