My MiddleSchool library had one of these, they were doing this like thing where at break they'd have various activities to try out there and do, and this was supposed to do VR with an HTC Vive. Of course that never happened, they never let anyone use it and all it did was sit there and be a very expensive library music player. Wasted tax dollars right there.

Lol I work for FedEx ground and let me tell you, the heavier the box is the less damaged it will be in shipping. Mainly because we don’t but heavy packages on the top of the walls we build in the trailers cuz for one, we don’t like breaking our back by lifting 60+pound boxes over our heads 500+ times a day and for 2 it’s a safety concern because it can crush other boxes that are lighter below them during shipping, fall off the wall causing an avalanche, and can actually kill an unloader if it slips off during the unload process and is heavy enough to snap your neck. So basically 60+ pound boxes never get stacked higher than your waist or chest in a trailer meaning they have a much higher chance of surviving the shipping process even if they fall😂.

@@SpinosaurusStudios_ the aurora R7 isn't on the windows 11 supported list (even though it supports TPM 2.0) and once I upgraded it I was getting all sorts of different driver errors when running certain games or programs, tried various command prompts and even fresh install on a new SSD.. nothing would fix it or even find the root of the problem, reverted back to windows 10 and reliably had none of the issues. Why on Earth do you buy some prebuilt from HP? You should have just hung up a note in the supermarket asking for someone to call you if they know how to build a PC and have them assemble a system for you. Even if you were to pay 100 quid to the builder it'd be significantly less than the premium paid to a company like Dell or HP. Chances are that customer service is also better, because typically you'd buy the parts from some computer webshop and these tend to have more knowledgeable personnel than some random person in a callcentre in the Philippines. I've seen what systems from HP and Dell?Alienware cost and the prices, except during the extreme GPU price hike, are insane.
Don't support multinational corporations, support local craftspeople - even if they're just some random gamer doing PC builds as a side hustle. They will make better use of your money and ask less of it.

With a 980ti and a i7 of that era, a 1500w while overkill, is kinda a nice feature considering im willing to bet they were banking on the 10 series cards being power hungry (because you know how companies get when they are coming up on something special, like another digit in their GPUs)
and since Alienware is an OEM, they probably had intentions on using that PSU for years to come in more demanding PCs, and if a 1500w PSU is only a couple more bucks to manufacture and the system is $2000-$3000, you bet they are gonna go for a 1500w over something like a 750w

Your standard power supply connector (C13, sometimes erroneously called "kettle plug" which is actually C15) only supports up to 10 amps. This will get you up to 1200 watts on 120v (North America). Since this is a 1600 watt power supply, it uses a C19 connector, which uses differently shaped pins to keep you from using a cable rated only for 10 amps or less. This connector supports up to 16 amps.

I always like the zoo platform. 2 more sticks of ram to have quad channel would get rid of any ram speed issues and those older Intel CPUs tended to have great overclocking headroom, so you could have a 6 core CPU over 4ghz. Although the GPU was great for its time it does need an upgrade and you could go quite a bit before it would be bottlenecked by an overclocked i7-5820k.

I absolutely LOVE the case design! Very roomy. Easy to work in. WEIRD as hell looking, but so bad ass! I connected to this bad boy an Alienware AW768 RGB mechanical keyboard(terrific!), and the Alienware AW959 RGB mouse(amazing!). I have gone all-in with my Alienware setup with this great case, also known as The Triad! The RGB on the case is bright, but subtle, not flashy at all! Combined with the AlienFX and Command Center software, I have complete control over the RGB in my setup.
Certainly, this is one VERY heavy and big case, and not for everyone, but for me, it's PERFECT! I can't see myself in anything else, right now. I love Alienware, and The Triad Case is fabulous!

    • @jean-charlesweyland129
      @jean-charlesweyland129 Před 2 lety +1

Xeons are limited to 1866MHz DDR4 and for the ones with a greater TDP then 90W, they top out at 2133. The only way around this is BCLK overclock, some E5 V3 can run stable with 104.5 to 106 base clock, but since the the TDP is hard locked, you need to undervolt the CPU by altering the BIOS microcode (changing values in BIOS won't apply even on high end mobos apart from disabling C3 and C6 states).

    • @jean-charlesweyland129

@@amdintelxsniperx The turbo boost unlock doesn't unlock memory. My E5 2640 V3 (8c/16t at 3.4GHz) runs unlocked at 3.4GHz. By applying a -50mV in the BIOS microcode and bumping the BCLK to 104.5, I was able to achieve 3.55GHz all core and 2000MHz for memory whilst consuming less then 90W.
An E5 2667 V3 (8c/16t@ 3.6GHz 140W) could be pushed via BCLK to 3.75Ghz all core resulting in 2200MHz RAM speed but a 200Mhz increase for 50 more Watts is pretty bad.
55% more power draw for a 7% increase in speed...

Higher end 9xx cards still hold up well! I have a G20AJ from the same time period with a 960 in it, it's served me well for...eight years? Something like that, only issue is the HDMI port got damaged and I use an adapter to run it through one of the three DisplayPorts instead. I still laugh about how New World bricked 30x0s but my old card doesn't skip a beat...

XEON E5-2699 V4(I originally had a 5820k, still have it but replaced it.), 32GB ram, 1080 Ti, WD BLACK SN750 SE (main drive), The 5820K may be better for gaming (overclockable). But the games run fine. This XEON isn't overclockable and maxes out at 3.6 GHz. But it runs at 24C Idle temps with more cores and high temps are maybe 60C.
I was running about 3.8 GHZ and couldn't get much over that probably because I have a smaller radiator and can't fit a larger one in the case as it hits the ram. But I played a lot of Black OPS 4 and other games with that 5820K. Great CPU.
I can do ULTRA at 1080P in most games. So if 1080P is your thing then 1080 Ti's go for around $250 now and may be going down further.

surprised how well early X99/Haswell-E held up.
    was recently testing a 980 Ti on both 12900k & 5800x3D
doing comparisons with Fury X to see how both have aged.
(conclusion of that is that the R9 Fury X is better in DX12 titles, 980 Ti in DX11)
while the frame pacing is much worse, i'm surprised that the 5820k
doesn't hold the 980 Ti back that much, only around 20% loss compared to recent high end CPU perf.
