Nice work with the Z8. A lot of Nikon users frown on the 28-75 lens comparing it to the 24-70z lens in terms of sharpness. However you just demonstrated to me how good it is as a portrait zoom. Thanks.
What? That Nikon/Tamron 28-75 lens is actually sharper at the center than Z24-70, it's only the corners that are weaker.
Yes I just jumped into Photography last year with the A7IV without knowing anything ( I still don't ) but yes the reactions of people after taking a decent picture with nice depth of field is always very appreciated , which motivates me to improve .
Love this new style you tried and Elizabeth!
Reminds me of the Marylin Monroe shots on the beach :) Lovely work as always.
That Z8 and you Manny, match made in heaven. Beautiful images and not a razor sharp one among them, the feeling the images portrayed surpassed that.
Nice portraits Manny. You and a couple of other photographers have inspired me to do some work in the rain.
Chuck, this is what I have always loved about my Nikon cameras, the great weather sealing. Shoot whenever, wherever and know that your gear is going to be working through the elements. Great stuff.
I absolutely love my Z8 had three portrait shoots this weekend. I shot raw + jpg fine* and wow. Btw the jpg files especially the natural light ones, shot is standard profile vs say vivid etc and honestly I could have just sent my client those and unedited. My Z6ii will be my backup body for weddings or in situations I would rather not change a lens. The Z8 is so good. Now to maybe start learning about some easy video stuff :)
Seems like you're really enjoying that Z8. Can't wait for your review.
Great stuff Manny! Love that you are showing what Nikon gear is capable of for others to see and that you explained how switching up the focus modes made a difference in that situation. The portraits were great, love your work!
That's all about Elizabeth...)
Lovely shoot. With the cold and rainy deserted beach I was reminded strongly of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Very good. Nikon D pro and semi pro cameras have been weather sealed since D100.
loved her energy!
I really loved the pictures, but it's in part of my personal approach: I like "less produced" images, that remember reality and moments. I like the moodie a lot. Even so, I can appreciate and admire other styles. I not only follow Manny but alsoIrene Rudnyk Peter Coulson etc, and sometimes I like to go out of my comfort zone and this channel helps with inspiration. And the model is just fantastic, not only because of how well she looks in the images but also the way she adapted to the changing weather.
Beautiful work! I witnessed blown out highlights becoming a photo style by people who didn’t know how to take photos and now blurred images the next craze. Good I guess, cause it makes professional photography open up to more people without learning technique.
Lovely young lady....I've been out in the rain with my Z8 and 70-200 a few times. No problem just make sure it's dried out when you
get home. I left a fan blowing on mine for a while just to make sure, open the flip screen up as well.
Great video. excellent images and Elizabeth is wonderful.
this set of images have really strong retro vibes! Filmic and soft.
Absolutely beautiful pics they were
Photography definitely make me feel satisfied when seeing clients smile after being so nervous for a shoot! Also definitely great tip to use your best location last I always shoot warm up shots somewhere I don’t care about as much cause even experienced models got to warm up to the camera!
Nikon loves the rain ❤
nothing beats sooc nikon colors (still havent tried fuji) so far for me..
People are starting to move away from Canon now.
Many , you nailed it again. Congrats,. And Chicago is just so scenic. If you can pls shoot more in Chicago and show us this wonderful city.
Damn, the whole composition looks so beautiful!
Elizabeth is such an awesome model you lucky man.. Fab video Manny.
Ahh I love these!!
Thanks Bro for the beautiful shoot ! Was nice to see the John Hancock building in the skyline , any time I have visited Chicago I’d have lunch up on the 97 th floor ! Great shoot and the Z 8 seems to be performing great !
Well done!!! I like the shot of her lying in the sand!
The camera would be 100% fine but it's a good test for that lens as it's not all internal zoom and can push pull in moisture (!)
@Manny Ortiz, My Guy this is by far one of my favorite photo shoots you’ve done ✅. Your technique and eye for details are on point. Your photo shoots are filled with amazing informative information and detailed instructions on what to do and look for while doing a awesome job at keeping your model interested happy smiling and most importantly giving your model great guidance and inspiration. All while giving your model the inspiration to keep shooting no matter the weather conditions or whatever comes y’all way. Again thank you MY GUY for yet another amazing photo shoot and video tutorial on being a creative Professional Photographer.
Manny, awesome grading and composition!!!!!🤯🤙🏽🙏🏽
Could you make a video how to setup Z8 autofocus for portraits and what works best in few different scenarios?
yes you do not have a beach but close to it in chi town. and i was from area. the huge lake give somewhat of beach in chi-town
I love the look and images. Great experiment!
Oh these are gorgeous. I love imperfect photography.
Lovely work, she was lovely, you had a great time, you taking us on your day was great, love this video, quality as always Manny.
I’ve really enjoyed this candid photo shoot.
North Avenue Beach babyyyy as a chicagoan i love guessing where you are shotting in your videos. I always see something familiar lol the water looks so calm here would make some cool sky line shots
Great stuff, Manny! Just got my Z8 last week... can't wait to create with it!
Fantastic video Manny and Elizabeth is also amazing!
Looks like a Marylin Monroe photo shoot. first thing I thought when I saw this. Great camera, model & photographer
she should be on radio, love her voice
Is the link to Elisabeth missing in the video description? As well as the one to the PiXimperfect action? Just asking ☺️
Great photos man
Nort ave beach babyyy
Beautiful photos as always
I'm curious as to your methods for proper exposure. Do you meter, use zebras, exposure comp etc. Also do you shoot full manual or aperture priority, etc.
That’s not as important as discussing his wardrobe. You came here to learn something?
Use M, use zebras 100+ for hightlights 70 for light skin, 55 darker skin ( study zebras for skin vs highlights), use DMF peaking, or eye af, use your eyes to see EVF, review the shots as you take them, perhaps auto iso locked in a tight range say 100-3200 for A7IV or lock off at 100 for full sun, shutter speed portrait 1/320 standing still, 1/500-1000 moving, 2000 rapid. Shoot wide open f2.8-4 or faster with primes.
@@Nylonscheme Very helpful, thank you.
Great, just got a Z8 (from a Z7 II). Nothing beats your video, Manny, they’re always great. Manny, what do you think of Paul C Buff lights?
We never have to worry about acute failure of the weather seal system. What we really worry about is the repeated use, especially in weather where you get lots of deposits in the water and the ingress of salt and corrosion from the sea water.
How is the weather sealing on the 28-75? Does it feel much worse compared to for instance the S series lenses?
Lake Michigan looks different here at the top....Haha!
Good shoot though Manny!
Very useful information.. very impressive!
Elisabeth ..oh yeah cameras and stuff.
Soooo do you like the z8? How dose it fit in your line up
HI MANNY, THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS ABOUT VIDEOS SHOT WITH NEW SONY ALPHA CAMERAS CAUSING MORE EYE STRAIN. ANY SIMILAR EXPERIENCE REGARDING THIS? ALSO MANY CONTENT CREATORS USING NEW FULL FRAME SONY CAMERAS ARE GETTING PUFFY AND SWOLLEN EYES DUE TO THE EXCESS STRAIN. HOW IS YOUR EXPERIENCE?
I’d like to recommend an optech rainsleeve for you cameras.
Hi I'm a photographer and was considering a square space site. Posting images on a site would allow people to steal them wouldn't it? I guess you could just lower the resolution of the images. What do you think?
Good photoshoot ideas Manny
but z8 does not have mechanical shutter, how does it produced this character click?
it reproduces a sound
it plays a sound through the speaker
are the stills from this photoshoot uploaded anywhere?
These are great man!
great video, jared said in his video that some times the camera focus on the background, did you experience any of that?
The problems Jared has with Nikon cameras are usually Jared problems.
Nice Manny- Question- Why use a ND filter when camera has a 1/32000 SS which should enable you to shoot wide open?
You can't shoot at 1/50th as he is, when shooting at 1/32000
Great stuff Manny! These were outstanding. Will you do a video of a Nikon with the electronic shutter Z8/Z9 and HSS? I would like to see how you do that or get around the issues between the electronic shutter only and HSS.
What is the issue ? You can’t shoot HSS with z8??
@@JoelRiveraMD Hey, the issue is the the electronic shutter only can create a series of lines across anything illuminated with a flash above the native sync speed even when set correctly for HSS. I have tested my Z9 with Godox, Flashpoint, Profoto and Wescott. All had the issue. Profoto has acknowledged this in a statement. Godox and Westcott have not put a statement online that I can find, but their company have sent me emails confirming they know about it when I asked them. Nikon Professional Services told me they are aware of the issue and they can only assure that their speed lights work with HSS and the electronic shutter. I have heard Broncolor is okay but I haven't tested it.
If you notice, many CZcamsrs who shoot a ton of HSS, magically avoid it when showing how great the Z8 or Z9 are. I have yet to see several CZcamsrs who shoot HSS in almost every other video use HSS and a camera with the Nikon electronic shutter only. This video is an example along with his previous at a baseball game. Then another in studio. We have yet to see HSS like almost all the other videos which I find suspicious.
However, I saw someone the other day post a shoot with HSS and the Z8 and didn't mention banding across the subject, but they also didn't show the image close. From what I could see it looked clean though.
You can Google Nikon Z9 Banding issues and see what I mean. I was told that the fix needs to be with the lighting companies. I don't know if that is true or not. Both the Z9 and Z8 have electronic shutters only so the issue should be present in both.
As a long time Nikon shooter, I was a bit annoyed by this and the fact it seems to be hidden by influencers and Nikon. I had to repurchase a previous Nikon body with a mechanical shutter as an option for HSS after buying the Z9. Nikon says it will sync at high speeds, which is technically true, but it puts lines across the illuminated subject ruining the image. You will understand when you see posts about it. Once you see it, you realize that will ruin your image. ND filters are great too, but if you need to shoot a fast moving subject, freeze the action and use flash in a location like outside in the sun, you will likely have trouble with banding from the electronic shutter only.
Maybe someone has a fix or way around it, but what I keep seeing are videos where influencers shoot everything but HSS with the Nikon electronic shutter only cameras.
I mention this because I hope a fix comes soon. I also keep looking for a CZcamsr to shoot some solid HSS outside in bright conditions with the Z8 or Z9...so far, none have. Even Joe McNally's promo he wasn't shooting HSS because of low ambient light and at one point in a video you could see his shutter and it was not above the native sync.
Anyway, I think it will get fixed eventually but I am trying to warn other before they drop thousands of dollars to learn this.
I've seen a few complaints about banding when shooting HSS flash with the Z8 and Z9. Would love to get your thoughts.
godox don’t work well with Z9
You felt some type of way Manny when she said she never played Mortal Kombat before! 😂
just curious as a photographer. do you make money of the channel or from this work you showcase. like where does the main income come from.
@Manny do you prefer A7RV or Nikon Z8?
So the camera does fine in the rain?
Well, now I wanna see Manny Direct. can we get a short film, Manny?
The rain jacket may have a goretex to repel water or just a coat water repellent
Bro didn't know you can do natural light this well. 🔥
nice work!!
How does it compare to the D850?
Thank you Manny. Always a massive inspiration to me.
great video!
IP68?
So beautiful)
Please don't ever work with someone who never played Mortal Kombat... 🤣 These are amazing.
ISO 50 isn't the lowest 64 on the z8.
These are more artistic shots. Odd, i been doing more blur and fog too. watching Todd hiddo, Olga karlovac documentary by other recently. Z8 might be the right size. Sometimes I think the z6/7 A7 series are at tad small, but portable.
Essa mulher é linda demais ❤❤❤❤
BBC behind the scenes
Cloudy day in Chicago.
Beautiful 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️📸🌹❤️🌹📸🌹❤️🌹📸🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️
The picture is blurry!!(
On purpose.
Why did the thumbnail say, "Sorry Nikon!"? It seems like the Z8 did great, even when paired with a non-S lens.
why are you shter speed 50 to rening shoot pics sheks hmmmmmmmm
I can see 1 million subs
❤❤❤ hermosa 💖
Ha! Inspired by Julia Trotti, surely..! :D Ace.
Thats 100% wrong you cant just change the template on squarespace
The z 8 requires an Elizabeth Wheeland shoot. Wherever the line is, it needs to be crossed. Like so many Naval Aviators that get their time at Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program there are envelopes to cross. Someone had to break the z 8. The camera cannot have its Obi-Whan moment unless it is struck down. (Hopefully this is enough of a comment to satisfy the algorithm!)
Why the cheap lense ?
It's spelled lens. And it's an excellent lens.
Kızın güzelliği gerçek mi 😍 Bekârsa Türkiye'ye gelsin evlenirim onunla
Can’t believe Nikon ditched the G series, gold ring lenses to go with these generic sigma art looking lenses
How u don't consider Halo a classic ? lol good shoot btw!
Caution! I recently downloaded firmware for the Zfc from Nikon. When I hit the upload, the camera shut itself down and would not restart. Nikon support told me it would have to be sent to a service center. I mailed it, at my expense. After a week, I got an estimate for repair. Almost $ 300.00. This camera was just over one year old, purchased directly from Nikon and had less than 1,000 actuations. The camera worked perfectly until I tried to upload the firmware. Note - I own over two dozen Nikon cameras including four Z series and I am very familiar with the update procedure. Has anyone else had this problem?
For a minute, I was going to say NYC water is not that clean
