It's almost embarrassing how in love with this phone I am. Absolutely love it. Camera hits, battery life hits, software and multitasking hits...could care less about wireless charging when I have 67 watt charging and great battery life.

@@makdrumz fair enough. I just don't have a need for it the way everyone else does. Maybe to charge my buds? But that aside? Not for me. ESPECIALLY if the time comes where I need a quick top up before going out? Not gonna rely on wireless charging for that.

@@varuna6089 as long as you don't need a big screen to do your tablet activities, you will love this phone. You have to remember that the inner screen is only 7 in, as long as that's big enough to do everything you want to do then this is the phone and just save some money with only having one device that does it all.
Love the speakers on this phone. In addition to fast charging the battery life is also the best I've had on a phone yet, 8-8.5 hours a day so far using mostly the inner display with 2-3 apps side by side.
No doubt when I'm in the shower listening to podcasts ECT. No Bluetooth speaker needed. Just turn it up and cam hear it all. Was super surprised how loud this phone is.
I've had mine for a couple of weeks now, certainly the best phone I've ever owned, I had a Pixel Fold before, and S23 Ultra before that. I'm more pleased with the photos coming out of the OnePlus, and great results from the telephoto.
Would you buy Galaxy S24 1TB/2TB or OnePlus Open 512GB?
@@steffdia7080 For me, the OnePlus open, 512 is large enough for me. Also, I wouldn't go back to a candy bar phone again now I'm used to a foldable.
Just like an earlier commenter, I've watched this video on my OnePlus Open, and with having received the OnePlus Open, TODAY! I absolutely LOVE my OPO!! There's just NO phone like it in its class. It's my first folding phone but my Wife has the Samsung Fold 4 and it was mediocre for me after coming from the iPhone (2007 OG here). Traded that in for my Samsung s23 Ultra and I fell in love with it. Fast forward to 4 months later, I was going to trade it in for the Fold 5 but there weren't any differences and it went back to being mediocre and I'm so glad I waited! Fast forward to last month (October), and I'm here and doing research and watching reviews and the more and more I watched, the more impressed I became. How can I not? The screen size isn't compromised, the brightness is awesome, the UI and performance just hits the sweet spot, and the thinness of the OPO blew my mind and not that I physically have one, it BLOWS (present tense), my mind! I could care less about not having wireless charging and the H2O resistance rating isn't a big deal as well. I've got the GoPro for that kind of vlogging anyway.

I'm also watching this on my one plus open emerald dusk. This phone is an amazing foldable which for me blows my fold 4 totally out the water. I thought 25w charging was fairly fast but 67w ??? Just wow. This inside screen looks like a pc monitor when watching 4k vids. To say I'm pleased is a massive understatement easily best device I've ever owned 😀

I think OnePlus had been understand for a long long time the phone is amazing I'm using a op7 pro as my daily phone has aged amazingly

Ive had all the major foldables...returned them all within s couple days. This is the only one that ive kopt snd love to use. The front screen is amazing, just like a regular slab. The weigh of it is like s slab phone ..then you can open it up.

Great review.! I'm curious to know if the pictures you took was after the update that corrected some of color grading with hasselblad. Also I'm torn between this phone and the 15 pro max. My friend shot a video in Italy 🇮🇹 with the 15 pro max and looks pro grade. So videos and pictures are key. But love android iOS not so much.
I've been enjoying the Oneplus Open for about 3 weeks now and I wouldn't trade it for any other phone out there right now. The multitasking and smoothness are killer. I don't use wireless charging as it is slower and less dependable than wired charging. I also don't intend to take the open swimming so I am good. Having a minimal crease on the inner display was the biggest selling point for me, at first. The crease is almost non-existent when compare to the pixel Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The interesting part is that the camera even has a magic eraser, that works well, like the Pixel cameras. This is the first phone that I will be keeping for a year, at least. I might go for the Oneplus Open 2 if Oneplus puts it out and there are some big upgrades, otherwise this phone is as close to perfect you can get.
Due to some financial crisis. I couldn't afford this at the moment right now but soon I will be on it along with my S23 ultra.🔥🔥
Tips for OnePlus users:
1- Set screen size to small. It will make apps look great on both screens.
2- change font to one sans. It looks great unlike the bold look of the default font.

Spot on! The only thing I wish for is better 3rd party launcher support (Nova) for open canvas
Maybe I do not need, or know what to expect from "canvas" but I am using Nova Prime on mine and it works exactly the way I want/need.

I love this phone, but my two big annoyances are that huge camera bump. A lot of wasted space with that thing. The low light photography needs a software upgrade, as its processing is kind of lacking. Wireless charging is merely a convenience.
Yeah for some reason the telephoto barely triggers at night despite having the camera muscle to do so, not to mention the 2x lossless zoom from the main camera goes bye-bye at night. Kind of a shame.
OnePlus is just so good this days, hope they will keep it going :)
I wanted the one plus open. But I already have a fold 5. It seems Better in my opinion but I will wait to see the next version of each foldable. I don't care for s pen, I just love CZcams, camera, gaming, and music. One plus actually looks like a camera and I feel with that big module they have on the back should truly be better than most cameras . Actually It has to blow away the z fold 5. if the fold 5 fails I'll buy this asap
phone screen has a blue tint is that just the video how it comes across or is that the phone screen whites don't look pure white
I switched from Zfold4 and I love it. Love the design with the round camera bump. Zfold has a narrow cover screen, this one is much better. Love the battery, 24h including 9hour onscreen time. Anti glare coating is much better , but wouldn't say that fingerprints are not visible. Love the camera, more details, less noise compared to zfold. Regarding the zoom , if we talk about 12 mpx then we have a real optical zoom 6x at 16:9 aspect. At 4:3 aspekt we have 16mpx and 6x optical zoom. When using zfold I used wireless charging twice to find out that it's too slow for normal usage so I dont care about it. Only missing that cannot use smart tags anymore. And becouse of less popular brand there is not much protection cases on the market.
I find it incredibly difficult to place my Fold4 on a wireless charger because of the camera overlap. It's basically a useless feature.
Glad to see you guys in the statee finally getting more options other than the substandard galaxy fold. I am using a Huawei mate X 3 which is even better than the one plus open (it has water resistance and high speed wireless charging at 50 watts and 5x optical zoom) but is also much more expensive and very hard to get.
Been a One Plus user from the original One Plus phone but left them when they lost track of providing timely OS updates, security updates etc. I do think the one Plus open is a good phone but I have been bit too many times by them now. Also, I personally prefer a smaller form factor phone in Galaxy fold.
I want this phone badly. I love how extra big the camera is. The style is exactly right for me. Just need to save up some money for when my S21 ultra is paid off in 6 months. 😊

I was too worried about a reliable service/repair network...I folded, and kept my Samsung Fold 5.
I really am leaning into getting this phone. I just wish I can find a good case for it. For that price I want a case on it that I know will help protect it (mous or dbrand)

As a recent converter from Samsung to the Oppo X6 PRO....which is basically the same OS as the OnePlus...it is night and Day between these phones and Samsung and Apple. The hassleblad Camera.....which is the BEST out of the Three in my opinion and the 100/120 W fast charging WITH the charger in the box....these things alone absolutely DEMOLISH any other phone. Period
One plus open looks like the first foldable that would be worth the money to me. Overall it looks like a great product. Can't wait for a few more iterations and it will get better and better! I would love wireless charging as well. I use that more than anything.
Remember that the "Open" is just a rebranded Oppo Find N3...so this is not #1 - FYI
Well, the white HDR bloom lines around the trees and buildings are kinda bad...too much HDR tbh. Even then it'll blow out skies sometimes to regain shadows.
And it sometimes struggles with texture rendition, over-sharpness, black-crush and colour temp. The videos are okay but below Apple and Samsung. The sensor helps OnePlus a lot but Pixel Fold and Galaxy Fold have a better and more consistent image processing overall.
The animations are slick, performance and charging speeds are great, the software is good but Idk about the privacy policies of Color OS/Oxygen OS.
Also, can you do camera comparison... iphone 15 pro/pro max vs P8pro?

I love this phone as well. I have one problem with it. Taking a selfie. There is a noticeable delay when taking a selfie. The time between pressing the button and it taking the photo is substantial. Very difficult if you have animals or kids and are trying to take a picture. I wish there was a way to change it.
Watching on my One plus open .Love Love Love it only ish is Cases with belt clip that's it .
My S23U just sits on my bedside table now, my Open rocks. Upped my RAM to 28Gbs 🔥
Great video, Mark! One of these days, I am going to buy an Android device, specifically a folding phone. If One Plus keeps making devices like this one, they will get my money; unfortunately, I am trapped in the walled garden, and purchased a 15 Pro Max. I am loving my 15 Pro Max, definitely better battery life than my 14 Pro Max had, and the natural titanium color is 🔥.
I have the 15 Pro Max as well as the One Plus Open, I love the 15 Pro Max but man I'm having too much fun with this One Plus Open. It's convinced me that foldables might have a chance in this market (although I think the next Gen phones will be satellite focused). If you have the opportunity, keep the 15 Pro Max but try and get the Open somehow (I wouldn't trade my iPhone for the Open)
I'm waiting for the Global release for the OP12. Don't really care too much about foldables, still.

Why did you never issue an update to the Samsung storage issue, and take down your original article? All the respectable tech blogs have long corrected themselves in this debacle over their poor understanding of how Samsung displays storage size. Or at the very least , issue an update that shows the real storage size as displayed in OneUI 6.
I am seeing in Internet that lots of people are complaining about one plus open display issue(green). Typical one plus display issue. Is it really true?
I pre-ordered mine on day one so I've had it since the beginning, it is my daily driver. I take it to work, use it at home, everything and I've had absolutely no issues out of it.
I'm still upset that you can't do 4K video on the selfie camera. You think one plus would have figured this out this has been a problem since the OnePlus 9 Pro especially when it was possible on the OnePlus Nord.
Not sure which phone you are using but the OnePlus open can do 4K at 30 on the selfie camera.

Im returning mine cause the big case makers aren't backing it. Not much support for it and what they do have is trash cases
You miss a few negatives about it granted some of these are based on user preferences:
-No 5g in canada on rogers and no option for it in settings as unboxed. Had to do some some research and download an app to get it working and will need to do that every time i reboot. Thats some BS there.
-No WIFI calling
-Cannot turn off split screen view in settings and messages
-Cannot alter home screen layout rows and columns
-Have to have the same layout on inner and outer screen
-Gallery app is useless cant have albums
- cannot watch you tube on outer screen with it open (tent mode) without opening the selfie camera first
-Camera bump is really intrusive..way to big and does not promote a good in hand feel
-No 8k video\wireless charging on a device at this price is weird but certainly not deal breakers
-Outer screen still a bit too small for me but alot better than the samsung folds
-No 1tb version
-didnt like the leather back feel in hand and hate green so it needs more colour options like the Oppo
I slow charge every night so super vooke charging doesn't influence any of my decisions.
I had. Z-Fold and it was garbage. I use a lower level One-Plus as a back up to my S-23 Ultra. Let's see how the One Plus Open holds up.
I have Z flip 5, no problems here. The small fold up size is the main reason I got it !

There is on the OPPO Find N3 (literally same phone as the OnePlus Open). I think the reason OnePlus didn’t add it was maybe to see how well it sold first.
I’m more than certain their 2nd gen will come with up to 1TB :)
I think its a nice foldable however lack of IP rating, wireless charging, lack of accessories, lack of repairability & software support ( how many updates) is a deal breaker for me. I will get the galaxy fold 5, you can't beat all the features & software support (4years) you get. If I'm paying $1300+, I want all the features and support, that phone should be able to do just about anything 😂😂😂

I use it with Visible, which uses Verizon network. It works flawlessly.

Didn’t really think it was necessary. It’s just as bright as the inside display, and goes up to 120hz. That’s pretty much it
@@MarksTech yes, but this is also one of the major reasons to do an upgrade from the Z Fold 5 (with it's narrow frontscreen) to the Oneplus Open.

The only 2 bad things about the OnePlus open is no wireless charging and the lack of good cases. The OnePlus open literally has zero good cases.

I couldn't resist watching this on my OnePlus 9Pro. Still better than the OnePlus 10 and OnePlus 11 waiting on the OnePlus 12
traded my s23 Ultra on the One Plus Open. I loved it until I didn't. I was watching a video in the kitchen. I closed the phone and walked to my living room. I opened the phone and it had lines all over it. I called One Plus and shipped it in for repairs. They received it 1-19-2024 as of today 2-20-2024 I haven't heard from them. I emailed and chatted and they keep saying someone will get in touch with me. Like I said the phone is great until it isn't. They're warranty and repair is horrible. They're communication for repairs is beyond horrible.
I think I'm gonna buy the next years OnePlus Foldable. It's their first try so they will mostlikely deliver even better with the next one hopefully. But this one already is SO well made and cool that I have to control myself.
It's their third foldable (the sister company OPPO designed the hardware, OnePlus is just the international branding). I don't expect next year's version to be another massive jump, if anything it will be the opposite. They hit it out of the park with this one. Now is the time for iterative improvements to ensure that no copy cat of this particular design can compete in terms of quality.

The thing I really love about the Open, is that it doesn't compromise on the fundamentals of high-end candy bar phones.
Take the camera for example, foldables tend to have some of the worst cameras when you factor in their expensive price tags, but the Open seems to really go head to head with the likes of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Pixel 8 Pro. That really says something.
The fact that OP/Oppo managed to fit the main camera of the Sony Xperia 1 V, the ultrawide of the Google Pixel 8 Pro and a telephoto similar to the Oppo Find X6 Pro, then there is no excuse for the other OEMs.
I only care about your specs 😘

In many of my videos, I state that I always use one iPhone and one android as my primary phone because I have two SIM cards.

Have the Pixel fold and OnePlus open. Sent the OnePlus back since all the software updates. The pixel fold is hands down. The best phone I've ever owned and so much better than any other foldable phone
The OnePlus open screen ruins it as well. It's too big. The perfect size for a foldable phone is the pixel fold or the oppo find n2 fold not everyone loves massive phones. The idea of a foldable is that you can have two types of phones. I've got the small screen at the front compact. Easy to use but quite wide and then if I want a big screen open up and there you go. Not a massive screen on the outside then another massive screen outside
Love mine! I also have the Oppo pen...sorry to make people jealous because I know that right now they are nearly impossible to find or....they cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ which is ridiculous! Supply and demand = capitalism.
