As someone who's practiced martial arts for 40+ years and who also has a high tolerance for pain, I can tell you that pressure point attacks don't always work. You're teaching people how to get hurt, not defend themselves... If you want to learn how to defend yourself, take up some kind of self defense classes. The information presented here will most likely get you hurt!

I'm so glad I'm not the only instructor on here who thinks this is total BS, 5min crafts have such a bad reputation for stupid harmful videos with little to no basis in fact, in been teaching women's self defence for 20+ years and I cannot belive what I have just watched, one of my students sent it to me. sure their videos can be funny but so many of them are dangerous and teach the younger generation things that could result in serious harm. I've looked into trying to report the channel but I'm not very tech savvy but this channel needs to be stopped

My thought was "Uh, for those techniques to have 'a chance' of working, a LOT of training will need to happen, not just one "5 min DIY vid". Not to mention the many techniques that are easier and more effective.
I have not jumped onto the "pressure points don't work in the real world" bandwagon.
BUT, to borrow from Sesame Street; They are a "sometimes' thing. Another set of tools to have in your toolbox. When you need them, they are just the thing. Like an oil filter wrench, it only does ONE, but nothing else works.

Found this as I was browsing, I've been doing martial arts for half my life, these moves will get you hurt, if you need real self defense a CZcams video will only get you so far, find a partner, a gym or a coach, remember not all gyms are the same, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, K1 kickboxing, boxing, Krav Maga, and knockdown Karate are all really good ways to stay safe, you also meet new people and build real confidence, too many martial arts have lost what it means to effective in combat so be careful where you join. Stay safe out there people.

Also great recommendations for martial arts, too many people either get in the camp of "only do boxing ever" or "no martial arts cuz I do street rules" , while the former is at worst niave and stubborn, the latter is flat out stupid and going to get seriously hurt and they need to be educated

Coming from a combative background I can tell you these things will end up getting a woman hurt. Pressure point thinking is not a path a female should go down when dealing with a stronger more aggressive person. Whoever believes so has not really spent alot of time in real fighting situations. The worst thing anyone can also do is take a mini self defense course an be confident in their skills. Knowing how to avoid a situation in these scenarios is all fine. But the moves in general here will get you in more trouble. I recommend a good clinch program for females. Almost all attacks on women from men involve clinch in some form.

    • @guypierson5754
      @guypierson5754 Před 3 lety +3

Groin and eyes still dont work: someone in a violent situation doesn't allow themselves to be kicked in the groin, it's the easiest attack to defend, by simply adjusting your hip and knee angle, you are now kicking the persons thickest muscles and bones. As for the eyes: if you are physically dominating someone you can hold them still and damage their eyes, but if you just reach out and try to damage them while NOT in a position of control, guess what they do? That's right, they move their head. They don't even need to be trained to do this, it's a natural body response to attack on the eyes.

@Eva Dyck no they seriously wouldn't.
Any attack that has to hit a very specific target like a nerve is flawed and will be nearly impossible to pull off.
Always go for broad areas where you can do a lot of damage if you want to defend yourself physically.
Groin, eyes, neck and sides are the best places to attack. At the very least they would cause flinching.

just for your safety and as a martial arts practitioner i want to say that these "self defense techniques" will not work, it will probs get you in more danger, best way to learn self defense is to.. well... actually learn it, go to a jiu jitsu class and do it for awhile, its the best for self defense and is great for men and woman, most of the time the woman beat my ass back when i did jiu jitsu, i do muay thai now but still reccomend jiu jitsu to control the situation until cops arrive

Pressure points in most cases cause nothing more than discomfort and some people don't even feel that. The level of coordination you need in the body to generate any force to even stun someone is more than most people have so I wouldn't recommend teaching to strike per say.
What I would recommend however, is rather than trying to strike the eyes or chin, slap the ear. Cup the hand and smack it. Just about anyone can make force with a slap. The forced air in the ear will either disorient the person, or rupture the ear drum causing immediate vertigo, then you're free to run.
Rather than chin, hit the nose. It can have a similar disorienting effect.
When kicking like on your back, don't think kick, think stomp. It's an easier way to get some level of power in the motion. Hit with the heel, not the ball of the foot.
Don't bother with pressure points though. Unless you really know what you're doing it's useless, and even when you do know what you're doing chances are you're aiming for a general area with force, rather than squeezing the spot with nothing but finger strength which nearly everyone lacks the force necessary to have any effect beyond discomfort.
Remember your assailant may have adrenaline. Disable them, don't bother them. Adrenaline numbs pain. Keep it simple, and do what you know you have the coordination to do.

3:03 the rear bear hug thing also has another self defence technique! I was taught in my karate class.
Now when a person comes and hugs you from the back not letting go of your hands...hold their hand’s finger and twist them. A sudden jerk will appear in him body. You can either knee them in the groin or break their elbow by letting ur hands hit them hard in the elbow part!
    Go girls 👍🏻👯‍♀️
