"he's self diagnosing!"
*Proceeds to diagnose Ethan with eczema even though he's not a doctor*
How many doctors told Ethan he most likely had eczema before Jake said that's what they told him?
@@syrupthemcheeks335 how would I know? I'm not his doctor. You missed the point.
Also the fact he’s minimizing things like eczema and hypochondria. Like wow it’s only “eczema”, when eczema can be severe and cause self image issues and discomfort. The ppl who go through steroid withdrawal is so brutal. And jake is gonna act like Ethan’s faking when there were so many podcast where no offense to Ethan but he physically looked very unwell with the rashes and patches and trying new ointments and all of that.
@@faeirybaby The answer is two of them, and you would know because it was said in the video... What point did I miss???

This unhinged weirdo spent 4 months piecing together Ethan's medical history, did hours of Lupus googling, compiled dozens of video clips, sent ETHAN'S LABS to some random doctor of his choosing to gatekeep his results and then took it upon himself to diagnose Ethan. All that effort and he still misinterpreted every piece of information that he gathered 🤯This level of incompetency is utterly humiliating.
Also the fact that he has eczema doesn't negate the probability that he might also have lupus. I totally agree, he seems unhinged.
the fact that he mentioned ethan’s MOM too
Apparently Jake claims to have trauma from people in his life denying his illness too... because his own diagnosis of chronic lyme is nebulous at best. He is an onion of hypocrisy, and every layer stinks.
Reminder that "medical professional" does NOT equate to "doctor.". Anyone who works in the medical field can be considered a medical professional. And I think it's telling that Jake specifically said medical professional and not doctor.
@@setofreakinkaiba8553 One of the supposed lupus symptoms actually being eczema removes a way to reason to the explanation being lupus, which lowers the probability of it being lupus

@@theotsouvallaris6038this person was being sarcastic, they are just saying that Ethan was letting the audience know in real time what he was experiencing and what his doctors had to say about it, and in turn how Ethan was responding to that. This is a cycle that many people with undiagnosed medical issues can relate with and to hold it against Ethan is, as the king AB put it, is insane.
~*~ as a disabled woman~*~ I actually found Ethan's dogged pursuit of the truth with regards to his symptoms very important for the audience. No, he didn't end up having lupus, but he listened to his body, reached out, got help, and tried to figure out what was wrong with him. We should all of the mindset that going to the doctor is not a bad thing, and it's always better to listen to your body and try to understand it then just being miserable and getting sicker. An important lesson that was lost in the shuffle a bit!
Edited to add: It is much better to be cautious, go to the doctor, and find out that nothing is wrong with you than to not go to the doctor and realize later down the line that something was wrong with you and you missed your window or best chance to treat it.

I'm so sorry. There are so many conditions that go untreated for this very reason. My condolences to you and your family.
I’m so sorry to hear this :( people like this guy calling others who have genuine anxieties about their health are hurting others in the long run. Women exponentially more so because we deal with medical professionals denying us genuine healthcare in the gist that we are over reacting or are hypochondriacs or that there is nothing wrong. We women still experience this to this day, your aunt is a testament to that awful fact. This guy became obsessed over Ethan and the crew and decided to use the most harmful way to get back at them but this way of thinking can hurt others in the process.
Funnily enough, this dude is actually the hypocrite he accuses Ethan of being.

It honestly kills me because Jake has a chronic illness. Heck, I have a shit ton of autoimmune symptoms and have simply given up and accepted that I am going to suffer from bouts of unexplained hives and edema, pain, frequent infections, etc. because I don’t have the patience or money to continue to seek a diagnosis. It took my mom over 16 doctors appointments, doing her own research, and demanding they test her for lupus to finally get diagnosed with lupus. It took years. Ethan doing his own research and experiencing medical anxiety is all so valid.
Exactly! This happened to me with multiple diagnosis and multiple doctors asked me if I feel like being a bit of a hypochondriac. All that only to find out I have a heart condition, tumors in my chest, sleep apnea and adhd. If I didn’t do my own research, listening to my body and trying to understand what is wrong so I can explain to health providers better - I would not have any clarity about my health and wouldn’t be able to solve the issues. I’ve never heard of that. Every chronically ill or disabled person I know, myself included, hate doctors. Interesting that some people go the opposite direction with it.
Oh yeah, I’ve chatted with a guy who repeatedly tried to diagnose me with different mental disorders every time I said something he didn’t like. Being chronically ill myself, I’ve learned to stay the fuck out of people’s medical business, but not everyone catches on to that lesson unfortunately.
@@taurusandlibra2638 I also have a chronic illness and I'm part of many chronic pain communities and dude, people HATE doctors like, they really see them as petulent unsympathetic children, sometimes even to a fault
as a chronic illness girly, the lupus saga brought me so many giggles. I HATE that he's a self-declared spokesman for all chronic illness folks. Good for you for running a charity babes, you don't speak for me. I'm a carer in addition to managing my own illness so I don't have the time or resources to do such a thing. THIS. like omg haven’t i suffered enough? there are millions of ppl w chronic illnesses, how could you speak on the behalf of everyone? we need representation, not just a singular representative who thinks they know all.
And it’s relatable. Having to go through all these referrals and specialists, and waiting for appointment openings and labs while you know something is wrong is so frustrating and anxiety inducing, so hearing a person with a big platform not only talk about it, but also joke about it is fun bc it’s relatable and helps us not take it all so seriously. And it’s validating to see another person go through it and making light of it.
You're 100% on point, and tbh I think that if he actually cared about this topic he wouldn't be so ready to throw around his "connections", his charity that he's been alleged to be scalping money from, or his own autoimmune disease. This whole video felt like a temper tantrum because the crew and, by extension Ethan, didn't notice him and make him the main character in all of their lives. It was petty, mean spirited, bad faith, and at times absolutely idiotic. All the hallmarks of a spiteful and hateful attack out of some twisted idea of revenge.
Thank you for putting that term back in my vocabulary, fellow chronic illness girlie!! I was trying to find the right word for it and it's absolutely giving white knight! Hard agree, I got diagnosed with MS almost three years ago now and chronic illness attacks everyone in a different way. The whole “this disease primarily affects women/men” to dismiss a possible diagnosis is so harmful, especially for autoimmune diseases. I have spondyloarthritis which primarily affects men, but I’ve found a whole community of women with this disease that doctors have written off for YEARS simply because they weren’t men. This type of thinking is exactly why some autoimmune diseases take so long to get diagnosed.
Omg this! Unrelated to what im about to say, but Ive had Crohns Disease and Autoimmune Hepatitis since i was 4 (22 now). But anyways I recently went to my regular doctor (not GI) and told him I was having some heart palpitations so we did an EKG. exactly especially when we've literally seen how this plays out with things like breast cancer. Thankfully we're moving in the right direction but it used to be talked about as something for women to worry about exclusively, when men very much can and do get it, but can sometimes ignore warning signs or just not know them due to being conditioned to think "ah that's not for me to worry about."
My mom got injured at work due to negligence from her employer. They wouldn’t pay her medical bills so she took them to court. Doolittle’s argument reminds me of her employers defense lawyer. They basically gaslit her, picked apart every diagnosis and test, and then made shit up and said she was self diagnosing even though at the same time dismissing the results from when she saw doctors. She won the lawsuit but this kind of attempt to publicly gaslight someone about their own medical issues leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. You know your own body. frrr, i watched his video where he collabed with drew gooden bc i love drew and the vibes felt off. like drew wasn’t as close as friends with jake as jake made it out to be, it was awkward. like jake was an obsessed fan
something i found a bit strange from the start of Jakes channel (i was a jake doolittle viewer) was that he would always refer to kurtis conner and that crew as his “best friends”, after he had been a photographer on their tour, even though I’d never seen Kurtis talk about him. Hearing AB talk about his interactions with him at creator clash that whole Kurtis interaction is even more weird to me.

yeah and i noticed when he did vids with drew, danny, and kurtis they very rarely ever posted jake on THEIR channels (if ever?) and he collabed more with creators of the same size as him but those weren't his "best friends"? the top dogs of commentary were?
i did notice this. i watched some of his videos for a while. i did think his sense of humor was off some times, but just ignored it. the way none of those collabs his "friends" did with him resulted in any of them ever talking about him again.
Ethan having to specify he is being silly is very funny, but also so indicative of how dumb chronically online ppl are now that they can’t tell when he is JOKING.
I mean like, some people have trouble telling when people are joking because they’re neurodivergent, but this is clearly not that. It’s like, malicious. Literally that “if it’s supposed to be a joke, then why am I not laughing?” mentality. Just so weird 🫤

Yeah, Jake has been slipping from ironically mean and hateful to actually just mean and hateful. I used to watch most of his videos, but lately I find myself not liking how mean he is to people who don't deserve it, or even mean to people who do deserve it, but in a way that causes innocent people to catch strays. Like he'll diss someone's appearance repeatedly in a way that shames anyone who looks similar, without ever qualifying it like Ethan always does when he says things like "we love our short kings". No love from Jake these days.
Basically, Jake went from sweet and fun to hateful over the course of his main channel's popularity, and it sucks.
I hope if by some weird chance Jake reads this, he takes it as constructive. He is creative enough to make good content, and caring enough to be more compassionate with his language and criticism. I'd love to see him make a turn around back to being driven by a good cause and fun, creative content.
In all seriousness when we age, if our childhood traumas are not addressed, it’s not super uncommon for people to fall into the cycles that they were victim to as children themselves.
I think this man suffers from OFFS (Obsessed Fallen Fan Syndrome). Ethan, I spent 16 years waiting for an accurate diagnosis. Those few months of your raw reaction to lab results and the insight look into what it’s like to WAIT, feel so confused and unsure, having doctors throw you around with no real answers- SO REAL. I had a million “normal” or “on the cusp” lab results before my condition was finally uncovered and diagnosed by a world renowned rheumatologist. There’s a reason why chronic illness often goes undiagnosed for YEARS. And to see a comedian process that experience of uncertainty and be able to add funny commentary, felt so healing and relatable.
As someone with chronic illness and autoimmune issues, I literally could not finish the segment because of how angry Dr Dolittle made me. Honestly it just triggered me how he managed to so severely stigmatize chronic illness further under the false pretense that he is an advocate for chronic health. He clearly isn’t.
So well written! Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts. I couldn’t agree more with your take!
I’m so sorry for all you went through!
And that’s what got me too - that Jake is someone who knows how hard it is to get a diagnosis and he’s mocking and belittling Ethan on his process to figure out if it really is a condition that he has. What the actual hell
I'm currently trying to find an answer to my symptoms and lab results, i've been going to a rhumatologist for 3-4 years now still with no diagnosis, i have chronic fatigue, i used to get butterfly rashes (luckily it happens way less often now), and other issues. I'm still lost and looking for answers, my mom has been misdiagnosed a few times, I think she has lupus, but for sure my sister has been diagnosed and my uncle. hoping I can get answers someday!
I am so sorry that you've had to go through that! Thank you for speaking out, it really adds perspective to how messed up/mean spirited Jake's video truly is
Hope you are well and that Fridays episode brings you peace and love
Also, something that really pisses me off about this stance that self diagnosing is wrong and some horrible crime. As a woman that can't afford medical tests as extensively as Ethan can, its really fucking hard to get a diagnosis for my medical issues. I've been through so much medical shit the last 3 years and been Gaslit that nothing was wrong with me multiple times over. I can't afford to continue going through the motions and get turned away every time. I have been working with the idea I have a specific condition and doing everyday lifestyle changes to accommodate it and have been so much better. The shaming of self diagnosing is truly a privileged place to be. You are often your best, and sometimes only advocate as a woman seeking medical care and its so tiring to have to deal with people doing exactly what he's doing to Ethan.

I’m sorry there’s a weirdo here.
jake’s lack of empathy for medical anxiety in this video is really weird. i’ve been to the doctors and freaked out over much less even when they told me everything was fine. as much as i trust doctors, my anxiety will have me convinced that im gonna die 😭 he acts like he’s never met someone who’s scrolled webMD and are convinced that they have a brain tumor because of a headache. that’s a huge part of anxiety, it’s not always rational and people with anxiety often catastrophize things even when everyone is telling them they’re fine. for someone who tries to be very sensitive to people with autoimmune diseases, i would think that he would be more understanding of mental health conditions like anxiety?
Like if you think something is wrong with you, you need to research everything medically related to you BUT don't research online, don't speculate anything, don't joke about anything to lighten the mood, don't have hope, and just wait until you 10000% know what you have before you say anything!
@@mikec6545most people cope by joking to lighten the mood.
Exactly!!! I have a ton of health anxiety and would consider myself a hypochondriac, and I’ve definitely catastrophized even if everyone told me I was fine. I didn’t feel fine and that was that.
This is relatively gross but I got a case of toenail fungus that I never got around to treating & my toenails started to fall off. This happened on like a Friday night so I freaked the absolute fuck out till my appointment on Tuesday about it & they were like no you’re fine just take these pills. BUT the whole time I was so concerned and stressed about the whole situation while the whole time I was fine. Looking back it seems so silly but at the time I was spiraling. So yes I agree. And also Ethan is just joking but alas everything has to be taken absolutely so seriously now that jokes aren’t jokes. And to finish, a lot of people calm their anxiety by comedic relief, myself included. It’s not that deep. Not deep enough to start drama at least
Exactly. And it's not even like Ethan had an overly crazy amount of anxiety either! He was having actual symptoms, and actual test results that could potentially be indicative of something serious.
Getting those kinds of things diagnosed (or being able to conclusively determine that there ISNT any sort of serious diagnosis) takes time. It's normal to feel concerned about that, and to worry about what it could be. I really think he had a pretty healthy/normal amount of anxiety given the circumstances.
It's not like he was freaking out and terrified... The whole lupus thing was literally just "it COULD possibly be that, I had a test result that indicated it could be possible, and I do have similar symptoms". And then it became a huge joke/meme. It was never this actual huge serious emotional "OMFG GUYS I THINK I HAVE LUPUS 😭😭 IM SO SCARED!!!!!" it was just fkn "it could MAYBE be that but I don't know" and not even being emotional at the possibility..... And then playing along with the jokes when people started making them.

😭 RIGHT? if yourself or anyone in your family has experienced health issues i feel like it usually makes people encourage spreading awareness, not shaming people for thinking about their health - lots of people wish they had paid attention when symptoms of an underlying condition were mild or confusing!
Hit the nail on the head.
Yeah it’s very horrifying and at the same time impressive how not self aware you can be!
On getting “excited” over a result/potential diagnosis: obviously you would rather not have anything but when you have symptoms and keep getting no answers, it is so frustrating. You feel like you’re going crazy and making it up. Having a diagnosis can give you relief and honestly vindication.
This is such a small gripe, but as someone who has also been made fun of for the way I talk, it was really disappointing to see Jake keep going back to Ethan’s “mispronunciations” as a way to prove he is stupid/a liar/uneducated. Olivia was right, it’s such a mean point, and although I don’t know if it will affect Ethan in this way, overall that exact talking point makes people self-conscious to literally speak, which is how most people communicate. It’s so crummy.
Fr like who cares if someone stumbled their words sometimes, if I can understand it there’s no problem
this for sure cause like ethan is the mf you know that will not say something correct. that and he literally has tics from his anxiety causing him to even stutter that time. looking to ethan for coherent speech is basically ableist if we're going down that route and jake only seems to care about his agenda, not people w actual problems
