- We caught up with Elspeth Beard at her home in South West Surrey, England for a Generation Speed Pathfinders chat. Back in 1982, she soloed around the world on a motorbike and completed 35,000 miles in 2 years with just £2500. Her adventures haven't stopped since. Her stories? Is it real festival? I never heard about 'Generation speed' festival. Or it is some kind of online-internet festival?

As an old timer and motorcyclist from about 1961, this was my first introduction to Elspeth Beard, needless to say I'm totally impressed. In my old age I haven't ridden for about 15 years, but have enjoyed following ItchyBoots and a few others as they roam the world on motorbikes. I can't help wondering if Elspeth and Noraly of ItchyBoots have ever met or communicated, two kindred spirits indeed...Thanks for posting.
Elspeth wrote a book about her adventures, it's a good read and worth getting.
Loved her book,a great read.
Wow ! glad I found this , Read Elspeth book several years ago but its the first time I have seen her talking. She is clearly a beautiful articulate lady and your questions I am sure the best response from her. Ted Simon is considered to be the father of adventure touring so Elspeth must be the female version of him surely ! Its taken her years to come out and tell us her story but I am glad she has because she is now being given the recognition she rightly deserves.
Huge respect to her ❤
+1
Wow what a great lady, still beautiful....Inspirational for all the young woman out there.
Fantastic achievement and what a great story
Great interview, amazing lady, RESPECT. Her book is an amazing read.
These stories are so inspiring!
We can't agree more!
We have to think about it: She is a young lady, she communicates by letter without thinking about CZcams shows, she has no sponsors, she reads about her adventures on tape, in black and white photographs, she just travels the world, she has to travel, she has to deal with the trams she goes through. Deserves praise beyond respect..👏👏👏👍
black & white photographs in the 80'? Lol.
She is a legend
Most definitely
Total Respect. Huge 🫡 Salute to Elspeth Beard from India.
We are on the same page!
What a inspirational person ❤
Elspeth’s book is a fascinating read, as obviously it goes into far more detail around her trip and the difficulties she faced along with how much she gained from making her journey.
I agree the book is a fascinating read and one aspect the has stuck with me is that modern adventure motorcycles are to reliant on technology, and need specialist maintenance to overcome the wear and tear that they suffer on this type of touring.
What an incredible woman a true inspiration
Great interview and thank you for allowing Elspeth to talk which is so refreshing. These days so many interviewers not only interrupt but start talking about themselves. Nice one 👍
in 1986 i went around, criss crossed Australia ONLY, on a kwack 650. I have huge respect for what Elspeth Beard took on and never tire of hearing of this undertaking.
Sadly missed Elspeth's presentation at Brooklands because of the start of the covid nonsense. Lesson learnt : never listen/believe 'authority', be free.
Such determination. A will of iron. Legendary.
What a legend lady!!! ❤
Most excellent...really!
Great respect for Elspeth and what she did, proved to herself and to so many female and male of that huge motorfamily, that it was possible than to travell all over the world and to get one's goals as it is now. 🎉I know the bike (rode the 75/5 for several years all over Europe, which is a huge difference with riding hundreds of miles through deserts, mountain goattracks), but those engines were able to do it, and it brought you back home... so I guess you felt like a queen on your bike, in spite of all the greater and smaller problems. A bike and woman to be proud off!
A true hero, kind of puts Ewan and Charlie to shame, you have my total RESPECT.
What an interesting story
Great interview and a truly inspiring lady
You are really amazing superwomen and a adventure hero,i,m really impressed ,what a story 🌹🌹🌹
Great interview! Read Elspeth’s book years ago, it’s time to dig it out and reread it. Incredible woman and a incredible story!
One of the greats, up there with Ian Coats, Ted Simon etc etc, Travelling the world when it was just you and the Bike, a tougher better experience….. There are so many Travel influencers now, it’s not even interesting….. I like it old school
Loved it !
So glad you enjoyed!
Her book "Lone Rider" is a marvellous read.
Highly recommended.
Great interview, I read her book quite a few times and will continue to do so but it was good to see her being interviewed!!!! well done.
Having ridden exstesively in Australia I can confirm ...hard going......distances forever without seeing a sole!...what an amazing woman!
Cannot imagine how brave she must have been to do this is in the 80's, all alone! This is just incredible
What a badass woman! 🫡
Absolutely!
Great interview
Glad you liked it. Follow for more🙌
@@GenSpeedFest Your method of questioning was fantastic. Well done.
She also went back to Australia with her son, flew round Australia and camped where she landed.
Yeah she is a legend 🔥. Follow for more content like this 🙌
Awesome! Respect!
I read a report in MOTORRAD at the time. I think it was in Turkey. But nothing more came after that. Until someone dug it up again a few years ago.
Why have we never heard of this delightful lady? 😊
Her book is an inspiring read as her interviews are, eg watertower and more.
Great story, great woman.
What a legend ❤ 🧑🚀🏍️🇬🇧 She's so gorgeous too. Reporter must be a Indian man from Calcutta 😂
"The world would sleep if it were run by men who say, "It can't be done."

My best part is - she bought the TOWER!!!
❤❤❤❤
Read her book, very very good😊
❤
Her book doesn’t read like this video
Great story but Elspeth wasn't the first English woman to ride around the world. Regardless it is an amazing feat for anyone to achieve.
Least the dog didn't die in vain.
I start to watched until i heard the interviewer’s annoying voice.
refreshing trip, inspiring woman. Congrats and thank you
