    Very creative solutions. Why the crippled the MX-1 with min inputs is the Achilles heel. I get they wanted to promote their Aira products, but they missed a golden opportunity. Even today no one has capitalized on the mixer market in a compact unit with tons of stereo channels and not ports on top. New Zoom R series is close.

    Really cool. I have a lot of Roland gear, so the USB thing works well for me, but I can see how it would annoy many others. I really feel that this is such an underated mixer. If Roland perfected this in a revised version I'd be in love.

    my guy.. I've been binge watching your videos and getting inspired a ton! recently discovered MX-1 and it was just the piece of gear i was looking for in my dawless setup. thanks for all the work you've been putting in for years. I have a quick question on Torcido. I've read on forums that the USB causes a lot of noise. I want to get AIRA Demora to hook up my MicroFreak and utilize the aira usb link to plug into mx1. but im afraid about the potential noise it creates

    • @Wildb0y
      @Wildb0y  Před měsícem +1

      Hi dude, thanks for the bingeing! Good to meet you. I haven’t had any noise issues with the Toricido. I used its own power supply rather than powering it by usb from the mixer so perhaps this was an issue others had? The problem with noise is it could be to with power in their studio rather than the units themselves. I would say go for it!

    I have my monologue going to channel 1 and it only comes out of the left monitor. If it goes to 2 it only comes out of right monitor. I don’t have a Jack that goes to 2 Jack (y cable)
    How do I make channel 1 and 2 into mono channels in stead of being stereo? (& is it same with 3 & 4 as well?)

    • @h-dawg969
      @h-dawg969 Před rokem +1

      It’d be much more useful for me to have channels 1 to 4 as seperate mono channels as at the mo I can only jam with my monologue coming tjrough 1 side. I know it’s possible to do it, I just dunno how.
      I have 3 usb channel going from tr8s, tb3, JU06a, and that 5/6 input from Maschine. (Maschine sends midi out to mx1 midi in so it’s all synced, but I’m often not using Maschine recently as I’m trying to not need to use computer, it’s just ideal that it’s all in sync when I do want to include Maschine, and it doesn’t affect anything when not in use.)
      I’m pretty new to the mx1 and to Dawless jamming in general. Any info on how to change that channel 1&2 setting will be so helpful.

    • @Wildb0y
      @Wildb0y  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi There, the short answer is no, as the NT/1A needs +48V phantom power. You could get round this by powering it with a preamp before going into the mx-1. Or use the vt-3 or vt-4 vocal transformer which has +48v and a xlr input, these unit then can be connected by usb to the mx-1 saving your analogue inputs for other jobs :)

    I have the MX-1 and I'm thinking of replacing it. I have my Roland Fantom connected thru chanels 1 and 2 set up for stereo. Though I have noticed an annoying hiss thru 1 and 2...
    Have you found a way to combat this? As its irritating because the MX-1 is a nice piece of kit.

    • @Wildb0y
      @Wildb0y  Před rokem +1

      Hi Yok, have you checked the hiss is not coming from the Fantom with the same amount gain applied. His often comes if you out put from a piece of hardware is low, so check gain staging. I haven't noticed that much hiss, nothing that would be a problem in a recording.

    Very cool setup. I have a similar setup and we have a lot of the same gear. MX1, TR8S, VT3, Blackbox, Virus. Subscribing to see your tips and tricks using those.
    Tips for you - that case looks like it’s sagging from weight in the middle. When I put all my gear in my case, I reinforced the case itself first by gluing in hardboards on the bottom and top. The 3M dual lock works really well with it too.
    Also look into “Pro-pedalboarding” videos for ideas on how to cable manage those power cables and wires neatly. They use rows of 3M zip tie anchors to neatly rout wires.

    Curious if you still use the MX-1's send/returns with the Virus? I've found the return to not be a fully "wet" signal and thus not quite as useful as I'd initially hoped. I've since switched to just using the send as a way to send certain elements out to my sampler, and invested time in really digging through the MX-1's built-in master effects -- figuring out which ones are the most pleasing -- as a way to simplify the set-up. 🤷‍♂

    • @Wildb0y
      @Wildb0y  Před rokem +1

      Hi Philip, apologies for the slow response. An interesting question. At the moment I can’t test as I’m the other side the world exploring a new setup! From memory after a bit of tweaking I had it in a good place, but I know what you mean about a fully wet signal it never exactly seems the same as a proper mixing desk, what kept me with the configuration was using the reverb, I love maxing it out in fees back then mixing in a lfo that controls the patches volume to get that sucking pumping compression effect without compression.

      Hi Lloydvallentine, thanks for the question. If you mean you have got yourself multiple sets of monitors then that's more speaker selector question rather than interface. But you certainly can use the mx-1 as a audio interface but I have ended up recording its stereo out through a separate audio interface for when I record a jam as this worked for me the best due to having weird glitchy sounds/artifacts were printed on the recording when I used it as an interface. This coudl of been due to the usb hub on my computer but I have never been able to get to the bottom of it.

    I would be nice if someone managed to reverse engineer Roland's Aria Link USB protocol. I have to imagine that if we had the protocol figured out you could homebrew a box with a pair of ADCs, a microcontroller, and a USB port that did what you're doing with the Torcido for a fraction of the price and way less desktop real estate.
