I hear you; but an entry level cinema camera is cheaper than a flagship mirrorless hybrid camera. Sony FX-3 and FX-30 are cheaper than the A1. Canon C100 and C200 are cheaper than the R5C. BlackMagic 6K Pro, let alone the 4K, is cheaper than all flagship mirrorless hybrids. Everything is relative.

@@virgilhawkins5680 you are right but let’s be real here, an entry level Cinema cameras is not Cinema camera, unless is a RED KOMODO of course 😅

You can honestly get an incredible cinema camera for cheaper than a lot of flagship mirrorless cameras. Blackmagic’s Pocket series is insane and Lumix cameras are as close to being cinema without the name, they have a ton of the same features. It’s really just all about whatever fits your workflow. Cinema cameras aren’t “better” than mirrorless hybrid and vice versa.

@@JuanCastro-dx1jk Look at comparisons between the BMPCCs and any RED camera, especially the komodo. There's practically no difference. I'd say the Fx3 & Fx30 would compete against the Komodo as well. The BMPCC 6k punches well above it's weight.
I've used everything but an Arri and I've been able to get the same quality of shots out of all of them "entry level" or not.

Literally EVERY SINGLE reason you listed is exactly why I love my c70's over any of my hybrid cams! 1 HUGE reason you left off tho, are the exposure tools that you get with cinema cameras that the hybrid cameras just don't have! Waveform, false color, zebras, etc! Those are invaluable, and I hate that I lose these every time I grab my R7!

@@user-gj5cx9ik5m you're right! That's definitely one huge plus to those cameras. I actually shot on Panasonic early on, but the more I used them, the more I hated the color science, so I switched to Blackmagic, and then ultimately where I am no, in the Canon ecosystem. Thats what I learned on, and that's what we have always used for the photography side of our business, so it only made sense.

The first thing I notice about this type of video is that they are made by people who have earn a lot of money which grow and can afford real Cinema Cameras. That is the issue that this people does not think about. Canon has a separate line of mirrorless and Cinema Cameras is because the advantage you said in this video. It was not until 4 years ago that Canon introduced more video features in their stills oriented cameras. You forget one point and this is the body of the cameras. All this discussions about overheating comes from the fact that mirrorless are based on photo cameras form factor that has problem decipating heat which a Cinema camera does not have. What we need is low cost Cinema cameras. Something that only Blackmagic is providing and Canon is not providing. So people buy mirrorless due to the cost of equipment.

Some good points you touched upon there about the NDs and cinema dynamic range. I’ve mostly been using cinema cameras (RED Helium, Scarlett included) and I’m invited to teach beginner workshops on mirrorless, but as owner-operator started out with the original Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K, then Pocket 4K and now recently got URSA Mini Pro 12K and it’s A LOT of camera for the money, so much so that it got me re evaluating my needs as a filmmaker in a good way. I found myself renting G2 4.6 so much and fell in love with the way it’s designed and the image of that type of camera so I got the 12K. So when going back to mirrorless when I’m teaching workshops it gets me every time - “wow, it’s good I went the cinema route!" but then I get that some people are hybrid shooters, I prefer to use stills cameras for stills and cinema for filming 😊

How do you use 36fps and have the artists' lips in sync during slow-mo? How does that work exactly? Do you slow down the music on set while filming? Is it all done in post? The slow motion sync effect is done by increasing the speed of the song to 150% and having the artist perform it at that speed while filming at 36fps. If got conform the clip in post to 24fps everything will be in sync. You can do it at other frame rates as well it just requires you to adjust the speed of the song.

Hi mate, great video, but the C70 is in fact a "mirrorless cinema camera". That's it, a "cinema camera" but still a "mirrorless". In case that is something bad, that I don't think so :)

I have came from a Canon 5D Mark ii about a year ago and upgraded into the cinema line of black magic 4K even though it’s my first cam in this line I love the difference I was going to get the 6K at first but didn’t see anything separating the two except 4K 6K and that’s only a tad bit better this before the pro came out.

Blue led burn was enough to make me switch. mirrorless cameras are garbage and make those cheap blue led lights look so much worse. dumped the mirrorless, and copped a bmpcc6k to b cam to the komodo

Not so much of him not being a fan of the Z9 but more of the first time him using the Z9 on a video shoot. As he said the day didn't go as plan, it was a fail. I was hoping to see him do more videos on the Z9. I know he liked the Z9 a lot, I was just referring to the first video he did on the Z9.

I need Canon to drop a new Full Frame cinema camera to rival the FX6. I really don’t want to leave Canon, but the lack of innovation is making it harder to stay.

Don't laugh bro. But I'm still rocking my T7i...i know..I know.. but I've got some good canon glass that i don't wanna get rid of. Canon in my opinion, is still crippling their cameras. I want to upgrade, but they haven't quite made the right camera yet.

I'm far more of a photographer than videographer and far prefer a dslr because I look through the lens and not a screen. If I want to do video then I will use a video dedicated cinema camera.
