Some earlier Pokemon games you could travel to the Regent from the last generation a Pokemon games
The cake is a lie
Dude RDR2. When Dutch left Arthur and micah was the rat
Summoners needed to be sacrifice in Final Fantasy X.
Darts dad being emperor Diaz in Legend of Dragoon
Bioshock 1 would you kindly still has to number one for me. The build up to it is just insane and it completely makes you rethink the entire game up until then.
well said
Bioshock infinite too
When I read about that one all I could think was "They're ripping off ss2"
Spec Ops was a game we really weren’t ready for. The only issues were it’s somewhat meh gameplay but literally everything else felt so much bigger. Great setting, plot, plot twist, the way the game lulls you in until all of a sudden you begin to feel the weight of your mistakes. Such a gem
The line is my all time favorite war game
Gentlemen........welcome to Dubai
If only we knew what the game had in store for us........
@@BigTymerz2009 first thing you walk up to is a stop sign…….. they tried to warn us
The bioshock twist hasn’t left me since I first played it on release….and that was 16 years ago. Smh, what a classic
Shepherds betrayal really caught me off guard when I first played MW2
in my opinion that twist and realizing reznov died during the russian prison escape and wasn’t w mason for the rest of the game in bo1 are the best plot twists i witnessed as a kid
Exactly
That scene made me drop my jaw and shed a tear TBH.
first time i felt mad at a game character
Shepherd gave me trust issues in video games after that
Revan reveal was so awesome because we were presented with all the clues game dropped before, which were hiding in plain sight...
Bioshock’s twist was insanely big for me. It was out of nowhere, perfectly executed and was brilliantly smart of the devs to make it.
Dusknoir being a villain and Grovyle being a hero in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon explorers of the sky was a pretty good Plot twist
It makes sense
that caught me so hard as diehard pokemon and mystery dungeon fan back when I was a kid 👏🏻
Tru
Absolutely loved that game and plot.
Man I love that game so much it's one of my favorite game's of all time
Tyr Revealing Himself To Be Odin Was Out Of This World!
I figured it out early because I play all my games with subtitles on. Anytime Tyr talks in the game there’s no accent above his name. But any other time he’s referenced there’s an accent above his name. Initially I thought it was an error, but the more I thought about it, I realized the writers and developers were too smart to let such a simple error pass, so I became suspicious that Tyr wasn’t Tyr.
Still a fantastic reveal though. I absolutely loved the game.
Bioshock’s twist still hits the same 15 years later. I can only hope that same feeling gets shared with more people once the movie comes out; I truly hope whoever is at the helm of that project does it justice
For the rest of my life I will remember the iconic line of WOULD YOU KINDLY? Considering how it’s not only one of the best plot twists in gaming but how it’s from one best games ever made
Revealing Albert Wesker real identity was one of the best plot twist
Final Fantasy 7- Learning Sephiroth was really a creation using Jenova's alien DNA blew my mind when I was a Kid.
I'd say that was a bigger one compared to Aerith dying honestly. I'm sure they didn't want to add two from the same game
Learning that cloud wasn't a member of soldier blew my mind.
in my opinion, Aerith's death in FFVII was not the main plot twist, but the revealing of Cloud's past
0:40 20) the stranger's identity- the walking dead
1:30 19) the final boss - Pokemon gold and silver
2:10 18) the monster is real - disco Elysium
3:00 17) cute anime game becomes psychological horror - doki doki literature club.
3:43 16) radagon is marika - elden ring
4:33 15) killing colossi is bad - shadow of the colossus
5:27 14) haytem is a templar - assassin's Creed III
6:22 13) Kessler is future Cole - infamous
7:20 12) aerith's death - final fantasy VII
8:02 11) the government goes back on their word - red dead redemptions
9:00 10) Wesker works for umbrella - resident evil 1
9:49 9) coloneo Konrad was in your head - spec ops: the line
10:37 8) James killed his wife - silent Hill 2
11:25 7) you were the villain - braid
12:13 6)glados is Caroline - portal
13:15 5) odin Is tyr - god of war Ragnarok
14:08 4) you're not solid snake in this one - metal gear solid 2
15:00 3) shepherd's betrayal - COD mordern warfare
15:56 2)you were Darth revan all along - star wars knight of old republic
17:15 1) would you kindly - Bioshock
And speaking for genre shift in doko doki, how could they not include Halo combat evolve's flood introduction twist, that twist made Halo a great franchise.
The goat!
Kudos for including the Disco Elysium entry. A curated list, indeed!
Mines is arkham city when clayface posed as joker and i wasn't paying attention when joker was putting on his lipstick during the cutscene because I thought that was a mirror the whole time and i questioned how joker miraculously looks fine after all that titan formula business in arkham asylum
Resident Evil Series - Finding out Wesker was really working for Umbrella the whole time, but also playing them until he could find a way to Rule The World.
I also think the Eathan Winters being dead the whole in RE7 and RE8 was a good twist
@@ryanmonostori9306yes and no one the one hand it’s a semi interesting plot twist the problem is resident evil is about science so it needs to leave the whole magic thing alone
I think Shepherds betrayal hurts more in the Modern Warfare 2 Remake, because after he shoots Ghost and Roach, Roach grips his arm as if he’s silently asking “why?” Shepherd simply shrugging his hand off with a look of disgust on his face and walking away made me want to put an end to him so badly.
I feel obligated to add the oft overlooked Legacy of Kain series. The twist in Blood Omen that Kain is, in fact, the Guardian of Balance and would have to kill himself to restore the Pillars was great but the one that really stuck with me was the conclusion at the end of Soul Reaver 2 that the spirit that had been inhabiting the Soul Reaver and was now bound to Raziel was, and always had been, him. It's a bit predictable if you're paying attention but still, finding out that the weapon you've been weilding for 2 solid games is actually your own mad Soul twinned and bound eternally to you making you a walking talking paradox was truly an epic one. Amy Hennig is truly a master storyteller.
I vote for Kingdom Hearts plot twist where Xigbar turned out to be Luxu.
There are a lot of Plot twists in Elden ring. Too many that the story itself is confusing.
Also I played too much pokemon made me less to think that Red was a Plot twist😂😂😂
Also In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Proffesor Sada/Turo were actually dead at the end was a good twist
Once I saw the video I heard a voice saying…”Would you kindly?” 😂
For me, the biggest plot twist of any game I have played is from Metal Gear Solid 1 whom the man we thought was Master Miller was in actual fact Liquid Snake in disguise, tricking his own brother into activating Metal Gear and then trying to kill him with it.
Personally, for me it was more shocking that the world was destroyed in FF6 than Aerith's death in 7. It was still a shocking moment yes.
Ff6 fans pushing ff6 to every second they can still is my favorite joke to this date. Literally the FMAB of final fantasy fans
It's true. I remember how badly it shook me. The world went from green and beautiful to utterly hideous, because you couldn't stop one crazy bastard
@@chilee8809 FMAB is amazing though....
Pretty much. They stay mad it's hilarious.
@@nichoudha found the guy
Revan's plot twist will always be the best one EVER
Adachi being the culprit in Persona 4. That was a twist.
Missing the big twist in Nier Replicant. Learning that the shades you were fighting throughout the whole game were actually the original humans, and that the shadowloard is actually the boy at the very beginning of the game changes the whole meaning and perspective of the playthrough.
This.
Feel like soul reavers is worth a mention......apart from having one of the best story's ever written...the twist with raziel at the end of soul reaver 2 is brilliantly done
You are so right, that game is so underrated, I consider the story to be one of the best I've ever heard/seen.
Legacy of Kain better be on this list
Those freaking dragons in Chrono Cross screwing me over really broke my brain back in the day. You basically have to spend all of disk 2 fixing what you accidentally broke in disk 1 thinking you were helping the good guys.
👍👍 great list Ricky
Venom snakes twist is one of my favorites in gaming! Right up there with Shepards betrayal
SW:TOR was awesome, and the twist that you *were* Revan still hits hard.
The Haythem Kenway twist shook me. Ubi did a great job doing that and set the stage for a solid game. They needed to shake things up at this point and even though I was excited to play as Haythem as an Assassin, having my mind blown like that made me on edge for the rest of the game wondering what else they were going to pull!
* The end of RDR 1 straight PISSED me off. We fought through way more bad guys in the game and came out alive yet they take it away like that? Eff you Rockstar. It still pisses me off to this day lol. To play THAT much only for THAT to happen? Hell naw. Great game - piss off ending IMO. ESPECIALLY since the mission to get closure isn't even mentioned anywhere on the map after the end credits roll and you're playing as Jack.
* Spec Ops was a head job through and through. Great game and it does a great job messing with you all the way. Having Nolan North VA this also didn't hurt :)
* MGS 2 in of itself was a mind job. I loved every minute of it. I was a bit surprised and disappointed that I didn't play as Snake as much, but still dove head first into all of the dialogue and story! Plus, it looked and sounded amazing on the PS2. I'm not the only one who giggled when I learned I could shoot the fruit and slip on seagull crap lol!
* I didn't see Sheps betrayal coming. I was legit stunned with my mouth open.
* If you guys didn't have Would you Kindly as number one, I would seriously question your team's gaming chops. This was expected, but mandatory. Carry on.
Watching Aeris die was shocking and heart breaking. I have Phoenix Downs dammit! I still haven't gotten over it.
I like Aerith so I’m hoping that they don’t kill her in the remake.
I hope they do, honestly. I love Aerith and it would be hard to see her die again, but I’d much rather they stay faithful to the original story instead of doing something nee
it's ok fam, she's still alive in the remake
@@CharlonClarke for now…
@@tracemacmillan9718 that is also true lol
Shepherd's betrayal still haunts me till this day. That first play through shook me.
Same. That and the nuke scene from MW1
Marika and Radagon are the Rebis, the Perfect Being, the union of opposites. It's a concept of God on another level.
Nice list.
A GREAT plottwist is Mio's homecoming, in Xenoblade chronicles 3. THAT is an entire amusementpark of rollercoasters of emotions happending.
My favorite plot twist is Nuzleaf turning out to be a bad guy in Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon.
i really LOVE the plot-twist from "Sonic Unkeashed"!
I am SO glad to see inFamous get some recognition 6:51
It’s one of my favorite games of all time
I agree. Sad that Sony won’t bring these games back.
Shepherd’s betrayal was the hardest hitting plot twist in my gaming life. I was more upset that ghost “died” than I was about myself
Given the ending song, GLaDOS did *not* actually delete Caroline. She transferred her old persona out, likely into a personality core, so she'd have a companion.
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! 15:25 Shepherd's betrayal was shocking.. 🥶
Star Wars movies: DARTH VADER IS ANAKIN SKYWALKER AND Luke’s father.
Knigths Of The Old Republic: The main protagonist is Darth Reven.
that "would you kindly" cinematic was awesome
The greatest video game twist for me came from conker live and reloaded where one second you're storming the beaches of Normandy, The next second you were fighting the xenomorph from alien, and then you fought the great mighty poo.
Classic Metal Gear. Playing us like a damn fiddle…
They were a little too good at doing that
Ayyy I love this!
Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem deserves a shout out… Beat the game 3x defeating each God individually only to find out the God you were working for was manipulating the bloodline over centuries so he could be free and have no competition (Shadow of the Colossus walked a similar line)
KOTOR is fitting. So many since then have tried to copy the idea of 'you're the one responsible for everything, you created the monster, the war, and more'. Really hits you in KOTOR Sith Lords when you learn the extend of what Revan has done to the galaxy, despite stopping Malak.
A full on remake with modern graphics to match the tone (as well as updated combat) would be amazing.
Red Dead Redemption's ending for Marston hit me from left field back when I first played through.
Which is surprising given I
MGS is my favorite gaming series of all time, and also packed full of plot twists.
do you know anything about the muller-powell ?
Top 20 Greatest Allies of Sonic the Hedgehog!
good list, I'd add as a honorable mention. Emperor Diaz being Dart's dad in Legend of Dragoon
Wait, Seig was the emperor too?
Heavy Rain and Life is Strange had some pretty big plot twists where the murderer revealed towards the end was one we never really suspected.
Four plot twists that i thought were pretty good were from the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise. (spoiler warning)
1. Dickson's betrayal in Xenoblade Chronicles
2. The reveal of Zanza in Xenoblade Chronicles
3. The reveal of Klaus in Xenoblade Chronicles 2
4. The revelation of the queens of Agnus and Keves being robots in Xenoblade Chronicles 3
I got a soft spot for Persona 5's twist. We're tricked into thinking Joker was killed, but the Phantom Thieves outsmarted the so-called killer. Great presentation.
I can imagine the dialogue between gold and red in Pokémon being super riveting
The Baton Kaitos twist doesn’t get enough love.
Silent Hill 2 Twist floored me. Did not see that coming. The best game I have ever played.
“Would You Kindly” still jawdropping
When you booted up Final Fantasy 15 on launch day and SUPRISE! The majority of the game was cut up and sold later as DLC! 🎉
Shepherd's betrayal still haunts me to this very day ..man
Nothing was more shocking to me then jade empire plot twist and of course Kotor haha that was insane!
Having played most of these games, the darth revan reveal has almost stuck in my mind, a great great game
Bro, try the muller-powell, but I don't know when it's coming out
I’m not sure who noticed but for GoW Ragnarok, when someone refers to Tÿr it’s spelled like this. But when Odin talks as the fake Tyr it doesn’t have the special characters above the Y. The game gave you a small subtle clue to him being an imposter
Glados being Caroline is great bit of story and a twist. And a portal is one of my favorite games of all time. But even i think this has nothing, absolutely NOTHING in being at 6th place of greatest plot twists in gaming.
And this is not only example on the list.
Elden Ring’s plot twist is so good, that I “platinumed” the game and I am only now finding out about it
Amazing video watch mojo, fantastic job.
Call of Duty Black Ops. Through out the campaign you play as Mason fighting along side Resnoz. Turns out Resnoz died in Russia during your escape and it was Mason along killing everyone.
Postal Redux's hard or nightmare ending is one of the biggest plot twists since the Postal Dude's journal entries showed that he was the only sane man in Paradise while the others went insane. However the ending showed that everyone he murdered were innocent while he was the only one who went insane.
Id say finding out Jill Valentine is the "Birdlady" in Resident Evil 5 was pretty shocking
I think it was implied in Doom (2016), but it is confirmed in Doom Eternal that the new games were not a reboot series, rather they were direct sequels to the original games, and the player character is the same Doomguy from them, too.
I wish I could go back and replay bioshock for the first time I knew something was up but was still surprised by the reveal
You were Darth Revan all along. That should have been number 1 on this list.
That Silent Hill 2 twist messed me up good.
It’s amazing how the computer game creators create amazing plot story in game
Kind of surprised you didn't talk about Undertales Flowey twist talking to the player....The player learning that Flowey could also reset and when he appears to talk to the player and make the player think about their choices. Fourth wall breaking.
It might not be the greatest to others but for me another great one is in Jak 3 where you learn the precursors the gods of the world basically were all Ottsels like Daxter
The ending of Little Hope blew my mind. What an awesome game.
I knew “would you kindly” would be on the list, but i wasn’t expecting to be #1
Actually quite surprised the reveal of the Flood from Halo: Combat Evolved isn't here. It turned a Call Of Duty in space game into a zombie survival game in one cutscene. Not to mention the reveal about what the titular Halo really is.
Tales of Symphonia not being here is just wrong. Great twists in that game.
alphen backstory from tales of arise also kinda unexpected
No "Our princess is in another castle?" That one kept me up at night.
No GTA San andreas:Big Smoke and Ryder's betrayal?
I'm surprised they didn't include any Kingdom Hearts games. Kingdom Hearts 3 should definitely be on here given the endings.
Ghost death in MW2 still affects me to this day. Probably the worst comrade death in a video game for me personally
Pillars of Eternity: the gods are literally constructs, divine entities brought into being by the labour and sacrifice of an ancient civilisation that despaired when they discovered the truth at the heart of their world: that there were no gods. They resolved to put their enormous power to creating gods for their world (thereby, it was hoped, eliminating religious strife, as no one could deny the very real influence these new beings had on the very fabric of Eora).
They used their very souls to fuel this venture, and the interesting thing about the lore of these games is that they were actually pretty succesful by most standards (although in the grand scheme of things they really just exchanged one set of problems for another)
good video
Raziel: The ravenous, soul-devouring entity within the Reaver was, and always had been, me.
If they were going to include a Final Fantasy entry, it should have been Final Fantasy X, which had to major twists. The first was that Yuna's pilgrimage would in in her death, the second being that Tudys is only a dream.
Here's another plot twist, SPOILERS, obviously down below
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean - There was a traitor in the party. It was the main protagonist. Though he did snap out of it and got better in the end.
To me, The beginning of Chapter 6 of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is considered one of the greatest plot twists in 2022!
Sorry if the game is not on par with this list or may seem a little obvious, but I think the reveal that The Destroyer from Darksiders 1 was actually an Archangel that got corrupted and was in a whole conspiracy to bring down the Horsemen of the Apocalypse was a Wow moment for me, specially considering that yada yada Angels/Heaven good and Hell/Demons bad but Darksiders as a whole always plays with that grey notion/line in mind and love the series because of it.
For your next two top 20s, do the worst and best (respectively) console exclusive games. Meaning games that were released for one console and one console alone. Not counting cross-generation games (i.e. games available on the Xbox and Xbox 360.) handhelds can be included
The fact none of the entries are an example from Xenoblade hurts, but simultaneously it means people remain unspoiled.
Link being stuck in the Sacred Realm for 7 years was a pretty big twist I didn’t see coming
Just here to see where Bioshock is. That game taught me the definition of plot twist when I was 9
Shepards betrayal had me shook man.
Baiten Kaitos....there is a traitor in the group. And its the character you have been playing with from the beginning. Say what you will about that game, but considering I had been gaming for almost 20 years at the time that still blew me away.
