There are also soft clickers that are very suitable for birds. It does not really matter what you use, as long as the sound is consistent

Denny the Budgie, what are you doing at this channel? Your videos are very useful and my budgie,Mint, now knows how to step up and handshake. This is one of my ideas to make a vid on "Reply to kisses".Whenever I do that Mint replies to it by vigorously shaking her head for a second.

Thanks to your wonderful video, my parrotlet is spinning around her perch ... what fun for her and me! It only took two sessions, as you said. It is truly amazing how smart these little birds are. I wished my kids would have learned so fast!
I guess I should have tried using a clicker as an educational aid.

David Lim The use of the commands “step up” and “wave” should prevent this. Birds are quite smart. They should know the difference between the behaviors expected from the different commands.

Budgie Life Care you should say step up while your touching it’s feet, do it everytime you want it to step up, say step up while it’s stepping up, do it until the budgie gets used to it, and slowly faze out the action so then when you say step up, it will step up
