    This video from BBC Learning 6 Minute English was very insightful! I learned new vocabulary and enjoyed the US report about literacy. I love reading novels 📖, and right now, I'm reading "A Passage to India" by E.M. Forster. The British accent made it even more enjoyable! 🌟🇬🇧✨

    Since I started learning English, I've been reading two English novels (the first one is *A Terrible Kindness* by Jo Browning Wroe and the second one is *Paper Palace* (you probably have heard about both novels for sure) Nobody has obliged me to read both of these novels. I just wanted to find something which is based on my preferences and to learn some English as well. And of course, I won't stop here. In Romanian schools, our teachers give us a huge list of novels which is mandatory to read everything on that list. But the most upsetting thing is that nearly half of the country's population cannot read or write. Even if the government has promised to people in every election that the literacy rate will grow in the future and education and research will be a priority, few measures have been implemented in recent years.

    • @dariusionescu726
      @dariusionescu726 Před 2 dny +1

      @@bbclearningenglish I enjoy reading more *historical* books (for example, A Terrible Kindness is based on the Aberfan tragedy from the 1960s), *romances* , and sometimes *science fiction* . However Romanian literature is often inspired by real events and frequent problems faced by peasants in the early 20th century and there are some novels in which the main idea is related to affection or relationships with the backdrop of war drama and so on.

      Have you tried reading Quran 📚 ?
      Allah. There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-Subsisting, Eternal.
      It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).
      Then those who reject Faith in the Signs of Allah will suffer the severest penalty, and Allah is Exalted in Might, Lord of Retribution.
      From Allah, verily nothing is hidden on earth or in the heavens.He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
