    I am not saying Pavlyuchenkova has nothing left at the age of 30, but chances to win a major at 30+ years old are never easy for her in today's game, that's why I was whole-heartedly cheering for her for a cinderella-like story especially after successfully overcoming the painful 6 previous QF loss and eventually get to the finals 💔💔 she really needs to keep things up 🎾🎾 otherwise she might end up retiring grand slam-less just like other Russian greats such as: Elena Dementieva, Dinara Safina, Vera Zvonareva, or Nadia Petrova, btw Krejcikova is super solid and consistent throughout the fortnight 🔥🔥 she really deserves the trophy!!

    Im pretty sure last ball was OUT 5:00 Many people in chat are calling Krejčíková as a cheater and they are saying it was IN. Im pretty sure it was not IN. If you have some experience in tennis, you can recognize it, that ball looked SAME as that ball vs Sakkari. (when umpire made big mistake, big OUT) Also camera view makes it confusing. And also, umpire during match always went downstairs to see, if it was IN or OUT, it looked like he was so sure about OUT, Pavlyuchenkova didnt event protest. I think they showed it also later in TV and confirmed it was OUT. (can someone confirm maybe?) Congrats to Barbora, much love.

    The final shot is just like that optical novelty with the spinning ballerina, sometimes you look at it and she's spinning right, then you look at it again and she's spinning left. The first time I looped the shot it looked in every time, looked at it again and it was out every time. Your eyes and brain literally see different things at different times from the same picture.

    Thought Krejcikova was the outsider of the 4 semifinalists - but look at her shots she loads heaps of top spin on them and can hit wide angles or hit much harder when it makes sense , and her movement is great good as slide stops and use defensive slice and loops are able to neutralise opponents shots. She is a very versatile player a bit like swaitek who also plays with allot of top spin, variety and good movement as well - notably they both play doubles and met in the doubles final.
    Krejcikova turns out to have more experience than you realise looking at her ranking from playing doubles which she is now using to brilliant effect in the singles.
    A Swaitek VS Krejcikova singles match cant be far away that would be interesting.

    I would have thought the now retired Lucie Safarova or the big hitters like Karolina Pliskova are the most likely candidates to win a Grand Slam singles among the Czech girls. Barbora apparently has the much-needed mental strength to go with her deadly backhand. She was so calm (except for the final 2 games) , it's so rare. Hope she does well at Wimbledon too.

    • @charliez077
      @charliez077 Před 3 lety

      tbh Lucie Safarova was unlucky in that she faced Serena in a great form - no disrespect at all to Nastya, but I think that was definitely a more difficult obstacle

    • @briangmoh5261
      @briangmoh5261 Před 3 lety

      @@charliez077 I agree, but Barbora's achievement should not be measured based on the final match only. Don't forget she also took out Svitolina, Stephens and Gauff with relative ease in succession before she outlasted the tour's hottest player in the form of Sakkari. I was a big fan of Safarova, but she was lacking that mental toughness.
