It's hard to believe I've seen the beginning and end of hydraulically launched coasters. Hope I live long enough to see a superconductor magnetic levitating coaster😮

I really don’t think the swing launch is necessary, I’m sure they can make a new launch powerful enough to make it over the top hat.
I’m hopeful that not every single one of these will copy TT2 with the swing launch and spike, I’d rather that be a one time thing.
Maybe. But a swing launch would also be much more energy efficient, and ironically in the extremely unlikely event of an anti-rollback brake failure (not unlike what just happened with an S&S hydraulic launch coaster in one of the Happy Valley parks), make the odds of a train rolling back and crashing into the other train in the station practically nonexistent.
Maybe air powered well get better. The biggest factor in day to day down time is actually the brake fins. Different designs that don't require so many brake fins so close to the launch would also help with down time a lot.

That is an awesome concept. The swing launch maybe could happen although I don't see the layout getting extended beyond that. By the video it looks like it would eliminate the warehouse that's holds haunt mazes. But before anything happens with xcelerator Knotts needs to figure out the mess with Montezooma.
I operate this ride every Saturday it’s an absolute maintenance nightmare 💀

You did a great job with the recreation of Xcelerator. However, I think that in order for the spike to be added. It would mean having to remove Supreme Scream, because of they look too close to each other in the video. Sometime sacrifices must be made to make thing better. Hey, maybe Knott's could bring back the Parachute ride that was with the Sky Cabin. I used to talk with the employees about adding another layer of track, add another train and a have race against each other, renaming the coaster Xcelerator Drag Racers. That would take care of the 2-hour lines that people don't want to deal with, especially during the summer. It's time for Knott's bring a new Racing roller coaster to the park, it would be their 4th one in that area and would keep the Racing spirit alive. RIP Soap Box Racers and Windjammer Surf Racers.
Great ideas, would be really cool to see this! I love the launch they have now though, one of the best there is. But I’d rather keep the coaster than it die off which seems like would happen sooner than later.
While I would love to agree with you on this one, I think that Knott’s will keep the launch as is. Let’s keep in mind that this is a THEME park which I believe gives it some charm not found at say Dorney or Cedar Point. Xcelerator is quintessentially Knott’s; a little bit weird, but everyone seems to like it. All everyone talks about is the launch, so why change it? I get it’s a maintenance headache, but it looks to be worth it.

What surprises me is that the hydraulic coasters in the US seem to be struggling. But here in the UK, Stealth and Rita seem to be behaving themselves and running very well.
This is a prototype. The first and thus the oldest hydraulic launch. Probably that’s why it has more problems
Kingda ka at six flags is also reliable only cedar fair is having problems with hydraulic launch coasters

A swing launch is not necessary for Xcelrator because it's a smaller scale that Top Thrill 2.
I'm wondering if a compressed air launch could work here.
I wonder how many parts of dragsters launch motor are now in Xcelerator? I agree this isn't going to be around more than 5 years or so. If top thrill 2 is successful it will be interesting to see if this or Kingda Ka goes first. Where as Kingda Ka can get away with just adding a spike, I think in Xcelerator's case they have to make other layout modifications or it wouldn't seem to be a very big deal. Love the concept especially if it goes to Intimin or Verkoma.
Way before u even made this video, I remembered seeing this concept and I was actually very impressed with not only the elements that nl2 chose, but this looking like a pretty realistic possibility if cedar fair/six flags would spend the money on it.

Here’s my problem with this theory though. Yeah I get it’s constantly down. Yeah i see the problems. But what’s another launch coaster that’s down at knotts right now? Montezooma. And until montezoomas situation is sorted, that either being a replacement or a new company finishing the refurb, I don’t see xcelerator going anywhere at this point.

O 'Wonderland Eurasia', que ja foi conhecido como 'Ankapark' , era um parque de diversões em Ancara na Turquia, ele foi Inaugurado em 2019, o parque contava com 17 montanhas-russas. O park foi fechado permanentemente em fevereiro de 2020, mas as montanha-russa e outras atrações ainda estam montadas no local
Great video! It seems obvious that the majority of money was spent developing Xcellerator's launch. This ride is so short and sadly never moved outside of its rectangular footprint. I don't know why they never put some bunny hills up and down the Boardwalk, with a grand finale helix around the sky cabin, other than the added cost of doing so. If Knott's and Six Flags Cedar Fair were to spend the money to do this one right, they could honestly market it as a brand new mega coaster.
Back when the Dragster reimagining was announced, I thought it would be cool if Xcelerator could be moved to Cedar Point and launched toward the front of the park with the end brake run replaced with LSMs that would launch toward the Dragster top hat. Obviously, that didn't happen, but my hopes are once again lifted as Kingda Ka is now in the mix.I thought RailBlazer would be a suitable replacement at Knott's, but that was when Montazooma was supposed to reopen with an lsm launch.

I wouldn't mind seeing an extended layout, but I'm not thrilled with swing launches in general so the spike can go. I'd rather see a secondary launch to punch the train through the rest of an extended layout and for that layout to interact with Supreme Scream somehow. Imagine being on Supreme Scream and having a train roar by/near you while you are waiting to drop.
The ride is back to operation, I heard some stuff was upgraded to help with its issue. Currently they probably won't do anything unless it has another major break.
But in the long run, Knott's would probably be better off replacing Xcelerator with a Vekoma multi-launch. That plot is beyond cramped, and adding an inversion to the current layout would likely require replacing one of the turns with a cutback. A zero-g roll isn't feasible at 70 mph - there isn't space for a Mosasaurus roll and a turnaround. But a Vekoma LSM coaster sized between Energylandia's Formula and Abyssus would fit in well at the park. It'd also be more thrilling than its primary competition, DCA's Incredicoaster, at under half the length. If Montezooma isn't reopening, I'd expect Knott's to replace it with a Zamperla Double Heart. That would make Xcelerator redundant, so it would close for good within 5 years. Would be awesome if Magic Mountain replaces Superman: EFK with a 500 foot tall multi-pass version of Xcelerator, though!

I think if there was to be a spike. They should use the drop tower as the spike. But make the spike have like a vertical airtime hill😂
If TT2 goes good, this project will move up the list with zamperla doing it.

They would have to reroute the train and also move the scary farm maze over in that area. Didn’t see the train in the concept video
this and they cant reroute the railroad it already dosnt like how tight the turns on the track are, and as much as everyone here likes coasters the railroad is one of the few things that isnt going any were.

Personally I don’t care for swing launches. It doesn’t add anything if anything it takes away from the ride. I would rather they put LSMs up the hill since I think Intamin can do this.
They could also do the same with superman escape from krypton
I feel like Cedar Fair/Six Flags are waiting to see how successful Top Thrill 2 is in the first season or 2 before they make a decision on Xcelerator. I feel like the soonest any renovation could happen on Xcelerator would be in 2026.
That would be nice but now that it does have a new launch for it maybe down the road in 2025 they just might do it Brandon. Also once they merge they could get a brand new Company to build the Montazoomas Revenge and scrap the old one because its now rusted and falling apart.

After seeing how cheap they went with TT2 when they could have made it SO MUCH more awesome and refused to add to the layout besides the swing launch. They wont add anything other than the LSM's.
The merger isn’t happening until next year so I don’t see any drastic changes until then

um, if they do this, they would have to get rid of the stage coach ride. That's their original ride. or the train... imagine no more robberies.
I don’t think they would change the ride yet because knotts just replaced the whole launch win in the 2 years it’s been closed. But I bet this would happen in about 10 years if it’s still unreliable
It is possible to do an LSM launch without it being multi launch if they wanted too. Swing launches are becoming boring already imo. Makes launches less intense then a single launch and cripples capacity for a lot of rides. Gesturer have the most intense LSM launches in the world. Im sure they can retrofit the track and trains with fins if needed

At most the will change over to LSM and add a basic vertical spike. Swing and a miss with TTF prediction. I dont understand the insane amount of additions to these rides cause its not happening.

They will never build that model. I say this because they can’t even get a permit to build, the ride they been fighting for years to build.
Those people that live over in Buena Park would fight to death to keep that from happening lol. The main complaint is going to be the sky line then the noise cause now the ride is longer.
I think it’s a good idea but they going to have a lot of resistance trying to upgrade that ride.

That plot of land has SO much wasted space. Xcelerator always should have been much longer. It’s borderline criminal that it isn’t. I’d love to see something done with it. I always thought it should come out of that footprint and do a turn around the Sky Cabin tower. While I rather have the parachutes back, this would have been an acceptable replacement for me, while the games are not. I absolutely hate the games there.
But yeah, the days of Xcelerator’s current launch are numbered. Parts will be even more difficult to come by in the future. Something must be done. Either this (or similar) concept, else the ride will have to be replaced with something else completely. (New soapbox racers???? Most everyone seems to want them back.) 🤔
Please dont add a spike to Every coaster in the world. They suck. Its a huge disappointment that TTD was plagued by it. We dont need another.
