I had no idea that both of you are nurses. In the medical field, it is always the doctors who are glamorized and who receive all the credit. But, it is the nurses who are the true Healing Angels. It is not the doctor who changes the bandages, who cleans up after an elderly patient has an "accident", who is there to hold a patient's hand during difficult times. It is the nurse who does the tending, the changing, the comforting. God Bless Nurses Every Where.
Awesome!!!! My 6'7" Grampa L.E. worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for over 25 years but found the time to have a garden and he was a bee keeper. I don't know much about bee keeping but from what I was told he had 22 "hives" up on the hill in Eugene Oregon where he take care of them and harvest the honey. I'm sure he would've enjoyed having this set up. Have a great day and again...God Bless. Woo!
Wrangler Star has a great channel. He does things his own way, which is a major reason people homestead.
Brings back memories.
A good 40 years ago I used to spend my summers just outside of Chase City VA. When we went into town I'd have my sister stop at the local guy's house that sold fresh honey.
I loved that he put a big chunk of beeswax in every jar. I would chew on it like it was nature's bubblegum. It's what I spent my allowance on.
Love having honey around. True sweet honey not only tastes so good but it's healthy also👍‼️😊😊😊😊
These processes and harvests are what I look most forward to doing with my wife and kids once we buy a piece of land. Awesomeness!
Ok, I think I figured it out. Your both nurses. You two met on the job or you met at school.
Either way, you two are a compliment to each other very well. She just needs to talk more. But she seems to be very supportive of everything you do and vice versa. Reminds me of me and my wife .........at times......lol
You both seem to work your tails off and there are some people out there that just don't appreciate that or even understand that I do. I enjoy watching your place come together and can't wait to see your new house. That will be the cherry on top. Good job to the both of you and Thank You for your service.
Don’t care about the background noise I love your videos ❤️🏴👍🇬🇧🆒🇺🇸 Les Anglesey north wales 🏴 🇬🇧
Don't know if anyone has made this suggestion but you could use a motor off an old tread mill if you wanted to motorize your extractor. thanks for the post, you explain things really well and with humor.
Cody is an awesome family God-fearing man just like you are Josh
He's a pretty good fella for sure
Hi..... Thank you 🐝🎥👍👍👍
Thanks for involving your wife, nice to see the "family" thing going on. Would be good if she had a little more involvement...
You two are so adorable together. I love how much you love eachother.
Thank you for showing that I can use it to teach my grandson how honey is processed
Nice to see your daughter helping you out...
Excellent~Mrs you have a wonderful smile
Nurses rock!! From one Murse to another!! Stoney Ridge is beautiful place keep up the great videos!
Ive recently found your channel, love it. Working the hay has brought back so many memories for me growing up on a farm. I worked with my Dad in the hay field, miss it and my Dad so much. The only difference is we didnt have goats, but had lots of cows and pigs, Dad raise and sold them at market. Also grew and sold lots of veggies at market. Oh and this video of the bees/honey is the best, my Dad always had bees as far back as I can remember. Always loved working the bee hives. Thank you so very much for bringing back such sweet memories. 💝
FRONT PORCH PONDS- Licking,Mo.
thank you for the honey extraction lesson.🌻
Thanks for sharing. Love learning new processes and the little tricks of trade
Considering the cost of organic honey, it's well worth the time and effort. One of the more profitable items to raise. Not to mention having it for personal use, pollinating your gardens and keeping bee stocks up.
lol...Show me a small time honey bee operator that's making money...lol, so much time and money in equipment and hive failures....see the problem with "organic honey" is that the bees fly for a 5 mile radius...there is absolutely no way to ensure true "organic" honey unless you have nothing within 5 miles.....so far...honey is a loosing game for us....but we do it for the pollinators, for our garden and for the health of our farm....I wish we were making money on the bees...but the simple fact is that it's costing our butts!!
I'd like to see the combs after the honey has been extracted. If you can get a shot in the next video I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
That was interesting Josh and Mrs. StoneyRidge 👍👍👍
Josh you are a blessed man, in many ways.
I'm a hard working man..and I agree very blessed
BS"D
Watching you for a while and must say that I love you guys, please continue loving each other and complimenting each other .
Also thank you for all of the great things I learn from you almost every day.
🤗😂
That honey extract is a really cool process thanks for showing it .
Brother, this is one of my favorite videos that you’ve made. Thanks brother.
Nothing like great Honey..good stuff.
Hello. I had live on a working farm when I was young. I thought I'd learned all I needed to about Farming. Your Programs are both educational and fun.at First I though you were a goof. but the more I watched the more I have realized it very much to opposites. and watch you and the Misses. You said you both were nurses (Much Respect To you Both.) My First Wife the love of my life was a nurse and I met her while I worked at hospital in the supply dept.We were Together for 26 years She passed away 10 years ago. she was a strong believer that opposites attract.and I see it is working for you Two. I wish you both the best of everything and my prayer to you both. Jim
Welcome to the Stoney Ridge James
My husband and I kept bees for a year or two (he was working so much overtime at the Kennedy Space Center) we had a LOT of wonderful orange blossom honey. But there was just not enough time, and we lost most of our hives in a tropical storm (on the East Coast of Florida), so despite all the equipment, the extractor, uncapping tank, frames, hive bodies, etc., and I had some health issues (all resolved now -- just have different ones -- getting old being one) we just couldn't keep up with it any more. Our hives were out in an orange grove, and the pickers decided they didn't like the bees so they threw oranges at the hives, knocking them off the foundations, I think the bees swarmed, and that was the end of that. I love fresh honey, and we buy it in 5 lb. jars. The honey bees help your other crops, with pollination. I do miss all those things that we used to do, but my husband passed away in 2004, I'm 73, and have serious spinal problems, multiple surgeries, etc. -- which are probably a result of 3 or 4 major auto accidents (not my fault), and just getting old! lol! At any rate, I'm just not able to do those things any more. My pain specialist really chewed me out for wanting to do things at 68 that I used to do at 30 or 40, or older! Anyway, good luck with your bees. They do require some vigilance, but oh the rewards!
You guys are Awesome
I saw an old Australian guy put his frames in his car to get the honey warm enough to spin out, I thought that was hilarious!
That's not a good idea...however I have put buckets in the hot truck to help the bubbles settle out faster!
That was very interesting. You and Mrs Stoney Ridge should make a calendar doing different jobs on the farm. Good looking couple.
Good video Josh. Lots of honey
Blessings
8:32 good info. I did not know that and I wondered why my honey sometimes turned to crystal
that's neat with the honey....
Mrs. Stoney Ridge!!
Thats very interesting on how you process the honey. Never new how it was done. Teaching an old dog new tricks. THANKS
There ya go David!
This is a great informative video. Thank you Josh
Thanks!
Had no idea about this technique. Thanks for sharing.
That was way cool very neat!
Very informative video my friend, never knew what was involved in processing the honey. Nice to see the Mrs. involved in some of your videos. You’re a lucky guy. God bless. 🇺🇸🙏🏻
Glad you learned a bit Richard!
great job josh i have just finished bottling my honey over here in sandiego best year yet thanks
Cool!
Thank you for sharing this video with us. My great grand dad kept honey bees, and the family always got some honey. I never knew the process, I found it very interesting. I miss the honey we used to get from great gramps, in my opion his honey tasted better then the store bought brands. Again thank you.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Yvonne..hope you will join me for some more fun "farming" type vlogs
Thanks for sharing how to make honey :) Have a great weekend Mr and Mrs Stoney Ridge. Woooo
each of our 8 frame suppers produce a little over a gallon
Thanks for sharing.
Glad ya enjoyed Lisa...I enjoy sharing this stuff
I pray you don't have any ill effects after the bee stings. Glad now the Mrs didn't hold the box. God Bless.
I love you guys you guys have a great channel
Love the videos, keep them coming
I liked Mrs Stoney s WOOOO
Very cool, thanks for sharing! I had no idea how honey was extracted from the comb, very informational.
Glad to teach Kyle
Great info that all beekeepers like myself love. BTW...that's an "uncapping fork" that you're using. I personally use the uncapping folks for uncapping all my frames as I don't like the way the uncapping knife melts the wax. Great and informative video
tHANK YOU.
Good video. Very educational.
Yeah wranglerstar was the one who first introduced me to your Channel. I watch a lot of his stuff too.
Sweet video ,,,thank
Nice Honey Harvest. We had an extractor like that and we adapted it to work with a cordless drill. It saved our arm! Lol
Oohhh now that's an idea...I have a motor but havn't rigged it up yet...kinda fun to do the hand crank
Lumnah Acres . Looking at rigging my hand crank extractor with an old corded drill and i will be adding a voltage regulator to adjust the speed as i recon it will be too fast without it. Its winter here in Australia at the moment so i have another month or so to perfect it. Cheers.
Couldn’t comment after you u ended the live stream but Deep South homestead is a awesome channel and awesome people there names is mr Danny and ms Wanda but t they live about 10 miles north of me and I consider them experts at everything they do me Danny is a true hippie who lives off the land and has done this since he was young
Here's 3 tips.
1) did you notice when you were removing the caps when you cut down the capping fell away from the frame.
2) when your knife is resting on the bottom edge of the frame you get a more controlled cut.
3) if your supper frams are drawn out remove one and evenly space them the bees will draw out deeper comb for more honey stores, the fatter the comb easier to decap.
Bonus:
Don't leave those frames out put them back on the hives so the bees can clean them up.
I've been doing bees for a while I went out and bought a used refrigerator and stripped the inside can you guess why?
Great video
The wax and the comb wont kill you or even hurt you. Some people eat honey combs.
Small hive beetles can do that, too - and they really make the honey gross. Nice harvest!
another awesome video, great job and thank you
You are wide open LOL!! Great videos!
Great video, very informative. Thank you much.
Man home fresh home sounds good.
Nice
And informative
Thanks for this video
Glad you enjoyed it James
You can put honey that has turned to sugar in a pot of water on the stove and melt it and it will return to its original honey condition with out the lids on so it wont blow up.
I set mine in the windowsill and let the sun do all the work.
🐝 SWEET! 🐝
Great video, I learned a lot.👍
Awesome and yummy!! 😋
Great video!
Mrs Stoney Ridge needs to teach us how to do something she likes to do. We know she can talk, she's not fooling anyone. Lol Tell your subs she'll do her own video when you reach 100,000 subs.
Why wait for 100,000? If she started making video's that number would increase dramatically and fast!
MegaBear369 you’re probably right.
You got a sweet honey sir
"Stupid Shit Hurts" shirts!? LOL!!!!!
Love the video
Hi Josh. Nice honey 🍯. Wish I could taste it. Yum yum. Woooooo
Soon you will be able too...I'm gonna offer it up to viewers
Stoney Ridge Farmer hi Josh. Sounds great 👍🏻 just greasing my tractor. And it’s a hot day in the UK 🇬🇧
Have you ever heard of a flow hive? It's got pre made combs that the bees fill with honey. To harvest it you just turn a knob at the bottom and honey literally "flows" out into a jar. They're like $300 but if I ever got into beekeeping that's the route I'd go.
SmokyMountainOutdoorsman
You wouldn't go that route more than one season. There's a reason nobody's using them.
well I learned a lot Thanks
Like the new tune
LOL thanks!
Really Cool guys. I have always wanted to get into bee keeping and do the honey thing, and you guys give me inspiration that I can. Happy to see Mrs. StoneyRidge working on that camera shyness. I am gonna hot up wranglestar now. Keep up great Vlogs guys.
Thanks Shawn!
Looks like you can get the uncapping tool at Sally's Beauty Supply. LOL
lol...that would be one bad perm!
Thanks for the info. Mic was not that bad.
Great Job brother! Its always nice seeing your better half helping you out😀...ill tell wranglerstar your sending hugs lol
lol....KID...he's still alive!! Sucks about your house walls man! Are we on for a visit this September!!!
you can also have the bees clean off the tubs and other tools once your done
Yep that's what we do..then rinse them clean with cool water and store for next harvest!
Thanks for the demo on centrifugal Consider a puddy knife.
Should make a stupid should hurt sticker for tool boxes
nice
Josh are you six foot five? You make everyone seem short. LOL. Like the t-shirts to that have to offer. I wish we could buy honey from you as well. You guys are the best.
Now then I know how to get honey out....thanks....
Small world, I’m a retired CCRN ! When I was a kid I helped “do” some honey but they were poor folks and we squeezed it all out !! Fun fun except when you squeezed a honey bee lmao !!
I’m in Chesapeake VA and would like to know what part of NC y’all are located ? I can’t wait to see the jarring video !
its a cool process its a hot process, kind of sounds like Military Intelegence
Your wife looks so young and beautiful! Good video! Thank you!
Have ya'll ever taken a look at the Flow Hive? I havent tried it, but it looks like a huge labor saver from the vids that I've seen
Smoking hot wife and killer shirt !!! Stupid “should” hurt !!
Really enjoying your videos !!
I’m getting old but one day I’ll have my own homestead, so thank you for all the good information!!
The red toll looks like an Afro Pick. Lol
So my girl is giving our goat a bath in the kitchen sink,,,,smh. Anyway its fun watching a city girl go country. Im sure you understand. Anyway, she was watching this video with me and asked if you are selling any of that honey as she would like to order some. We have now got 5 goats, two calves,5 chickens,5 turkey polts, about 80 pigeons, two geese, a red heeler a beagle and a new puppy, a german shepard. Don't forget the garden....great vids and it nice to see Mrs.Stoney Ridge getting in your vids. Wooooo
Why in the heck are ya giving a goat a bath??
She had poop on her butt...lol. I know right?
This is like some kind of smurf language. "Hey bill open that gate so I can jar this honey." Bill- "What gate? The honey gate on the honey extractor?"
nope...it's just plain ol learning...see...I bet ya know what a honey gate is now.....learning!!! RAD!!
