      I've owned 4 wranglers and never once had a problem. Look at how many of them new and old are on the road. And when you look at the complaints that make them unreliable (actually funny to read) it's steering and noise and electrical that people are unhappy with. Yet it's a solid front axle vehicle with no sound proofing and also the most modified vehicle in the world with people putting a tone of after market lights winches and other electrical changes to. And it has the best resell of anything out there. And in today's times where every vehicle has massive part back orders and every other brand truck has hundreds of trucks stuck dead waiting on back ordered parts, every part on a jeep is available from aftermarket suppliers. No there vehicle in the world has so much part availability because of mod and upgrade options. In my opinion I feel better reliability wise driving a new wrangler or rubicon that I would a new f150 or Silverado.

      I guess as long as you’re turning over your vehicles every couple of years you should be fine. 8 years and 170k miles on my 4Runner and never been to the shop. I had similar luck with Tacos in the past. I have several friends with Jeeps and they love them but they do have way more issues long term.

    • @SamkoWorkShop
      @SamkoWorkShop  Před 9 měsíci +2

      @Ryan-rn8gk my last 3 jeeps wranglers all went over 120k miles completely trouble free. My tacoma had more issues in the first 20k miles than any of my wranglers in over 100k. My 4 runner has been flawless but only 25k miles on it of my wife driving it.

    • @SamkoWorkShop
      @SamkoWorkShop  Před 9 měsíci +1

      @Ryan-rn8gk side note, you should of took that 4 runner in for fuel filters, spark plugs, diff change, Trans fluid etc unless you are doing all that yourself. If you want that 4 runner to keep going good maintain it with that stuff or it will bite you hard. Not saying you didn't do that stuff. But if not make a point to or it will burn ya.

      @@SamkoWorkShop yeah I’ve done all of the maintenance myself. Everything you mentioned plus shocks, a battery and 1 brake job. Nothing that I wouldn’t consider normal maintenance.

    I would say DIDO, I have had Toyotas for 35 yr and I loved my 87 xtra cab, Tacoma 96 xtra cab and Tacoma 2011 crew cap they were great trucks but I really wanted the diesel in the Toyota and they would never bring it to the us market so I went out and bought a 22 eco diesel and felt sick buying a Jeep because I have just heard they are not reliable. But I have to say after 1 year of owning the gladiator I am hooked and my trust is growing with it everyday.

    In 2021 I got a 2021 Tacoma TRD Pro. I drove it for nearly 20K miles and when I traded my wife's 4Runner for a Gladiator Overland, I was impressed with the driving position compared to the Taco. So, when we returned from our cross country trip in the Overland, I traded the TRD Pro for a fully kitted out Rubicon. Now I can take the Gladiator places I would never have thought to bring the Taco (even the TRD Pro). I have been driving the Gladiators for 2 years and intend to keep it for a long time.

    • @SamkoWorkShop

      Feel 100% the same way. The tacoma is a great truck that does everything decent and works good. The gladiator is more like a full size truck with a ton more room, more capable, more comfortable, and has a fun factor that is unmatched. The people that complain about the ride etc of a gladiator are the same people that would complain about having to shift gears in a manual. Yet for the rest of us all the things they complain about make it very fun to drive. I love this gladiator. It's pure perfection for my needs and lifestyle.

    Cool video and Congrats on the Gladiator. I came from a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road to a 2021 Gladiator Rubicon same color as yours. To be honest I think the Gladiator is a much nicer truck. Both models I had were fully loaded with all options so comparing apples to apples the Jeep is better in almost every way. The Tacoma JBL to Jeep Alpine, Jeep sounds better the infotainment system on Jeep has a much better interface. The front and rear camera's much more clarity on the Jeep.
    Engine. Jeep by far. The Jeep V6 has much more torque off the line, Tacoma I had to spool the engine to the moon to get power out of it. I had an FJ before the Tacoma and the old Toyota 4.O V6 was better than their 3.5. engine. Jeep gives you an 8 speed transmission over the 6 speed Tacoma. The Tacoma was always hunting for gears (drove me nuts). Jeep like my old FJ has an actual transfer case stick easier to get into 4 Wheel drive, I was never a fan of the Tacoma knob that seemed to have a "delay" when engaging 4WD.
    The interior I think looks much better in the Jeep. The Jeep Rubicon or Mojave come with 33" tires. I put a 1.5" Leveling kit on mine and I now am running 35 x10.50's no rubbing on or off road You'd have to heavily modify a Tacoma to get 35 tires under it.
    My Tacoma came with a sun roof and I am far from an NBA Basketball player at 5'6" but I felt cramped. I rode in a friends 18' Tacoma with no sunroof and it was better since with the sun roof you loose about 2.5" of head room. Something tall people should consider if looking at Tacoma. Jeep better head room and better seating. Tacoma I felt like I was sitting on the floor.
    Jeep the top comes off. Jeep has a font locker, and with the sway bar disconnect a solid front axel which can really articulate much more than IFS. It is the prefect off road truck for hunting/camping in the back country. While both trucks have a lot of after market support, Jeep is like adult Lego's tons of stuff for it. Although it is becoming expensive :)

      I 100% agree 100% with everything you said. Given the choice again between a new tscoma trd and a jeep gladiator rubicon. I will take the gladiator every single time hands down without question for so many reasons. Tacoma is great. All trucks are great. But this gladiator is outstanding.

      The jeep pentistar v6 has 11 million on the road and proven to be a 250-300k mile motor with some even over 500k. A little research showed me the gladiator has exceptional reliability and all complaints being minor or because they modified and screwed it up.

    That's a nice truck. Looking forward to your real world reviews. How's the handling? To my eye they look like they have a huge turn radius, but that might just be my brain measuring the wheelbase compared to a Wrangler. Congratulations!

    I just bought that same model in Sarge green, I too was shocked by the ride quality and lack of road noise. I was coming out of a Grand Cherokee (2014) 4 x 4 with KO2's that were noisy as hell, the stock tires on the Gladiator are quiet as can be, and the seat comfort is actually better.

      @SamkoWorkShop  Před 10 měsíci

      @SamkoWorkShop I was getting feelings I might not get my tacoma in Oct. And had cancelled the rust proofing. The 84 month 120 000 km warranty and the 5 year tire and rim protection. All in all totaling 5 grand Canadian. I called yesterday and told them I'd take all of that. I thought that might help my chances of ensuring we get it. And yeah we only put on 10 to 13,000 km a year Max. I feel like dealers are getting crafty to make any extra buck they can. Saw a vid on you tube yesterday a younger guy had 320,000 miles! 500 and something km on his 3rd gen tacoma! And he really worked it. All reg maintenance.
