We sold the farm! Darrel and Penny couldn't have been more perfect buyers for our little homestead in Seattle, Washington. They plan to continue doing exactly the same kinds of things I was doing here for the past five years and expand upon those same efforts. They kept some of our rescue animals that were too fragile to transport and will give them a wonderful life and attentive care, and as sad as I was to leave them, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I left them in the right hands. Thank you for sharing our journey building up our homestead in Seattle, now stay tuned for the journey to Nashville and our wonderful opportunity to start over and expand upon all we learned here!
Keep up to date with what Darrel and Penny are up to at www.holycowafarm.com
A HUGE Special thanks to Dan from www.fernst.com for making this video for us

She is right, it is never too late. I'm 59 and I'm headed to live in the country and have animals and live out the rest of my life.
Good for you! So happy to hear it.
@@AnneofAllTrades Thank You! I don't know why your channel popped up on my youtube but I'm glad it did and I'm glad I saw Daniel step out and making that 30- year plan. I have a cousin that is now 100 and he is still getting around so it is not crazy thinking. I love that I'm moving back to East Texas to be around him as long as I can. Keep up the good work.
I hope I have a 30-year plan when I'm 77!! God Speed Darrel!
Better yet, get started now!!
I'm so glad you found the right steward to take care of your farm. It's a wonderful thing. And gotta love the kitten zoomies in the middle!
Absolutely the best feeling leaving that place in such good hands. Makes it way easier to focus on the mountain of work ahead of us here in Tennessee!
Perfect buyer, wonderful future for both of you.
Thank you!
I love your drive so much Anne. I've been in love with woodworking, gardening and carpentry since I was a child - I'm about to turn 40 next month. I am closing on my very first home next month and I simply cannot wait to have a garage workspace and a basement. It sounds so silly to some people, but I truly have been waiting for this day my entire life to have this space, so I can relate to you talking about how much further ahead you'd have been if you'd started earlier in life, but I think you're on the right track. I look forward to seeing what you do in the future.
Good for him👍👍👍👍👍 and you!
I'm so sad you sold your farm. :(
I'm so happy you sold your farm! :)
Trust me, I feel the exact same way!
Well said.
Way to go Darrel! You encourage all of us oldsters to keep on keeping on! And congrats to Anne, I can't wait to see how you develop the new farm.
We are moving back to WA from TX now that I'm retired. We had a dairy goat farm and were planning to take them with us but research says some would suffer from the transition. Not wanting to lose a single one, we gave our entire herd to a close friend who lost their herd from hurricane Harvey. You likely made a good choice.
Sounds like you absolutely made the right choice for your animals and a selfless one at that! If you need help finding new goats in Washington, don't hesitate to let me know, I know lots of folks up there.
Anne! You are simply the most beautiful human being. I thougt for a moment about buying your Farm, just to meet you once.
Have a blast Darrel!!!
I can appreciate his "30-Year Plan." At 61 I am (with my hubby) acquiring about 23 acres of land that has been in his family for well over 100 years. I will be spreading out to build a new hen house, a bigger garden and such. That gives me a better quantity of stored foods and a small shop for my tools (#ladieswithtools). I told my husband, "I'm retired, not dead." How wonderful that you found a family that wants to improve upon and continue your farm's story rather than tear down and redo. It's a Win-Win.
I'm so excited for your next journey! Keeping moving keeps you young. My mentor is 100 this year and still spends 8 hours a day in his shop and keeps a beautiful garden. He's quite a special fellow!
Wow! He is just perfect for your farm and very inspiring to be 77years old and getting your beautiful garm with and dream shops.😊
We agree!
Such a beautiful story. New beginnings, new hopes, new dreams. You guys are blessed. 🙏🏽
Amen!
Tears of joy running down my cheeks right now. You are both beautiful. Keep those dreams alive! All of them!
Thanks so much, it means a lot to have so many folks standing behind us in this wild adventure we are on!
That's great, that it works out for both families

A 30 Year Plan...he sounds like an awesome business man.
He sure is! He's "tried" to retire three times now, but keeps getting his hands into exciting new business opportunities. So far though, he's been absolutely loving the farm and it's been so fun getting his reports about how everything's been going!!
Good luck to Darrel and Penny. Anne, you are just an awesome lady. Good luck and best wishes to you and your family. I love watching your journey here on CZcams and Instagram. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

We are wishing him well as well. Just got off the phone with him actually, and he's having the time of his life. It makes it a whole lot easier to put down full roots here in Nashville knowing our old dreams are in such capable hands!
Some times dreams are just to big . Happy trails
So very sorry that we won't be seeing your sweet animals anymore. I hope you get more when you get settled in Tennessee. Have a safe trip.
Congratulations 🎉
🥰 Happy Adventures ahead
Thank you!
Sad to hear that you are leaving the gorgeous rescue animals behind.... but to move them all to different conditions in Nashville will be hard... and thank goodness the new owner 'Mr D' is taking them all on... and will continue keeping on what you started. Plus keeping you in the loop of how it is all going too :-)
'Mr D's' grandies will love hanging out on the little farmlet... thanks for letting us all meet 'Mr D' too :-)
Awesome and congratulations!
Thank you!
Darrel looks really nice. I'm sure he's making great things for this place.
I miss the the lamas ...
This is so cool. I love that you found a good steward for your farm.
Me too!
Glad you’re able to continue your dream!!❤️👍
Me too! Onward and upward!
Anne, you are an absolutely, amazing person. I know how difficult this must have been for you to let go and chase a new dream. There are so many lessons to be learned from you. It brought tears to my eyes when you said you were leaving so many of your tools. I know you were doing that to ensure the new owner's success. Then I lost it when you said you were going to come back to help him with spring planting. It's been said no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care. You truly are a caring person. I'm happy your prayers have been answered.
Awesome. New chapters for both of you. Amen.
Thanks so much! We are both very happy!
I look forward to your new place I hope your move gos well
Thanks so much! We are very happy!
Glad you are able to move on to the next step! Best wishes.
Thanks so much! We are happy too.
He looks like an awesome man! I have the gut feeling that the farm will be in good hands! Good luck, Darrel!

Sounds like you found the perfect person to take over your farm Anne! I can't wait for all the new adventures that lie ahead as you relocate to your new place!!!
We truly are blessed by Darrel and Penny, they will be such phenomenal stewards and will build upon our own dreams there.
Good luck to both of you!
Thank you!
You couldn't have found a better successor. Sadly, there will likely be many more animals needing rescue available for your new farm. All the best to the both of you.
We'll have plenty of space for the right ones :)
@@AnneofAllTrades The manner in which you show your concern for the rescues at your former farm forecasts the good life your future companions will enjoy. I'm happy for y'all and look forward to watching your new adventures.
What a lucky buyer to be able to carry on what you started. Glad your farm will be in good hands and excited to see your new start in Nashville
Thank you! We are just as excited to have found such great stewards, and can't wait to hit the ground running in Nashville.
Outstanding video. Best wishes on your new journey. I’ll be a forever subscriber
That makes me so happy to hear! Can't wait to share the next steps :)
It's good that both of you are not magnets. Both so positive. You are amazing and so is Darrel. Being 77 years old and having a 30-year-plan is just great.
Good luck to both of you.
What A Beautiful Thing!
Hear Hear!
How awesome to have found the right person to take on not just the farm, but the care of the animals! Great news!
Heck yeah!
This is wonderful Anne. Thanks for sharing some of the personal experience. And such a wonderful answer to prayer! The Lord is good and I hope he blesses your time in TN!
He sure is! All the time.
Good luck Darrel.
He's an amazing guy with a wonderful family supporting him, and I'm only a plane ride away if he ever needs help! We both feel like we hit the lottery!!
So happy for you. My grandmother's farm was recently up for sale, bank foreclosure. Both my sister and I said only if. As it turns out, a friend of hers knows the people who bought it. They concacted us since they want to know what it was like when it was properly kept. Over the years it's fallen in disrepair. The barn is pretty much lost. But the new owners sound like they really want to do something with the place. I'm hoping to get some of the wood from the barn to make a few things, since it will probably be coming down. Good luck to you.
I hope the new owners are good stewards, and that you're able to save a few memories from the place as well! All my best,
Anne
Best of luck Anne!
Thanks so much!
Would've loved to hear more from Daryl. Loved the kitty photobombing. Lol
Oh you will, once we get him more used to the camera I'm sure he will have lots more to say!
Way to pass it on and you're never to old to learn something
Hooray! You found a good steward, I'm so happy! Definitely let us know about where to follow his progress.
Definitely will! Thank you!
That is so awesome. I hope Darrel does the vlog. I am in the PNW, so he will be my new friend.
Me too! I'm sure he'll do great
Good luck on future projects! :)
Thank you!
Tear drop moments moving on
Its good that you've found worthy fellow caretakers .And your legacy will live on at old farm while you build a new adventure in Nashville.

It'll be fun to see what you build from scratch.
Can't wait to get started!!
