Daft Punk's Homework - The Samples (Outdated)
Vložit
- čas přidán 14. 11. 2019
- All known samples from Daft Punk's debut album 'Homework' as of 2019.
There is also 'Indo Silver Club Part 1' as a bonus at the end, since it was in the Indo Silver Club single, which is a song on Homework. My recreation isn't perfect, I think I didn't pick the right parts of the sample but I guess it's still enough to visualise how it was made, as no one did online before to my knowledge. Not on CZcams, at least.
Note: The Kris Kross Jump sample is possibly not even used in Revolution 909, just speculation, it's yet to be confirmed if there's even a sample in that track apart from the sounds at the beginning & end of the track. I still put it in there just because I feel like it's possible that Jump was actually used and I sorta hear it.
Also I know the editing is very poor, it's pretty much my first time doing so, but it's not like anyone's gonna watch this video anyway so it's not that big of a problem.
- Software used: Ableton, Audacity & Sony Vegas Pro 14 - Hudba
Sounds like Thomas went through his father's disco record collection lol
I wouldnt be surprised if thats actually what happened lol
it’s what happened
True
So true 👌 and I’m glad that he did !
Exactly lol
Daft Punk sampled so much they even sampled themselves
Sampling yourself is a chad move
@@jeanmichellelaurent ahem Justin bibber
@Ramuen And Pockys yeah, it wasn’t really a sample, but how skrillex turned jb into a flute like DaBaby turned himself into a convertible

that billy joel flip just blew my mind lol
All this is sampling genius. Best Daft Punk album, I like it better now after this vid.
Fancy meeting you here Pad!
Yeah I’m realizing Daft Punk we’re sample masters
@Alexander Richards knowing Elton got sampled by DF is amazing
Oh shoot it's the funny vaporwave man
for me it was Jump
When I saw Homework samples I wasn't expecting the level of detail to include "medium excited teenage crowd" lol. Props to you
It's surely the literal title of the sounds in the sound library
@@netsab9846 yeah, it's the actual title in The sound library it's from, sound libraries do not have interesting titles whatsoever
That was also sampled for a Gorillaz track off of demon Days I believe, it's just the generic name from The sound library that it's in.
those exact samples are used absolutely everywhere in movies, tv and music.
@@Numbnuts007 DARE infact
The Fresh sample is simply genius.
Absolute favorite song on Homework
Agreed
They grabbed their parents singles collection back in the 90s. 😁
Fresh’s sample always blows my mind
I still remember the day it was discovered. The internet and Reddit went crazy lol
same
How did he skip the "very busy sidewalk" for "Da funk"? That's so iconic, how did he forget??
Edit: omg, my most liked comment - frikkin 300 likes?! Thank you 🙏
yeah i know right?!!
That does kinda seap from R909 as well
@@jeanmichellelaurent Kinda true tho, yeah
Also, that Jump from Kris Kross sample is just GENIUS
@@tadasstrazdas That's probably the best bit
mad respect to you for not only showing where the samples came from, but also demonstrating what part of the sample they used in their songs
Daft Punk is so advanced in sampling they can sample themselves.
True Dat.
i love the style of this vid! the sketchy outline and font adds a lot
if that kriss kross sample is true that's such a clever flip
They hear samples in stuff that i would never think of trying out.
Its true and same with the Barry White sample in da funk
that sounds like a massive stretch to me tbh
The real sample for Revolution 909 is called Celebration by Fun Factory.
I don't like idolizing people in media but Daft Punk is a truly inspiring band for me. Homework will always have a special place in my heart
The Jump sample in Revolution 909 really got me.
Never again will we be graced by such incredible and innovative
sampling. I was given Homework in 1997 by my Dad on my 8th birthday and
it blew my socks clean off. Never looked back. Thanks for all the
memories - Especially in Leeds for ALIVE 2007. Best day of my life.
Still is. X
@ subjekt03 Amazing job on putting this together.. Really well executed.
Holy shit mate I genuinely had no idea that DP went to Leeds on the Alive tour. Bet that was an amazing show
Discovery and Homework were the first CDs I ever bought with my own money (it was Christmas money, lol). I was 11 in 2004. Really fell in love with them during that time. They were one of my first major entry points for electronic music and partially inspired me to create some of my own.
The actual sample for Revolution 909 was found recently
Cool art
Checked your video too, thanks for video TOO :)
woah
I also want to point out that the sea wave crashing sounds used in Fresh is from a BBC radio sound library I believe, but I couldn't find it anywhere online, so it's not in the video unfortunately
You Forgot "Musique" and Armand Van Helden's Remix of "Da Funk".. Both from the "Da Funk" Single.
Musique was Taken from Dan Hartman's "Instant Replay", and the Armand Van helden One Used a Song by Tata Vega, and Daft Punk's "Daftendirekt".
Mobarak Bin Saad Alzoraig Musique was not released as a part of Homework
@@aidanpottz8 I Know, It was Released as a B-Side to the Single "Da Funk", Along with the Armand Van Helden One.
Oh ok I didn’t know they were released together
I thought it was a reference to Crydamour
Daft Punk were like today's teenagers trying to capture a random second of a song and then use audacity to turn out to be their own song 🤣
except that daft punk actually managed to have success from doing it
There's a right way to sample, after all.
that Don’t Go Breaking My Heart sample tho!!!
IKR!!!
5:55 literally a boss battle track
Teachers and High Fidelity use of samples is out of this world!! It’s like they had those random records from their parents and just took whatever they found to do some kick-ass new house tunes with it. Genius.
Daft Punk’s genius lay in being able to find samples that sounded like Daft Punk
It's the other way around , the samples were the foundation
@@WARDISWARD hey you see that thing flying just above your head? It's called the joke
@@EternityMediaGroup let’s not argue, but realize that this person posted this 4 months ago… meaning even tho the era of their music is gone people still love their music.
New sample for Revolution 909
damn you really did your homework for this
Sample is a science and Daft Punk definitively have the nobel prize
Nice work man. You’re better at seeking these samples out than CZcamss copyright flagging algorithm.
I never knew the sample behind Revolution 909. It was always a mystery until now. Thank you.
The jump one?
yeah that’s one that is still heavily debated on but commonly believed now to not be a sample
edit: didn’t realize the bio takes mention of this, kudos
Well well well xD

You are so underrated! I found your channel in comment section while i was listening Hysteria II! So glad that you are still active!
Amazing sample breakdown on Indo Silver Club part 1. It's actually mind-blowing how you dissected that hook
Or is it the lead?
>mixes a sample where Billy Joel says "I would bend over"
well we see where Guy-Man contributed to the album
I love these transitions, so smooth!
best one of these kinds of videos by far! great job!
Great job for compiling and arrangeing this. DP are geniuses and so are you
Someone has done his ''Homework''. You learned from the best ''Teachers''' right? Didnt you know this is going ''Around The World'' ?
I will tell you ''One More Time'' that ''Revolution 909'' will also be found one day. That is.. if they ''Get Lucky''.
And also.. dont forget that Daft Punk is ''Human After All''. When i first discovered their ''Musique'', i had a ''Instant Crush''.
It had such a unique ''High Fidelity'' to it, that i had a ''High Life'' (without doing any drugs). It was quite the ''Discovery''
You will ''Lose Yourself To Dance'' They are creative with the samples. They are basically ''Superheroes''.
There are still negative peeps in the world who bashed their ''Aerodynamic'' sound, But they have to get ''Da Funk'' out of my face.
Yes, their tracks are ''Burnin'' the dance floors, they were far ahead in time with the ''Technologic''.
I saw them live back in the day, without helmets ''Face To Face''. I saw them doing some ''Rollin and Scratchin''. It was in ''Phoenix''.
All before ''Television Rules The Nation''. Yes my friends, i have beautifull ''Random Acces Memories''.
That was truly awesome! ''Oh Yeah''.
Next time around, it will be ''Harder, Better, Faster Stronger'' to find and hear the sample. But you have to admit, it still sounds ''Fresh''.
Maybe we might see them again in the near future. I really hope so, i would feel so ''Alive''.
MAYBE, they come up with a new album?? So that we can enjoy a new ''Digital Love''.
I would put up my party glasses during the clubbing nights, but on the other hand... i have ''Night Vision''.
Remember when they said ''Something About Us'' ? It was that the ''Music Sounds Better With You''. SO BE THERE !!!!!
However.. i feel that my comment is ''Too Long'' so i take a ''Short Circuit''.
Anyway, they are ''Doin It Right''. !!!
PEACE TO ALL !!!!

I usually watch the videos of samples for the beats Rap, but I watched this with immense pleasure. Thanks, good Job!
Amazing work thank you did not even know there was a part 1 to Indo Silver Club
This is so well made, great job. I'm amazed people even found some of these samples, they're cut up so much.
i love this video, for some reason
the way original samples just slip into daft punks tracks is so amazing
This just blew my mind! After all these years. Wish I knew all this when this album came out!
the editing on this video is absolutely amazing
Bro this is amazing! You picked up so many more sample than the others videos did. I’m surprised this video didn’t do as well!
Absolutely beautiful.
YOOOOOO the Indo Silver Pt.1 got me shook!!! I knew it sounded super familiar but it was so hard to tell over all the filters in the track, amazing vid dude!!!
My new favorite video. WHAT A TRIP
This was put together really well.
Absolutely legendary. Thanks for the video :)
Such a beautiful video. Thank you
Thank you for making this video! I had wondered where they got those samples.
Really well edited!
Honestly, I don't know if Daft's work has more merit or yours, my friend. Congratulations!!!!
This is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing! Subscribed!
really cool and inspiring work, thanks for sharing!
Fantastic work man!
Amazing way of revealing things!
This is great work. Thank you !
good work mate, greetz from Italy!
awesome work man!!
Alive is my favorite song on this album. It is no surprise to me it’s the only one not featured. Great job on this btw!❤
their sampling is divine, they don't make it blatant. it's all so subtle!
Awesome and to the point. THANK YOU!
Lovely work - thanks!

Les rois du sampling
Amazing job
holy shit this is amazing tx you
Well done man
Excellent!! Thank you
Now that they split up, the record is even more relevant. Amazing. Another thing to note, i assume the first sample (The "leathery" sounding drum lick from Daftendirekt, Da Funk, etc...) was inspired naturally by the record you mention, but i assume it was replicated by them on the Roland 909 rhythm designer which was used heavily throught the whole album.
Nice work!
Well done 🌠
thank you for all Memories , songs and beats Daft punk , Merci from a swedish fan
GENIOUS!
What an amazing video
Cool Video! Thanks for that!
This is a very great video
THANKS BRO, SPECIALLY THESE DAYS💔
Awesome video!!!!
unbelievable sampling skills
Incroyable !!!!!quel génie ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Billy Joel sample was always a very obvious one to me but I was raised on a lot of Billy Joel growing up but the rest are surprising. Thanks for making this.
And nobody believed me when I told people these guys were musical geniuses during the time Discovery came out.

Great job

Beau travail ! Daft Punk, le plus gros hold up de l'industrie musicale... Vive le sample et les machines ✌️😎🎶
Nice job !
So I guess High fidelity is the sort of Homework’s version of Discovery’s Face to Face
A musical collage genius
1:49 turns out we were wrong and its actually Fun Factory's "Celebration (Mousse T's Back to the Old School)"
