Malcolm, just wanted to say a big thankyou to your camera person (I’m guessing your wife?). In no small way does this filming style contribute to the illusion of really being part of a visit to your marvellous library.

thanks, sometimes my wife, occasionally my daughter, and, today, our kind cleaning lady, who, i think, quite enjoys filming these spells, - I'll pass on my thanks to all three!

Macdonald's "children's books" are such in the sense of Matthew 18:3 "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Of course Tolkien and Lewis echo this in both their fictional and scholarly writing, both undoubtedly showing Macdonald's influence. Macdonald reaches a part of the soul most of us suppress by sometime in our teens; reading his works throws open the shutters on rooms and corridors and sometimes even grand halls we had long since forgotten.

yes, and in fact MacDonald has a beautiful sermon on that very passage in 'Unspoken Sermons'!

My copy of "The Singing Bowl" just came in the mail yesterday. Such a beautiful hardback book that'a easy to carry. I love your two poems about both Lewis and Tolkien, and the poem "Spell." Also, I just had a conversation with a friend about George MacDonald a few days ago. He actually didn't know MacDonald was a real person; he thought MacDonald was just a fictional character that Lewis came up with for The Great Divorce. I loaned him my copy of 'The Princess and The Goblin,' and told him about Ransom's comment about the king in 'Curdie' in 'That Hideous Strength,' which he had passed over when he had read it.

Thank you, Malcolm, for sharing your library and wonderful spirit with us! I was introduced to the joy of poetry and its connection to faith through your videos and am glad to say that through that inspiration, I've begun my own journey of exploring my faith through verse. Many thanks. Also, I'd love to see a video exploring your love of pipes a bit more. It's always fun to see what another pipe enthusiast keeps on hand.
