You are the very first person to explain step-by-step
This is the video I needed. Most videos I've watched the person just says "Press the bearing in" without any specification of "use a press bearing that ONLY fits the outer race" as well as "use a press bearing that ONLY fits the inner race" that is precisely what I needed to know. Thank you.
Hi, Spencer's Garage, I just came across your video in search of doing my own wheel bearing replacement myself. Your video is one of the best out there I have seen. You explained everything in detail step by step. Thank you for taking the time to post and share your video. Great job.
Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I am glad for your guidance on mistakes. I make them all the time. You saved me from making the same ones!
I don't know why, but 19:30 - 19:42 cracked me up. Haha. I'm doing all my front ball joints and wheel bearings, and this video helped a lot. I'm very thankful that my outer races both came out with everything else. I was terrified of dealing with that. Haha. Thanks!
Thank you for this clip!
I wish i’d seen it before leaving my car only with 3 wheels in the garage…..
thanks for the complete clip with all the messups!
Super detailed with every step so helpful thank you i would be attempting this soon
Those pliers would have been super handy when I did the front bearings on our 13 Escape. I used a combo of screwdrivers and small pry bar to work it around and out. Installing it I used one of the adapters in the bearing tool rental kit. Those pliers were so fast!
Great video, easy to follow and done with easily obtainable tools!
Agreed. Ive done 10+ Civic bearing jobs with this tool with no problem. I think an important factor is that I used clean high-pressure wheel bearing grease on the main screw threads, as well as between any surface that turns with friction, such as the screw and the face of the cups or washers.
Great video, great explanation, keep going brother like that helping a lot people out there 👍 😀 👏 😄
Thx man... you helped me out a lot with this!!!!
After seeing the difficulties you experienced while trying to remove the outer race I think I'll just put the hub back on and get a shop to do the job. My civic is "only" 20 years old but it lived all its life in the Salt Belt. It was already unbelievably difficult to remove the lower ball joint and I only realized it should have a dust shield after watching a few videos, because it's so rusted you can't even see where it used to be.
Wow amazing Video! You’re very talented and well explained video. 🙏👏🏻 Thank You!
Awesome stuff, Spencer. Subbed!
thank you good buddy you explain it perfectly!
Thank you SR..😮 😃 great explanation
Great video! Well done!!
Timken is definitely the best when it comes to replacing Honda wheel bearings
Do you know the part #? Or where to buy this for 1999 civic
Thanks for your sharing knowledge!
@15:20 I ran into the same problem. I grabbed a hammer and an adapter that fit the inner race and just went for it until it was just the outer race stuck in the knuckle. There’s a lip sticks out in the middle of the bearing and I got the right sized adapter for that and kept hammering. Pb blaster helps too and once it starts sinking, add more adapters on top until you’re close. After that, I used the tool as intended to get the rest of it out and I was able to get the whole thing out of the knuckle.
This video helped me out a lot thank you
Glad to help!
This video helped me a lot brother. Definitely subscribing 💪🙏
Thanks for the sub!
Very well explained.Thank you .
appreciate ya, ft.worth,TX
I had same issue w the same wheel bearing puller with the outer race of the bearing.
Nice snap ring pliers. I have some harbor freight ones they worked alright
Ahhhhhhhhhhh finally man thank you
So the only way to take out the outer race is jack hammer?! Tnx for video
Great video
Nice job bro.
Thanks 👍🏼
I coincidentally have that same hub waiting to be put on lol
You're amazing
Good video. Good to see the mistakes as well. As for removing the bearing, do you think using the impact wrench contributed to the bearing getting destroyed on its way out? Had you continued to use hand tools, do you think you would've "felt" something off? Thanks!
In my experience using power tools wouldn't have made a difference it just makes the job easier
There is no way he could have removed the outer race using the tools at hand.
I don't know how you did this man but job well done I bought it and I could not get my bearing in it would just not go in I gave it to Mavis the thing kept Titan it just kept loosening
Glad I decided my wheel bearings were fine on my 97 civic. 😅 I already have enough work to do.. Also this car has clearly never seen snow or salt. mustbenice
Thinking that you don’t live in the rust belt!!!! So lucky are you
Thank you!
I ran into the same problem today where the outer race was the only thing left inside of the knuckle… now I’m screwed. Gonna need some help from your dad now lol
THANK YOU
Great job, but you should have changed the lower balljoint with a honda one ( after market doesent take too long like for me 3 months and started making noise) also since it will be the same work taking the knuckle out the car.
I actually refreshed the entire suspension two years ago with Honda OEM and Hardrace parts.
My putter race is stuck and both inner races came out with the hub, what tool can I use to get the putter race out?
I ran into that difficulty as well. I explain how I removed the outer race in the video.
What size is the bolt
Is it dangerous to re-use the front old hub? People recommend using a new one. Mine is free rust and 154 K miles only.
you may have found your answer already, but in case others are wondering the same question, reusing the hubs is completely safe as long as you are able to remove the wheel bearing without scoring the hub. you do not want to reuse wheel bearings if the hub is removed once before, this could lead to premature failure.
I just pressed my bearing and now the inner bearing wobbles. Do you know if this is normal or not?
Yes. The inner race may have about 1-2mm of movement. Excessive movement will mean the bearing is damaged though.
@@spencersgarage does it matter which way bearing is facing? I have a non abs if that helps and only one side has the black facing.
What happend to the shields lol
You coulda used a cold steel chisel and hammer to get the rest of that stuck race out.
The cover protect the brake padsand disk from dirt
Not channel locks but snap ring pliers
put in freezer it easy ?
2:40 Ah, the outside inner race.
20:56 bruh i pushed the hub using the spindle, no wonder it fucked up the bearing immediately 😭😭😭
Amazon it was $64 us i think buy for Ford Transit connect 2011
4:32 Giggity
Te falto poner la lámina
Cara muito maneiro!! Mas.. não entendi nada . Kkkkkk
sure you did, you left off the dusk shield.
You never mentioned packing the bearings with grease in your video.
They are closed bearings. No need.
Most wheel bearing are closed sealed so no need to pack grease into the bearings
