Egg Inc 🍻🍻
this man has always made me love him but now that i'm seeing him play egg inc on a $1700 top of the line dedicated music nugget he has won me over completely
i spent too much time on that damn game man ;-;
We need him playing the Crazy Bus theme song on that player, with the most extreme vintage headphones he can find.
It just has to happen.
Literally thought about that, reminded me of my brother because he got me to play egg inc lol
I tried that game for about 10 minutes, then got bored of it
if i were here a moment before you, i would have said the same.
Came for the dank, stayed for the Frank!
1:30 The Fiio M17 looks like a portable hard drive from from the side.
But with a catch...
It has DAP features
I ruined the like number.
I stumbled upon this channel two years ago through searching CZcams for DAP reviews. I thought seeing someone mod 4tb iPods was both amazing and hilarious. So seeing Dank reviewing DAPs gets me hyped. More of these please.
It's only been a few months but I don't even remember how I stumbled across his videos, all I know is that they are HILARIOUS

Yep, hearing scarlet fire blasting at ungodly volumes while you can hear an Aussie laughing like a maniac in the background is both hilarious and kinda frightening....

"Man, the arpegiated synths in the verse? It is so STINKY."
That has gotta be the most DankPods sentence I've ever heard this man say. XD
Great job, man. Keep up the good work!
If I ever wanted to bludgeon someone whilst listening to the highest quality music possible, I think I have the music player of choice right here.
If anyone were ever to write a book "Self-defense for audiophiles" this would be on the cover.
With the battery and multiple jacks, especially with the power that comes out of these Bois, someone can probably 3D print a taser attachment
Going all "A Clockwork Orange", huh? Lol

@@Jacob-gq7id oh rlly!? (Gets ideas to give my wife a heart attack with the money I'm about to spend)
I have never thought I might want that combination of activities, but now it's all I want.
I'm a PC technician and personally I get annoyed with the modern obsession of making everything thinner. I actively seek out laptops people would call "chonk" as opposed to the modern mac because they're so much easier to take apart- and with everything in this device being modular? if something DID happen and It was sent to a professional, said professional would be able to MUCH more easily make repairs- thin is hard to take apart and more fragile- this is an absolute beast that will pass the test of time- love this nugget!
Look up Framework laptops
Something similar can be said about cars. Changing a light used to be so simple, now you often have pretty much no room to do anything or you literally have to bring it to the mechanic.
They need to be thin up into a point and then they get to be too thin after that.
Same here, used to love me a CHONK HP Elitebook, but now HP be following the trend and my most recent laptop from them a frail, disappointing thin boi. Looking into trying one of those Framework laptops like @Michale Multarzyński is suggesting as they are pretty cool looking.
Personally still use an Alienware 14, i love the size and weight, makes it feel quality and i can switch alot of internals, even the cpu
My favorite part of these videos is always the sound comparison on the ear stand. Even though I don't have any high end audio equipment, it's pretty evident which audio is superior when I'm listening from in my car - the absolute quality of the sound space from the AKG recording almost makes the Sennheiser sound *flat*, which is insane because of how the sennheisers themselves dominate comparisons against the budget/consumer stuff in your other videos. I could probably watch a whole video of just direct audio comparisons on the ear stand
I think I have Stockholm syndrome for the demo music he plays now
I own 3 grado headphones pair and I have to say that his setup doesnt do them justice though. When he soubd test them on the ears the high ends are like a screeching sound but when you wear them its, as he said, sparkly
@@magusperde365 well, as he said, the music will sound more like your device speaker more than anything else.
Being honest it’s a very silly thing. Like he says they are not good representations. Here’s an example. You’re a photographer and you need a monitor that is colour matched to real life to edit your photos. Instead of going to a store, you watch CZcams videos on your phone of someone pointing a camera at different videos. That would be stupid, right?
The camera changes the monitor’s colour, CZcams messes with it, your phone screen messes with it and you can no longer compare how accurate the monitors recreate colour. The same goes here, they’re fun parts of the video but you just shouldn’t think anything about it.
im so used to the scooped mids i personally like that sound better. ive never liked the sennheisers mids. the ride on the comparison track is too intrusive.
for reference i use a fisher stack and 2 floor speakers from the 80s that i got from dad. sounds amazing after i changed the cracked speakers :)
Earlier tonight I was listening to George Benson's Affirmation live version on my boss's Tidal to see how it sounded on his PA speakers, and I let it start one of those pseudo radio stations where it plays stuff it thinks you'd like based on the song you start with, and no joke, within like 8 songs it had played both Walk Through the Park and Scarlet Fire as well, without ever listening to them on Tidal before. You're influencing the algorithms, mate!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that this man has Egg Inc. installed on the 2000 dollar Fiio powerhouse?!? Lol.
Egg Inc can lag alot
So he got this for it
OMG yes! Fucking lost it at that moment. Absolute mad lad
Absolute chad
Yes lol
Ditto. Wonder how many soul eggs he's got. >w>
Smartphones: "how many cameras do you want?", "yes"
DAPs: "how many headphone jacks do you want?", "yes"
If only we could get some of those headphone jacks on the budget daps. I’d love something with a balanced output for less than 300 eagles
I hate that, put a headphone jack with decent DAC and take away the unnecessary gimmicks like extra cameras and LiDAR sensor that never use.
Both, both is good.
I want all the cameras AND all the headphone jacks. To paint an unrealistic picture, I want a box that'll capture and recreate the world as though, no, better than if I was there in person. 8k video capture and playback, studio-grade recording and playback of FLACs through the k340s without a lick of hiss or hum, a studio in yer pocket if ya will
I'm not an audiophile, but the wireless Dualshock 4 controller being able to pass audio from the ps4 to my decent quality headset to hear the elden ring audio was an experience I didn't know I needed.
I could relate to your joy of the Miio M17 being so convenient, even though there's really no comparison.

I legit thought he was gonna hook up the stax that would have blown my mind
That's sadly not possible, the staxs don't have a aux cord. It's weird
He choud try to wire up the stax werd cord end to a ox cord or if the stax have removeable cables (I don’t think they do) he choud try to make a custom cable but most likely none of this is possible but it whod be really funny to se a stax end to ox dongle
@miles Scanlan yeah, I doubt, he mod them to have an aux out, since they hella old. And I doubt that they could be dongled to an aux, since they literally need to be plumbed into the wall
I love that the Fiio made the earbuds sound good even though they were pushing the limits of the buds when they were connected to it, just goes to show how good the m17 is! what a wonderful nugget!
Right? Through the diablos, they got the tinny, grindy "I can't handle this output" buzz while they still sounded perfectly cromulent through the Fiio.
You'd very rapidly get hearing loss, but it'd sound great until then!
@Marauder I've always preferred Bad Guy Good Audios ear than Crin, he likes a much more neutral headphone though. Bad guys loser to the harmen target which modern music is mastered for so it really depends

“Yup, one of 'em died!”
It amazes me that even the dirty buds getting destroyed by the Fiio just sound better compared to the Diablo.
I gues you could unintentionally blow out both your headphones and your ears with this by gradually increasing the volume, as they would sound like nothing's wrong until they just stop working.
I love FiiOs stuff. Their BTR series was a game changer for my lower budget audio experience. The portability and versatility of them is crazy. I plug it in as a UBS DAC, meanwhile it's connected via bluetooth so once I have to go I just unplug the FiiO nugget and am on my way to where ever. Also very cool that my BTR3K had a clip case included so I can just clip it to my pants or bag or anything really so I don't need to feel *the bulge* in my pockets. Can't wait to expand my equipment. Thanks for introducing me to this neat hobby.
I'm so glad Dank warns his little nuggets before hooking them into the death machine, it makes their sacrifice more humane
I'm only watching this through a budget television I have in my bedroom right now, but the difference between HD600s and the K340s was still *alarmingly* apparent. Like holy crap did the sound suddenly open up like I just pulled cotton wool out of my ears.
Dude same, I was watching out of my phone speakers at the breakfast table and I was blown away.
Same here! I’m watching this out of a TV, through the built in speakers, and yet the difference is crystal clear. I never expected to hear the HD600s pale in comparison to anything just through my TV speakers.
That's the genius thing about the comparative samples. Yes, there's no point in recording a set of speakers to show people how they sound, because it will just sound like the speakers playing the sample. But by including another sample of a different set of speakers, you can show the differences and give people a better idea of which set they like more. I'm really glad to see audio reviews include the comparisons now.
@@dominateeye Plus we've had like a hundred other DankPods videos to build up familiarity with the Huh-duhs. Hearing them's like speaking with a good friend.
Its just because the k340s have absurdly boosted treble. It may sound decent on that specific song but on others it will be earrape.
Man, it's like you read my bloody thoughts - when you were talking about how powerful it was to comfortably push through 600 ohm headphones, my immediate thought was "I wonder how it compares to the Diablo in terms of amplifying sound?"
Spooky, but also entertaining as hell! This makes me wonder if there are smartphones that are close to specializing as DAPs, since I often find that most of what I use it for is internet, mobile gaming, and music, if not exclusively.
The LG V series are the only ones getting a bit closer to these dedicated DAPs. Even then, they're still no match for something like iBasso DX300, Hiby R5, etc
@@scarletvan4749 Hello, can I ask, do you think buying decent DAP (Sp2000, FiooM17…) is better than buying these DAC? (In Terms of soundqualilty)?

I’ve been watching since the iPod mod days and because of you, I did my first battery replacement on an iPod classic! Looks hard, but those videos helped a ton. Thanks danks!

dankman is such a charismatic salesman that one of these days he's gonna make me drop a cool $5k on the fancy equipment just to listen to my 320kps mp3s in ~style~
That would be obtuse. Drop the money for a dap and replace mp3s with FLAC at the very least or it will be pointless.
@@marsoblivi0n945 What kind of equipment do you need to hear the difference between 320kbps and FLAC?
@@wyw201 a magic wand
Same! And I’m not an audiophile
@@wyw201 very very VERY high end, like reference grade headphones plus a DAP such as this, and the ears of a newborn baby. I know my hearing is too damaged at this point. Maybe some EXTREMELY technical music might make the difference more noticeable, but by and large people can't tell between lossless and modern 320kbps.
The only feature Fiio neglected to put on this nugget is an onboard Sexy Bluetooth Voice for voice prompts and reading cozy bedtime stories.
7:40 I absolutely agree on the AKG k340's being something else and special to this day. Got mine for 90€ and after over a year of owning them, my final setup has them hooked up to a full-blown speaker amp. Forget portable DAPs if you want to run them cheap: mod the cable to balanced, hook them to a full-size amp and hear them light up! Yes they are still bass-light, but the lows that are there are astonishingly clean, well separated and that's to say nothing of the legendary highs.
